I talked with TosaInu about a subforum for the Two Crowns mod. We really want this mod to become something more and hopefully it is already showing. For Tosa it was enough reason to give us a subforum.
Of course not all mods are able to get one. Only the major ones which have a good progress and chance of succeeding should get a forum.
I only found out recently that you haven't got your own forum and 87 pages is getting a bit silly. Your mod has become quite popular I think you can contact Tosa about adding another forum to the Dungeon.
Cheers,
Duke John
I must agree, the mod is beyond amazing. My Corinthians have had to fight for dear life to survive with Argos and Sparta knocking at my door. If you manage to drive them back, then you have a massive Lydian of Persian force to contend with It's non-stop epic battles in which you have to keep fighting tenaciously. Even when you're well established, the game can still throw suprises at you. The pics really don't do justice to the game. It's put about a year or two's worth of replay value on MTW for me.
Cheers to the Gerousia

ok update if anyone cares:
After a vicious but very one sided war with the Illirians thanks to Greek superiority in tactics (and a good commander me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wink.gif ) the Illirians where smashed forever But the Thracians shortly thereafter attacked me with a force of 8000 men against a small unprepared macedonian force of 1500 men and Macedon prevailed Many good men where lost that day, but the entire macedonian army of 4500 men swung east to meet the new threat that had smashed my other peaceful neighbors, the Peonians. With the Illirian tribal lands and people supporting macedon now, the army of 4500 was quickly raised to a mighty force of 6000, and good thing, cause very shortly therafter a massive 12000 Thracians invaded. After a very bloody and rainy battle, 2000 macedonians lay dead on the field and a whopping 7000 Thracians lay dead. This was the turning point in the macedon/thrasian war. Seeing my country in despair, the Aetolians send an expenditiary force of 2000 men to secure southourn provences to aid in the defeat of the barbarians. Soon thessaly sent a force as well. macedon drove deep, almost to Byzantios itself. But the Aetolians had smashed there eastern front while we the macedons smashed there western front. In one last sad stand, 8000 greek warriors faced 9000 Thracians with Thessaly sending 500 men to assist. Thrace was destroyed and its lands divided among macedon and aetolia. War still raged between the (hittites?) Phrygian and lydians in asia minor. Both fielding massive armys, as the greeks slowly attempted to chip away provences here and there. But then sadly, after 40 years of peace between the greeks, the Beoteons attacks the Aetolians. The kingdoms of greece were divided on who to support. At first greed drove me to side with the beoteons, thinking I could take a weakened Aetolian lands. But when I saw the army of beotia march into Aetolia itself, I turned sides, sending a force of 5000 men to remove beotia from the Aetolian home city. They agreed to leave peacefully, but a fierce naval conflict arose. macedonia, with its superior drieres, overcame the beotean penticores and naval superiority was obtained... Now macedon ponders its next move... Does it slaughter its fellow greeks for more power? Or face the barbarian threat in asia minor and just try and keep the peace between the greeks in the meantime? Stay tuned...
King Azzole,
Please post your tests in the Alchemist Lab so all testers and The Gerousia can read it.

To the HTW team:
As far as I've understood all the mods basically have one thing in common: Whether you play a custom battle or do battle within a campaign they all have the player and the enemy set up facing each other untill the word GO ....and slaughter starts.
Wouldn't it be a grand Idea if you could march your troops in a long column across the landscape NOT KNOWING where and when the enemy would appear ? It would drastically increase the suspense, because you DO know that the enemy will show but you just don't know when and where. It could be just past THAT hill or on they could be waiting for you in the forest ahead.
I have made a number of maps where I can simulate that experience. My troops (defenders)have all the time to 'march around' before the attacking force appears as they have to cross a bridge and some steep hills on the other side of the map first. Although in this case I always know where they are coming from it leaves me enough time to enjoy the sound of jingling armour, the commands and the music.
For an experienced lot like you guys it could be a challenge to get this 'randomness' on the battle field.
What do you think ?
Topic moved
H:TW now has its own subforum in the Dungeon http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...evalcheers.gif
I have deleted the thread in the EG to save space.
Cheers, Duke John
where can i take the 2.01 of this awesome mod ???
I dont know if you notice but your pag only give music to us
Just an advice for the H:TW team. Abuse your subforum by making more focused threads like: Downloads, Trouble-shooting etc.
Cheers, Duke John
I believe that will come with RTW.Quote:

Hi 5th Horseman:
Have you installed the music-addon?
Maybe you have forgotten to convert it to wave?
But other then that:
There isn´t such a problem in HTW.
I´ve never heard of such.
Maybe check your sound drivers.

whoa i can post , this is so cool,
hey htw devs im looking forward to ur mods, but i have a huge prob. my original mtw disk if gone(not vi, i still have vi), So now i cant make a new fresh instalation to dl this mod , and tht sucks, so is there anyway to delete my old ntw or htw v2.1 mods from my 2 viking invasion instaltions tht contain them? this way if i manage to delete atleast 1 mod from my viking invasion instalations, i can dl the new htw version when it comes out, and tht will rock. ty in advance, and i hope there is a way. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/handball.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/handball.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif
Hi guess4762remix2,
Well you can simply copy the MTW directory and install the HTW over it the v2.1 works with NTW but the new version uses a lot stuff so it will not work with anything else.
Please we started this sub-forum because this thread was growing to big,so i reguest kindly to post from now on in the proper topics.
Thanks,
CZoF http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...gc-curtain.gif
For the time being i will lock this thread so people start using the other topics. It will be opened again ASAP but for the time being people have 89 pages of HTW history to read.
GO AND USE THE NEW HTW FORUM
CZoF http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...evalcheers.gif
Ok opened up again, but please if you have a relevant Q that fit the other topics please use them.
The reason we had to move is because this original thread was growing to large.
Every topic has a short description of what subjects or Q's you can post there.
Please try to respect this,it is easier also for us to answer the questions so if you have problems with the game go to the Gymnasium,if you want to discuss MP go to the Stadium if you have a suggestion or idea go to the Palestra and so on...
Thank you,
CZoF http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...gc-curtain.gif
ok I have a q. Why on earth are there so many units in the game. I don't mean types i just mean volume of starting units. Its really hard to play with all those. not only that but they multiplly so fast it makes the game a little unrealistic(i mean people eventually run out). Im not complaining IM just giving some advice for a small change that would make the game a little easier to play.
i started a campaign in the earliest period with the peonians, however very quickly i found that there were no more buildings that i could build and i found the the only new unit from the starting ones were chariots and cavalry. So i basically i feel the peonians nedd more upgrades and units
But otherwise the mod is superb https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...s/gc-smile.gif
Just recently started playing HTW and my first observations was the amount of money the provinces can churn out: vastly more than on MTW. I only have three provinces and already have over 30,000 gold and all I have are 3 merchant ships. In fact the economy seems to sort itself out and is never a worry. I'm wondering why the provinces in HTW churn out so much money?
The titles also have a lot of bonuses attached to them. For example, the Tyrant of Emathia is worth +3 Loyalty, +2 Piety, +4 Dread, +2 Command, and +2 Acumen. Or maybe MTW is too stingy on the benefits? https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...icons/wink.gif
Hi,
For the titles I made some calculations for some of the bonuses so loyalty, acumen dread, command depend on the culture, number of units initially in the area, buildings in the area, amount of money produced, etc. And yes they are more generous than the MTW system.
I never liked the idea that you always had to hand money. Any way land gives more but also units cost more Armies are BIG compared to the flimsy MTW armies. This is a problem we have still to solve.
I think the system as it is is quite good.
In the Anabasis by Xenophon he tells us about his journy with 10.000 Greek Mercenarys (and some Thracians) through the Persian Empire and the Thracian Hills.
These Mercenarys were assembeld in a very short timespan and were a small army in comparison to what a Persian Ruler or Greek Citystate could field.
And although about 1500 Greeks died on the March they did not have that much difficulty to get provisions and plunder by raiding some villages or getting gifts from friendly citys.
I'm not sure if balance issues go here or not.. but I have a few issues with the new version.. elephants.. elephants are very weak imo.. Should not elephants at least scatter infantry to the wind? Chariots also seem to have the same problem.. one would expect a skythed chariot to have the ability to slice through infantry to a certain extent.. at least on a charge.. The Immortals.. they are pretty expensive for a unit that fights little better than the persian archers imo. I understand Persia is meant to win by numbers, generally, but the aforementioned units should be a little better, should they not? They're useless against the phalanx/hoplites. Otherwise.. still a fun mod =/
Hi,
We have some problems with the TW engine as it is ... ie the Immortals would act as skirmish unit. Actually Kardakes might also be Immortal unit regiment so I can upgrade them a bit.
Chariots are also problematic ... they have several problems but against the tight Hoplitic formations were near to useless. Plus Greeks had developed techniques that neutralised them. On the other hand try using them against open formations of light troops.
Elephants ... well that is a units I was reluctant to use. They were not meant for TW and they have a number of problems. I fear that if I made them any more powerful we would end with a super unit they were not.
Hee guys!
I was just wondering about the symbols used to represent the factions in the game. Where did you find them? Are they for realz?
I especially like the one for Beoteans! :scastle:
No these were symbols on shields from a site except the Athenian and Lacedemonian. I used them because they were close to things I have hearted used like city emblems
ie I know the symbol of Athens was the Owl Lacedemonians used the Greek L on their shields but most probably their emblem would have been something with Hercules.
Which website is it? Im very interested in knowing about the erst of the symbols like the illirian, beotean, and Aetolian.
thanks :jumping:
I am new to this particular forum, and its not set up the way I am used to, so i hope this is the right sticky for a mod question. Hi Count, its me Gaius. Ahmm. Anyway, I was wondering how you guys in the project played around with the AI formations file to change AI behavior, if you did at all, I would really like any information on how that works. Thanks
Hi,
There is a file named Shogun Formation Description Files.doc in a zip somewhere in the ORG downloads if you can't find it drop me a line and I will send it over. The problems is that it describes the atributes but not much of the syntax so errors can be fatal.
I looked at Guides and FAQ's and tools and docs, both of which yielded nothing, so i would appreciate you e-mailing it to me, I assume thats what you meant by "send it over".
p208@epix.net
thanks.
Hello - I am new in this forum
First of all: thanks a lot for this great mod. It is just fun to see this map and all the historic Greek units. As I am a great fan of antique history and even learned some of the old Greek language at school this mod is a “must have” for me.
But there remains one problem with the game: whenever a battle starts, my units appear in a deeply crowded mass and each single unit is positioned in a long and very thin row. Changes in the formation (e.g. to wedge) do also not change this “long & very thin row-problem”. This automatic formation is a huge problem during battle as one always has an open flank and especially as one never can attack with full strength (mostly there are just three men next to each other (from right to the left), the rest of the unit then comes in many rows behind!).
Do you have also experienced this problem so far and how can I change this effect (have already tried the “clean-version-installment” measure with the latest 3.1 version)? It would be great if you could help as this is such a nice mod.
:help:
Many greetings,
Texasjack
Hey TJ ... Unfortunately we all have this problem ... So to get around it just click on the sheild till you find some formation suitable for the battle you are ready to start .
cheers
DTS
The formation bug is indeed annoying but as stated when clicking several times on some formation buttons the problem is solved and your army will line up properly.
LZoF
o.K., will try that solution - haven´t used these formation buttons so far so I hope this will be also available for an attack.
:balloon2:
Anyway - this mod is just great. Really thanks a lot!!!!
~
Texasjack
IS there gonna be an RTW version of this? I know there's another thread for this but this place is where everyone can speak their minds so it's a better source of info.
