Re: Kingdoms Update Released
I tried something else based on what I saw on the three forums.
I uninstalled everything and deleted all folders.
I installed M2TW and then Kingdoms. I let the game patch itself. I then went to gamespot, signed up, and downloaded 1.05 from them.
It still didn't work.
I'm all out of ideas... :shame:

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Wait on CA to release the right patch.

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Did an uninstall of M2:TW and Kingdoms. Deleted everything. Reinstalled both and applied new patch. Got error messages. A day wasted. :bigcry:

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
As everybody already figured out, it's the U.S.A. early adopters who got the short end of the beating stick. Here's confirmation from CA:
Hi everyone,
We quickly identified the cause of the localized.pack problem which the US retail owners of Med2 and Kingdoms have shortly after it appeared on the forums. We had a new fixed copy protected version of the US patch by last Friday afternoon. As to be expected any new patch requires a sanity pass through the QA labs to avoid any new issues. Testing has been performed both at CA and at SEGA and we hope to get the new US patch to you ASAP. We anticipate this being approved very, very soon assuming no new problems are found. This is receiving our full focus until you have a replacement patch, sorry for the delay.

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Copy protection is to blame for the US patch troubles if I read Lemur's quote correctly? :tongue2:
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Why do they feel it necessary to protect our CDs from being copied? Don't they trust us in the USA to use condoms?
Seriously, by now - over a year of this game being out and the Kingdoms exp. for over 7 months - who'd steal this game that still ain't fixed properly enough that it can be called nearly as finished as MTW?

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Sorry if this has already been said but is there any plans to update vanilla? I have kingdoms but prefere the Grand Campaign.
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
I don't think so. They're currently busy on Empires. Considering the time it's taken to patch Kingdoms I think standard M2TW's off the agenda now for good.
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
According to a CA post a while back, this is the last patch and it is Kingdoms only. M2TW is officially dead for them in that regard.

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Thats a shame. I really wanted to see this game fixed. Its been the best game iv played in a very long time. Been hooked for months. Im slowly getting tired now tho. Guess il find a new game next weekend. Thanks for the quick reply and sorry again if this is old news.
edit: How do you install this update?
edit: ignore the install question. sorry. Does anyone know if this update work with retrofit?

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
What Gorm said worked for me. I could install and play updated Kingdoms without any errors or crashes so far.
Thanks.

Update:
Hi guys.
The US non-gold Update has been submitted to SEGA QA by CA Oz and I'll keep you posted on progress.
Thanks,

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
From the list of changes, still no Securom uninstaller in sight? Shame, I would have like to play this game.
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
and how does securom stop you playing it?
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Totalwar.com now has several links to the "US Version", in additon to the "US Gold Edition".
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
New links are also up for Russian, Polish, Czech, and Japanese versions.
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Just to check, when you've downloaded and installed the patch, is the version number in the Kingdoms option screen supposed to be 1.05? It's just that I heard that this is patch 1.5, not 1.05.
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
I've just successfully installed the US non-gold patch. Unlike previous M2 incarnations, it says "1.05" after installation.
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
IS CA working on this patch error or this is as far as they go and those who get the error are screwed?
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Well, I just redownloaded the patch and now it updated fine.... Thanks!
Terry :2thumbsup:

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
.
The feature list does not mention the removal of the malware rootkit so-called copy protection, so I conclude that it's not been included.
Thanks CA for the great MTW and good RTW. I'm not going to buy or promote your future products. Good luck with your endeavours.
Mouzafphaerre signing off.

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
guess they're all paranoid. I have had it installed since release and have had no problems myself or read of any problems caused by it (and yes I did look).

Has nothing to do with being paranoid... I just recently bought the Kingdoms expansion, thinking that all the glitches would be ironed out by now. Then I went searching for Kingdom's updates prior to installing it and found this thread...
I was rather disappointed that they have chosen to install protection that does not remove itself in the uninstall process. Consequently, I will not install the Kingdoms Expansion on my system, until such a means is provided. Also, I will not be adding anymore CA software to my collection until such means is provided. It is the height of arrogance to deliberately install software that cannot be uninstalled when it becomes necessary.

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
Is this a joke ?
This patch has been in work for MONTHES, only to give... that ?
Still no ironing out of the vanilla troubles.
Still no change to the ridiculous cohesion/mélée problems.
Still no change to the intrusive copy protection.
Well, one customer less, CA. I'm not about buying more products if they are so lacking in finish and include stupid mecanism preventing real fights. And certainly not if they install abusive anti-protection copy (funnily enough, the pirated copies, that anti-copy are supposed to prevent, are much safer to use and don't include malware-equivalent... go figure :dizzy2: ).
Anyway I had no fun with the lethargic fights with most of the combattants standing idle while ten people in the unit are dueling in front of them, and as it still isn't fixed, I give up on the game, and I won't repeat the mistake.
Farewell.

Re: Kingdoms Update Released
You all say that now, but you will be back, just to see how the demo for Empire: Total War goes...
-
Re: Kingdoms Update Released
It's all a matter of human ressources and manhours available for the project, cost calculations etc. How about CA make a TW-WoW mix, we all pay a fortune monthly to play it, then they become insanely rich and can afford to patch old games like Blizzard can? Oh wait, it's better to boycot them into bankruptcy and buy the better alternatives available, that's how capitalism works, yeah, the better...alterna...what??? :inquisitive:

Although i no longer play M2TW, due to a CD Drive update that went terribly wrong and stopped many of my things working, i will continue to play RTW, and perhaps MTW and STW, i will certainly be buying Empire: Total War, youve got my *insert game price here* on that.
