To the rest of you, I have had a ctd after a battle and now im trying to recuperate after autoresolving. (I won the battle but with massive casualties) So when all is said and done, ill have an update for you. Thanks for reading.
If you get a ctd after a battle, or if you ctd before you even get into it, you can use auto_resolve attacker if attacking or auto_resolve defender if defending.
Unless you want to roleplay them having a bad day at the battle every once in a while :whip:

Re: Thassalokratia- A Carthaginian AAR
The thing is that it is the battle from the chapter 'siga'. I won the battle but yah. Its ok, just gonna take me a bit longer than usual to update. Thanks for your patience.

Re: Thassalokratia- A Carthaginian AAR
Ok, after somehow ruining my EB, reinstalling it and making sure everything works (dont worry i have all the savegames) i finally figured how to do what I wanted to do (2 hours later.) Sorry about the delay, but I PROMISE a VERY JUICY update tommorow. Im so excited for it I dont think im gonna be able to fall asleep right now! (oh well, gives me more time to think about it in my head and perfect it!)

Re: Thassalokratia- A Carthaginian AAR
Dude if you fought a battle and won but it ctded then go back and if you're attacking type "auto_win attacker" and if you're defending type "auto_win defender" then roleplay you're losses from the last battle by disbanding units. Remember if the enemy sallies you're the one defending. Great job.

Lilibeo
https://img17.imageshack.us/img17/81...amalcar2nd.jpg
Kanmi shuddered as the days events played through his head. In charge of Lilibeo when Hamalcar left, he knew his fate was sealed. His was sick to his stomach, looking back as the burning city, still hearing cries from the innocent there. In his arms he clutched a boy, who at the age of 10 is witnessing atrocities that no young boy should.
Several other boats were racing away from the city. 6 or 7 to possibly, but Kanmi wouldn't know until all the smoke was gone. Another boat sailed up to his and a man from the second boat spoke to Kanmi.
"We didn't find her lord, she must have been in her Villa." Maharbaal said to Kanmi.
The words pierced Kanmi even more. "Turn the boat around, were going to go get her!" Kanmi yelled at his first mate, never letting go of the boy he held.
"Sir, that is madness, the Romans control the coast, we'll be lucky if we get to Kart-Hadast alive! We need to sail as fast as we can from here!"
"Polymede's blood is on my hands! How will I live now!?" Kanmi yelled back at his first mate.
The first mate moved quickly up to Kanmi, so that he could speak some sense into him.
"Sir, we have the boy, Hamalcar will forgive you. He is a good man. WE MUST PROTECT THE BOY." The first man yelled at Kanmi, being just a few inches from his face.
There was a pause, and in that moment you could see the disgust in Kanmi's eyes. He nearly fell over, if it weren't for the boy he held in his hands. He was standing behind the boy, his hands on the shoulders of the lad. He wasn't exactly holding him, just making sure that the boy would not go anywhere.
Kanmi sat on a crate, as the boat rocked him. The boy just stood motionless, as if he was a statue. Even with the boat rocking, he did not try to move to balance himself, he just stood there, unmovable.
----
In a week, they arrived at Gader. News of the fall of Lilibeo had already reached the ears of Hamalcar. He personally waited at the city's port every day for it to come. When the ships came, Hamalcar waited until everyone was off, searching the faces of the crowds for his son and wife. He saw Kanmi, walking behind Hamalcar II, still having his hands on the boys shoulders. When Kamni neared Hamalcar, he fell to his knees and cried like a child.
Kanmi and Hamalcar had been good friends since they were toddlers. Some would say even best friends. The boy just stood there, only his 2 little eyes examining the surroundings around him, while the rest of his body motionless. He fists clenched so hard that his nails were cutting into the palm of his hand.
Hamalcar, with tears in his eyes spoke, his voice shaking. "Where is my wife." It wasn't a question. It was a demand. Everyone stood still, only Kanmi sobbed at Hamalcar's feet.
"WHERE IS MY WIFE! WHERE!? WHERE IS SHE!??!" Hamalcar yelling in his Punic tongue. Many of the city's residents spoke Lusitanian, and were wondering what this was all about.
Then, Hamalcar too fell to the ground and cried like a child, next to Kanmi. The crowd was a bit uneasy to leave at first, but eventually everyone left. Only the child stood there watching two grown men cry all of their tears out onto the pavement in the port of Gader.
A bodyguard of Hamalcar later came to take the boy into the local government house to clean up the boy and give him something to eat. The boy cleaned himself, and ate whatever they gave him. The servants were surprised at the capacity of the boys hunger. That night, while lying in bed, not being at able to sleep, Hamalcar II thought of what happened to his mother. Enraged, he got out of bed and followed the noise in the silent halls to where he thought he heard his father.
He walked up to the door and heard two men speaking, Hamalcar's and Kanmi's voices were the two he heard. Taking a breath, the boy walked in. Hamalcar looked at the boy, but said nothing.
Then the boy spoke. "When age permits, I will use fire and steel to arrest the destiny of Rome." The words came out so smoothly, without hate or disgust, almost innocently, but they were clear as day. The boy meant what he said.

Awesome! A new Hannibal!:laugh4: but especially:skull: to romans!
But seriously, great chapter man! Only one thing: when narrating try not to repet a word too many times, (boy) you could have also said "him".
Still great chapter.

Re: Thassalokratia- A Carthaginian AAR
Again a great Chapter! Looking forward to reading more (and more and more) of it

Thank you, I was very excited in writing this one.
To the rest of you who lurk and don't comment, im not offended. Although im writing this for my own pleasure, its always nice to know there are people out there reading and knowing about your creativity.
Oh, and do bear with me, I understand I don't include a lot of actual game play details, and my chapters are usually text heavy but I think that makes a good story. Thank you.

Re: Thassalokratia- A Carthaginian AAR
Carthage's huge variety makes for truly fantastic AAR material.
Of course EB's huge level of detail helps a lot, I wish XGM could have the same resources at its disposal...

Re: Thassalokratia- A Carthaginian AAR
Oh, I hope that my latest comment to you lurkers didn't sound like a plee for comments. I did not mean that at all, but thanks for commenting anyways!

That, and the fact that there are very few Carthaginian AAR really helps me be very original! (I hope)

Re: Thassalokratia- A Carthaginian AAR
Gader
Gader, a city that owed its allegiance to Thassalokratia of Kart-Hadast, that payed its taxes to this city, for what? Protection from its own cousins in blood, the Lusitanian? Gader fell to Hamalcar's Father many years ago during the First Iberian War. He treated the city fairly, after seeing the soldiers bravery in battle, and allowed its independence, so long that it payed its taxes and offered its young to fight in the many wars that the city of Kart-Hadast had participated in.
That was about to change today, or so hoped Hamalcar. Officially, not in charge, Hamalcar had hoped to win over the council in the city. He waited patiently, going over what he wanted to say in his head as the council gathered. It was a few days since his beloved wife Polymede, died, but he was making his recovery. He didn't allow himself to get attached to many things. It wasn't that he didn't miss her, its that he was good at forgetting. He kept himself busy with many things.
The council gathered, and there was much chatter from the men. Hamalcar looked over the faces and tried to remain relaxed and casual. He was always good at that. His good looks allowed people to look at him and awe, sometimes winning them over just by looking at them. Now that he was single, he could use that to sway the men over with a proper marriage.
Avaro, a tall man who looked more like a warrior than a politician and manager of a city looked at Hamalcar and spoke. "Hamalcar, you have gathered us to this meeting with what purpose, speak wisely, as we despise fools."
Before Hamalcar had a chance to speak, another man stood, this one, shorter, and looked as if he could out drink you any day. His hair was wild, his beard untrimmed, yet he did not look violent at all. Rather, he had quite the silly smile on his face. The man spoke as well, but not to Hamalcar, instead he turned to his colleges and said, "He wishes to tell us we need to increase taxes so that he can have a much bigger vineyard than all of you, after all we know that a citizen of Kart-Hadast is so much more important than we, the council of Gader."
There was laughter amongst the men. Some turned to Hamalcar to see his reaction, only to be disappointed that Hamalcar was laughing himself. This time Hamalcar stood and spoke, letting his crowd winning silver tongue work its magic.
"Men of Gader, My story isn't long, but it sure isn't a pleasant one. I was born in Kart-Hadast. Raised in a royal family, I was the 3rd oldest son in the family. Realizing that I was in a disadvantages position, I studied hard, fought hard, and worked hard. But that means nothing with no support. My brother, Mago, has insulted me many times, the last time it killed my wife and scarred my son."
He paused for a moment to see the expressions on the faces of the men. He saw that he caught most of their attention, and now he could say what he really wanted to say.
"I wish to live a life where I know I did the right thing. That I helped the right people. Let me help you. As you all know that you have a fixed tax which you owe Kart-Hadast every 3 months. If you give me the power of a governor, I could lower the taxes with my authority. It would completely change the setting in which you live in. The poor could feed their family, the merchants, bring more cargo without paying more, and you my friends," He paused again after saying the word 'friends', for he did not know how they would react, but seeing no disgusted faces in the crowd he continued, "you my friends, will keep more of your money to outgrow my vineyard, which is still in its stage of infancy."
Hamalcar let the words sink in. It was like being at a foreign land and being served a strange dish. You would put a small portion on your eating utensil, and put it slowly in your mouth, letting it swirl around in your mouth before you chewed and finally swallowed it. You would either politely smile, and keep eating it, knowing that you hate it, or, you would continue eating it with great joy, realizing there is more to food than what you thought there was.
For the men of the council, it was the later. The crowd was won. Hamalcar smiled with his success. He spent the day treating the men of the council with a great feast. Wild boars have been caught and cooked over a pit for these men. Endless vats of wine were served until the men all fell into a great stupor.
--------
The next day, Hamalcar was given the title of Governor of Gader. He personally wrote a letter to Mago in front of the men and sent it off to Kart-hadast, stating that the taxes would be lowered. He spent the latter part of the day talking of improvements that could be made in this city and province. He knew, that without taxes he would need another source of income. For that he offered making a clearing in the center of the city and creating a much larger Bazaar.
https://img8.imageshack.us/img8/6844/bazaar.jpg
The men liked the idea, following him as he walked the streets and talked about rebuilding this great city. He even ventured to say that all Kart-Hadast owned lands, which were not being used at all, could be given to merchants and businessmen to exploit. Much happened that day as businessmen, both wealthy and the not so wealthy poured out much of their treasury buying from the great land grant which Hamalcar had enacted.
https://img11.imageshack.us/img11/4133/landgrant.jpg
Avaro had become good friends with Hamalcar, seeing that he was wise in his management and was very open handed. Many other men of the council started trusting his as well. Soon the whole province began to adore Hamalcar. This was was just the beginning. His looks would take him even further.

Wow, sorry about the text heavy post. :sweatdrop: I got a bit carried away with that. I know that im making a lot of statements that are ahistorical (like hamalcar's father conquering spain) and wish not to offend anyone. Thanks for reading.

Well, back then people got married for political reasons, and Hamalcar could marry one of the daughters of the men of the council in order to get a blood relation. Thats what I meant.

And don't worry about the historical accuracy, changing history is what RTW and EB are all about.

Re: Thassalokratia- A Carthaginian AAR
Lixus and Muttines
Another restless night has slipped past Hanno. He got up out of bed, dropping his exhausted feet on the floor of his tent. Getting dressed he took a peek outside. It was still dark, but one could tell that the dawn was coming. In the distance he could see Lixus, a city of the Numidians.
Hanno ached everywhere. He felt old, worn out, and helpless. He lost a lot of weight and was barely getting any sleep. His long beard, untrimmed, made him look worse than a beggar. Dressed in his full panalopy of war he woke Danel with his stirring.
"Go back to bed, its too early." Danel said, half asleep.
"Danel, I need you to do me a favor today." Hanno whispered, getting on his knees next to Danel's cot.
Danel, getting up and rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, looked at Hanno and his feeble body.
"Anything for you friend. You know that." Starting to wake up.
"Today, you will lead the army against the city. I cannot, I feel as if im cursed." Hanno plead.
Danel looked at Hanno and sighed, Hanno looked terrible, not the man he knew before this expedition.
"Ok my friend, I will, but let me sleep for a bit longer." Danel said while falling back into his warm bed.
"Thank you." Hanno said. He then walked out of the tent to talk to the men who were on guard duty.
---------------------------------------
The sun was at the peak of its power when the rams finally hit the wall. The battle had started. Hanno took off his heavy armour, being able to relax his exhausted muscle. He knew what he had to do today. Leaving only the belt for his sword, he grabbed Gisco's sword and started walking to the center of the campout, where Muttines was being held.
Muttines was chained in stockes and held in the center of the campsite at all time, for fear of his escape attempt. Soldiers often hurled insults at him, but Hanno made sure he was properly clothed and fed. In all actually, Muttines ate better than Hanno.
After the slaughter at Kirtan, Hanno's health began fading. He tried his best to not show it to the troops, and for the most part he hid it well. Slaughtering was not the business of Hanno. Many a men had died to his sword. So many nights he woke up in his cold sweat, only to realize that the dead were just a dream. And then there was Muttines. He felt bad for the man. He had such pride in him, he just couldn't stand holding him hostage anymore. He needed to kill him. He wanted to, in front of the troops, but that would be unjust.
That is why he was going to kill him now. Muttines stirred as he saw Hanno walking to him with a sword in his hand. Muttiness stood as straight as he could, hands at his side, looking into the distance, ready to go.
"I understand, but please kill me quickly." Muttines said calmly.
Hanno walked behind Muttines and with a loud thud the stocks came free. Muttines jumped from the shock and then fell to the ground. Hanno threw Gisco's sword at Muttines' feet. Muttines looked at the sword and then at Hanno, still a bit shocked at the days events.
"Get up, we fight today. Man to man. If you kill me, you are free. There is no one here to stop you from running." Hanno said, pulling out his own sword from his belt.
Muttines grabbed the sword and jumped to his feet. Realizing there was no shield and armour protecting Hanno he smiled. He had met a fair man.
"Why do you do this my friend, you could have killed me so easily."
"Never mind that, fight me."
Both men were circling each other as they looked into each others eyes. Hanno took the initiative and lunged at Muttines. His body was sore, his mind, blurred with exhausted, he missed his target and fell to the ground after Muttines dodged his lunge with ease. Muttines seeing his opportunity, hit Hanno with the flat part of his sword over the head. Hanno let out a "Ouch.." and then went blank to the world.
----------------
"HANNO! WAKE UP! PLEASE!"
Hanno looked up, and then dropped his head again because of the pain. Danel was shaking him ferociously.
"Im fine, stop that." Hanno, said with a bit of disappointment.
"Lord, Muttines, he escaped!" Danel saying to Hanno.
"That he did." Hanno said while getting up. Danel helped his to his feet.
"Should we send riders?" Danel said to Hanno, getting a bit impatient.
Hanno realized that he was in his own tent, lying in his own bed. His sword was in its sheath, and Gisco's was lying next to the bed.
"No, im sure he left hours ago. We'll talk about this tommorow." Hanno saying that as he looked outside to realize it was evening. Hanno smiled. For the first time in a year or so. He smiled.
"Now lets drink to our success, Danel. Let us celebrate." Hanno saying to Danel with such happiness that Danel himself was surprised.
"Lord.." Danel started speaking.
"No, today we get drunk with wine until we pass out." Hanno stopped Danel.
And that is what they did. Hanno fell asleep in his cot and slept well into the next day. He never slept better.
