Should I quote Tribesey's by adding a comment saying "That's honour speaking." underneath, I wonder.
Um, no, I'd really avoid populism at all costs.

This is not why I started this topic. :stare:
You can say a hell of a lot about someone when they cannot answer back or defend themselves. So I would very much appreciate if you did not.
Dramatizing belongs to other fellows, I had voiced a mere opinion. However I had to answer so I contributed in the deviation, sorry for that.
And please don't worry, Pindar had read exactly what I've told here about him. He had not much to say rather than insisting that he was the "divine truth" and I doubt his highness would change his mind.
Off I go, please continue. I have unwillingly stirred enough, sorry.
Meh, too much unfriendliness here. When we ought to be discussing Haruchai!! I swear, if he ever posts here again I'll report him to the mods! :smash:
Who else is missing? Occasionaly I read a thread from 2005, and then I realise how many people have come and gone over the years. Bit sad. Can't believe I've been here for so long already. Amazing.
And there are all those lurkers who barely post or are not around much anymore: Soulforged, Prole (get yer arse back into the backroom), the three orgahteers Brenus, Tristus and Meneldil. Doc_Bean. Mouzza. Watchman. Hurin Rules, who made a brief reapperance to present his book and then left.
How about faisal ? After the anti-Islamo rage back then, he felt the need to turn away from Backroom as well.
Don't worry LeftEye, most here agree with you on the Pindar thing - you just have the guts to say it. He was an intellectual snob of the highest order and I can honestly say whenever he entered a discussion here I immediately didn't bother looking at it again - it always ended up 4 pages later of huge posts by him talking about how intellectually great he was ... To himself. Anyway, I don't wanna stir up the clear emotions shown by certain people here, who have a somewhat limited and plain wrong view of the guy. Feel free to call me dishonerable too if you like, it aint bothered me before! :)
:shame: JAG, please... I do not wish for this thread to degenerate to verbal stabs at people who cannot return the favor. Let the dead rest in peace. LEN did.
I've asked the guy who I think may be Red Harvest to drop in. Let us wait and see...
Guts to post feelings on a website?
Who cares what JAG thinks? Smart kid, but he is one of the most biased guys on this site. If he didn't feel that way about Pindar I would be insulted.
It is funny to read JAG call a conservative an "intellectual... of the highest order", though...
You know Jag, you're a very, very intelligent young man, filled with compassion and caring for others. Your parents should be very proud of how you've turned out. But somehow, in your development, you skipped the chapter on learning to respect others with views different than your own. I don't argue that Pindar could be a bit high-brow at times, but I also KNOW that if he took a position closer to your own, you'd have no such problems with him. Learn to respect the views of others and you'd be one of the finest young minds I've had the pleasure to encounter.
LEN, I don't know the personal history between you and Pindar, but I assume there has to be one, as your attacks on him are very out of character for you. You've always struck me as one of the most moderate, most temperate, most empathetic regulars in the backroom. Frankly, I'm a little shocked by the tone of your posts towards Pindar. I always credited you as being much kinder, much friendlier than that. And I know that comes off as a bit hypocritcal with some of the broadsides I've fired off at people in my days, but in truth, I always thought you were nicer than I am.
I can respect people who hold views different to mine - indeed earlier in this thread I stated how I miss Gawain and I respect him... But the problem I had with Pindar wasn't anything to do with his poilitics, merely the way he was here. It is insulting that you would think I can't get along, respect, talk and intereact with people who hold differing opinions to mine.
If I am honest, in this thread I didn't post anything about Pindar and my feelings, and I wasn't going to until I read the attacks on LEN. How dare he get attacked like that by certain people here, who seemingly think they are not only whiter than white, but have some special dispensation at this place. Since when do they have the allowance to attack members, but LEN stating opinion about someone (who doesn't even post here anymore), is an outcast and terrible person. That, quite frankly, pissed me off.
And Tuff - Pindar was an intellectual and a clever guy, regardless of his politics that has to be respected and I have no problem saying it - that has nothing to do with my opinion on the guy. And I am not bias, just clear and direct in what I believe - doesn't mean my views don't change though.
And with that broadside testimonial, we shall end this particular phase of the "Where are they Now?" show (yes, it has been done before, repeatedly. And, no doubt, will be again.).
Several things are clear:
Love them or hate them, oldtimers are missed for their input and style.
"Honour" is highly valued by backroomers. And
we can fight over any old topic suggested.
Thanks for all contributions.
