Keep in mind that the starting Princess should probably be married off to one of the RBGs at some point, to help boost the family tree.
I was actually counting on that to happen and its not a problem for me, I'd still play her after she is married. :yes:Quote:

Okay, based on that last comment I'm going to say we should not offer the princess to EF. She may not be what he's looking for, if you know what I mean. :embarassed:

I get worried whenever a group of men sit down to play a blood-n-guts medieval war game and they end up deciding to "take turns being the princess".
That being said, I volunteer to be the first princess.

I have no problems with people roleplaying an agent character of any kind, as long as it is understood that an agent cannot be a Senator in any sense of the term. No voting, no running for office, no advancing in rank. The rules specifically state that people can only use family members and recruitable generals as avatars. If you want to create stories and make IC posts with an agent persona, that's fine. However, you will need a family member or recruitable general in order to do anything outside of storytelling and RP conversation.
I will sign in for a RGB :2thumbsup:

Wow, been busy for a while, and look what happens. Sign me as well!

I figured as much for no voting, no running for office, no advancing in rank. That being said if I don't mind losing all of that, could I play the princess as my main character? I usually like playing a "supporting" role in games anyways.Quote:

You certainly have my support TheFlax.
As long as the player RP'ing the Princess can't veto the FL's decision regarding who she marries.
a.) Marrying off the Princess is a power the FL has and since his influence will probably drop throughout the game, we shouldn't weaken the position too much.
b.) We are roleplaying patriarchy. Back then, if your father was a monarch and told you to marry someone, you did it. I'm sure there were exceptions but it seemed more common to just have someone "on the side". I'm sure that little aspect would be interesting to RP...
Other than that, I say have fun with it. EO showed that a non-voting member can still have tons of influence on the game.
But EO was actually a woman...Flax is not...and that just...well...you know.:beam:
Of course, the princess is often little more than a "tool" for her family. Although in the Byzantine Empire, women sometimes took power and were seen as legitimate, that's not supported by the game and thus won't happen. The princess will have little real power I assume, only a certain amount of influence dependant on the roleplay.Quote:

War ensued, the Empire had too many problems and the emperor sued for peace, thus giving away his sister in marriage even though she still protested.Quote:

If Flax wants to RP Anna, I have no problem with it. However as the FL I'm either going to marry her off to a RGB or a foreign Prince at some point. This would mean that her avatar would disappear from the campaign map.
Now that wouldn't stop any additional RPing, but if Flax wants to fully participate in the game (vote and fight) he'd be better off with a Senator.
Just my two cents.
Uh, If I'd known how you guys would react I wouldn't have tried to joke about RPing a princess. What I tried to say that I'm happy playing whatever elector I get assigned.
Also, for the record I have nothing against either TheFlux or Arnold RPing princess
Will the princess marry TinCow's character?
Will it be possible to seduce the princess after she is married?
Not that I would ever try to start a Civil War or something, oh no, not me...
:creep:
Ahh, so, if we can play princesses can we play someone truly influential? Say, the King's foreign fruitcake?
:egypt:
that could be Tristan! :medievalcheers:
:clown:
I believe ATPG already volunteered for the jester. To be honest, I think this can only enliven the experience, so I'm all for it, so long as people understand that those characters will be constrained.
Aww... I can't be the jester AND the foreign fruitcake?
I was so looking forward to actually dressing as my character and leering lewdly at the screen with bad makeup and lipstick smeared all over my face, professing my undying love for wine and revelry, while sitting on the Emperor's lap.
:focus:
You mean people don't do that normally? Oh dear... I believe I have said to much... :embarassed:Quote:

Should we advertise this in the Entrance? I seem to remember we did that for KotR.
That sounds like a good idea. In the meantime, I'm working on some stuff for the Gahzette for the game.

Welcome georgeman51. Please pick your top 3 choices for avatar from this thread and send them to me via a PM. After Rowan and Smowz have picked their avatars, you will get the top choice that is still available.
