Re: MTW Historical Re-enacttment Battles
BUMP for the ORGINAL HOOOOOOWWWWWLLLLEEEERR !!!
Re: MTW Historical Re-enacttment Battles
Heh I remember seeing the beginning of this thread before I started playing MP. Good idea it was, I had been thinking before this summer of having some historical battles with clannies, based on a custom era (more suitable factions and units for such battles, had the general layout of some maps like Manzikert drawn) we were about to start working on but things happened and ...
Anyway, bump just for the bumpity of it:)
Re: MTW Historical Re-enacttment Battles
Are people still interested in this idea. I am particulary interested in doing any linked to the hundred years war.
Drop me a reply if you are interested.
Re: MTW Historical Re-enacttment Battles
...we could do a Crécy for starters;)
This week though we 'll be getting into the final phase before the release of the Dux mp mod beta, so maybe in a tenday a re-enactment using new units like English Foot Knights, Chevaliers Royaux, Genoese Crossbowmen and many others could be possible.
Re: MTW Historical Re-enacttment Battles
Yes Crecy would be fine
Just let me know who else is interested.

Cain rises his hand :san_rolleyes:
Re: MTW Historical Re-enacttment Battles
Don't roll eyes at the same time Cain heh
It wouldn't be hard to find another 3-4 people willing to participate anyway.
I also think that the current historical maps in VI aren't that suitable for MP play and historical re-enactments, due to their size (not suitable for 4v4) and the fact that they are not presenting the players with good starting positions. As historical battles in SP are scripted, the player isn't placed on a north-south axis, but rather where the scripter wants him to start. So maybe I 'll try to come up with a custom made map based on Osprey, time permitting.
Re: MTW Historical Re-enacttment Battles
Well, Im crap at history and dont know much about it. But Alex, I'll participate if u guys need a player.
:san_cool:

I problem Ive always found is that its difficult to get a team together at the same time online. Maps and starting positions can be over come and a 4v4 battle can be achieved with a little imagination.
But it always comes back to the same problem getting a team together, on a regular basis. Clans of similar interest dont have this problem as they collect together and if they become large enough will always have enough people to take part. (When shades were running at its peak in Shogun we always gathered together on Friday night for games. When shades progressed to join with Battle royale over on the Battlefield games this continued)
My suggest would be to form a team (not as a clan) who share history as an interest, preferably the same period ie 1066-500 as an example. From that you could start to put the nucleus together to form a groups of online battlers who enjoy reinactments.
