Oh, yes, I look to Romania and I see a land of the footballing Mecca. Why
play for Red Star Belgrade when you could play for such giants as Dinamo
Bucharest? I would think even Levski is more appealing. ~;)
I just can't see Fabergas going to Real Madrid, not if he truly does support
Barcelona. But then, support rarely comes to anything in the face of a good few
millions, does it? Maybe you should start getting ready to break some thumbs,
Rythmic. Knock a few heads together, or summfink.

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Hmmm, if I remember, Levski Sofia almost had no point the CL groups, whilst Steaua Bucharest had 5, rampaging against Kiev and holding out against Lyon in France. ~;)

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Fergie's splash of cash is well thought, but Benitez' splash of cash is a nuissance. Totally.
Torres never scored more than 20 goals per season, he wont do it now for sure. I'd say that even with Torres, Benitez has problems. ALL OF THE STRIKERS are inconstant. Crouch, Kuyt, Torres...everyone. Bellamy left, so theres more silence, but still... And now they offered 20 million euros for Ryan Babel from Ajax. No, I dont want him to go there. He wont even know how many minutes hell get.
Sagna?
Sven = relegation. Goodbye Manchester City. Sven is a bad coach IMHO. WAAAY overrated.

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
My prediction?
Wet Spam for the Champions League.
Only kidding. It would be poetic justice if they went down, the cheating, lying ****** :furious3:
Citeh for the drop as well, closely followed by the barcode army, deluded pillocks. :sweatdrop:

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Who's that getting riled up by the Hammers now? :laugh4:

Levski, failures? :dizzy2:
As for Fergie, we can but hope for spectacular failures, but we know the track
record. We know Hargreaves has proven himself to be a high quality team player,
and Anderson is supposedly up to scratch. Nani will need time to adapt, and is
incapable of lasting a full game - so I'd venture that both of them will be used
as quite effective cover to begin with. Disappointed about Tevez, and can
only see that move being bad for the rest of us. Hopefully some early
experimentation with squad selection in that midfield will hurt them. Too
many midfield-oriented players in the squad there.
Sagna is Bakari Sagna of Auxerre, edyz, and he's on his way to Arsenal. To me
he is a relative unknown. Didn't see much I liked about Auxerre last season,
including a decidedly lacklustre performance against the scum in the Uefa Cup.
[2-2 result, more due to poor play by the buns, if memory serves.] Can't mind if
he was playing.
As for the wee Mancs, I'd stick my neck out and say they're going to do quite
well [scraping into the Uefa Cup, I'd say] if they get a few more players in
sharpish. They've just signed the striker Rolando Bianchi from Reggina for £8.8
million. [I know, "Who?"] Another unknown quantity to me, but I'd imagine Sven
knows significantly more about the less prominent players in Italy than myself.
I know it's difficult to see Sven in any kind of positive light, especially if you're
English. But I think managing England would be a Catch-22 situation for any
manager, including Scolari. I don't see anyone taking that squad of players as
they are now [or have been from 2004 onwards] and turning them into a team
that lives up to expectations.
Article on past perfomance.
[Includes two title wins in Portugal with Benfica, and the title wins and more
average runs in Italy.]

** Breaking news; Sven diagnosed a lysdexic, he thought he'd signed Ronaldo. :laugh4:
* A few more? :inquisitive: He said he needs at least ten after watching citeh in training. :laugh4:

Hilarious more like. :2thumbsup:

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
The only players I like are Hatem Trabelsi (former Ajax player) and Andreas Isaksson. The rest, including Sven, I can dispose of immediately. :beam:

Funny you mention Trabelsi. [if I'd known he was former Ajax myself it wouldn't
be] I rate him highly too; his delivery and his movement seemed to be good
when it needed to be. But he's already been released by the club. Isaksson
should be first choice every time, on the basis of sharpness of reflexes and his
reaction shot-stopping alone, but he seems to play second fiddle more often
than not.

"Gooooooool!"
Something special from last night's Copa America semi-final game, Mexico -
Argentina. I still haven't been able to find anywhere to watch the tournament
live [any suggestions welcome, as I would like to see the final.] Anyway I just
heard about this goal this morning. One quick search and lo and behold it
appears to be everywhere.
Lionel Messi scores for Argentina to make it 0-2 on 61'
This goal comes with a Typical Spanish Commentary Warning.
Sky's got it? Ugh.
-
Re: "Gooooooool!"
It's live on Sky Sports 1: Probably a bad thing, as I've been going to bed very late the past few nights.
It was a bit special, wasn't it?

Sven was a very successful club manager before managing England, if given a chance i think he might prove a good choice...

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Babel is a good buy I reckon, he'll be something in the future. I've got no idea what they're doing with that striker from the Bundesliga though; he is on a free, mind.

Voronin, I take it? I'm guessing he'd be cover for when Torres has his legs
broken in the second game of the season. I would've said he's almost past it
already. For a while he looked to be going to Celtic, and I think he would've
done a lot better up here.
And Scurvy, yes it's almost impressive, but notice how he's struggling to get the
first few sentences out after it. I'm sure they manage better in Spain. ~;)

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Why did they have to take Babel away from Ajax.... ~:mecry:

:inquisitive: Surely that's the point of all purchases for football teams? Though I will grant you, Rafa has had too much of a tendency to replace our rubbish with more expensive garbage. (Bye Bellamy, you wont' be missed...)
Our "rubbish" hasn't done too badly the last few years, at least in Europe. Now we shall get to see whether Rafa can actually deliver himself. He's got the backing he wanted, now there are no excuses for really pushing in the Premiership. I can't see us winning it yet, but we need to be there at the death at least.
I fear Rafa is not up to it - his rigidity in the Champions League final when it was there for the taking was a worrying sign for me. But this year will tell.

Well, if that is the case, then I expect Mr. Benitez to fire at least for the first 2 spots in the Premiership.

Regardless of silverware, Valdano certainly made a valid point about the
style of play he advocates. When you see a team of that quality you expect
something more; a more aestheticaly pleasing style of football. That he does
not deliver, does he?

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Wow, Argentina completely folded. Wasn't expecting that. I hope Chelsea don't get a work permit for Alex next season, that fellow is a rock.
I think we've declined to extend Baptisa's loan. It was a good goal though.
-
Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Would you want to see Baptista back? He's said himself that he had enough
problems with the style of play. That being the case, I think the focus has to
be on developing Eduardo and the others.
