Maybe its due to having eye trouble but the colours just seem abit too intense for my eye.
@ATPG: I can write some but I would rather have most of this games writeups written by someone who has more experience at it than I do.
Its...green.
White backgroud with black lines would have worked better IMO.
That or you somehow found a way to overlay a google map of the world with the 1980's country borders.

East Germany invades Austria
In a shocking development, the Republic of East Germany marched their army into the sovereign Republic of Austria, taking most of the country in a short blitz campaign. This action has caused the government of Austria to go into exile. NATO has issued a stern warning that unless German forces leave Austrian territory immediately, there will be a declaration of war against East Germany. Many heads of state and ambassadors in Europe have issued strong condemnations of this action, showing support for Austria. More on this top story as it develops.
Suspected terrorists caught in Budapest
Two Caucasian suspects have been detained by Hungarian authorities after the attempted bombing of several shops in the Budapest commercial district. According to a Hungarian official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, these attempted killers had attempted to sabotage the marketplace and leave behind false identification for the purposes of framing the Czechoslovakian military. After being detained and interrogated, the two men confessed to being agents working on the Indian government's payroll. Hungarian authorities have yet to make a statement on the incident, however it is expected that the Hungarian Prime Minister will be holding a press conference at 5:00PM local time this evening to address the attempted bombing.
British invasion of South Africa continues
The BBC reports that British troops have been deployed to the Republic of South Africa to root out those responsible for the assault on Zimbabwe. Troops entered the country from Zimbabwe and the southern coastal region, and are marching towards the capital cities of Pretoria and Cape Town. Most of the nation has already been liberated, but British troops were halted by the presence of armed forces from Botswana and Mozambique.
Citizens outraged as Bhutanese Monarchy overthrown in military coup
Thimphu, Kingdom of Bhutan- The ancient kingdom of Bhutan, which has stood for over a thousand years, is still in shock from the sudden apparent military coup which overthrew the Dragon King, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. The Bhutia people registered their outrage at the removal of the beloved monarch, as the Kingdom of Bhutan is widely recognized as being the happiest state in all of Asia, and is ranked the eighth happiest in the world. The removal of the Dragon King prompted street demonstrations and a general strike. Sources report that the coup was highly unexpected as the Bhutanese military is very loyal to the royal family. Chinese influence and funding of the coup is suspected, but there is no direct evidence. The small nation is bordered to the North by the People's Republic of China, and to the East, South, and West by the Republic of India. More on this story as it develops.
I would like to send a diplomat over to who ever is responsible for the Coup in Bhutan.
I would like to know what their intention is, and what they have planned for their country
The Pakistani government wishes to announce that it has caught spies attempting to sabotage and steal vital information on the Pakistan's nuclear program. Unfortunately, these men died during the interrogation before a proper trial could be arranged and little information could be gained. Before dying, one the men revealed that he was working for the Czech government. As this is a matter of state security, the remains will not be returned.
Unless a nation claims these spies as its own, Pakistan will have to consider them on a mission by Czechoslovakia. The Pakistani government wishes to issue a stern warning to Czechoslovakia and its allies; we will not tolerate any foreign incursions on our soil. A repeated offense will result in severe consequences.
Czechoslovakia wishes to know why you found a Czechoslovakian agent in Pakistan, when Czechoslovakia did not deploy any man to Pakistan.
Czechoslovakia cannot comment exactly whom Czechoslovakia sent agents, but it was not Pakistan, and it only sent agents to the country that Czechoslovakia cannot name in an advisory capacity. Czechoslovakia is very angry to see possible misuse of resources allocated in good faith, and Czechoslovakia apologizes to Pakistan, and congratulates Pakistan on thwarting the attempt.
Czechoslovakia will also make it known that it is secretly withdrawing support from country that abused Czechoslovakian kindess.
