Alliances will be a difficult thing to manage, especially when people supporting the same faction of conflicting views on whether a faction should be allied to that other faction or not. Because of that, I suppose Factions should have a King/External Policy Leader (Simply meaning a person who decides who the factions allies to). Imagining I didn't like the Mayans but glyphz did. I'd be cancelling the alliance everytime I post and glyphz'd be making the alliance everytime he posts, for instance. It'd suck.

It should be illegal for states to be allied when one is engaged in removing points from the ally of the other.
There should be rules which automatically negate an alliance. And there should be time limits or something, so one cannot forge an alliance just to gain a bunch of points, then cancel it immediately.
More thinking needs to be put into the alliance system, methinks. Otherwise I don't understand it.

yeah, instead you should do an ultrawar, like i did a while back, every faction has a 1 representative and them alone decide all motives for that faction, all untaken factions should be removed, and people without a faction should not be able to vote
i pick mayans if u think this is an ok system :laugh4:

Well, all of you bring up very good points about the alliance system, but I'd like to make it clear - only those who originally forged the Alliance can break it. For instance, the Alliance between Mayans and Portugal can only be broken by Glyphz or Ares - thus that faction in the end does end up with an "ambassador, or foreign relations minster".
Also, by an Alliances very nature, makes it moot to remove points from your ally and giving a point to yourself - the mechanic will negate any change.
As for time limits - I didn't add any because I wanted some serious backstabbing, but, that is a good point, so either we start from the beginning again, or from now on all Alliance last a minimum of 96 hours (or a better suggested time).

I have sent a message to Jolt concerning his interests about the Portuguese-Mayan alliance. As Jolt was the first to support Portugal, I recognize him as the one who has the final say on alliances. If he wishes to break the alliance, I will do so.

The alliance with the Mayans is on. Death to the Spanish guys! Has anyone read my suggestion of the point addition thingy? It's pretty clear imo.

My post here added 1 to Mongols and took away 1 from the Timurids... yet look and behold, when Beefy made the next post, my points were gone! :dizzy2:
So all of the later scores should have Mongols as 12 and Timurids as 8.
