It was in extra time. That was painful. Especially at 5am.Quote:

Gudjohnsen's shot, I was :scared: scared, I honestly thought we were out when it came to him.
6 mins, what was that all about???
But hey, we're in the final!!
the 6 minutes were probably due to the 2 ( drunk ? ) guy's that ran up on the field, can't think of any other way why they woul have added 6 minutes.
That was about 2 mins tops. I think they added the 6 mins cos it's two big English teams and they could just keeep the suspense a while longer and those 6 mins were pretty suspenseful.
god damn 3-1 in added time .
God I really hte those Italians.
PSV had neverr been so close and alle the hard work just get's spoiled in the added time....
would have been nice to see the 2 underdogs play against each other in the finals.
Yeah shame not to have an Anglo-Dutch final. Still your guys will be allowed to play in next year's Championship, unlike Liverpool at this rate...Quote:

yeah I know, to bad.
well better next year.
BTW it's an interresting situation I agree that 5 English teams is just to much.
However the winner should always be allowed to play the following year
I feel the same way. :furious3:Quote:

AC Milan, YOU DON'T DESERVE THIS, PSV WOULD HAVE, I HATE YOU, AC MILAN!
I don't know, players leave mostly, the Dutch clubs all had one (and only one) year of fame, PSV now, Feyenoord won the Uefa Cup few years ago, and AJAX SHOULD HAVE been in the semi-finals of the champions league two years ago.Quote:

Milan Do deserve to be in the final, Ther experiance won them the games. 3 lapses of Concentration at vital times by PSV Showed that they are not Europian cup winning pedigree. You have to concentrate until the whistle goes, not stop a minuit before thinking your safe as PSV did on 3 seperate occasions over the 2 legs costing them 3 soft goals.
Dutch clubs can't hold a candle against clubs like these, we just don't have the money to compete. PSV should have won that match I think.Quote:

They will be back next year (I belive they just sowed up the Dutch Championship?) and hopfully their playes will have learned from this and be an even stronger force next season. (Hopfully they will buy Kezman back from us!!!!! however i think we will keep Robben!)
Milan is of an entire different lague, I thought it was kind of moving to see how well PSV performed. I was expecting slaughter (or better 'slow death' italian style) and I was given a spectacular match. PSV may become a real european player after all, despite it being a low-budget club from a small dutch town!
Yup They play in Serie A (sorry couldent resist that. ~:) )
No you are Right about the Gulf between the sides, but the dutch have been competitive in europe through the late 80's to the late 90's so i dont believe their clubs (Well PSV Ajax and maybe Feynoord sp?) have fallen 2 far behind the English spanish and Italian sides. Bayern are the only real side in germany that match the clubs from the other 3.
PSV Had some top class talent on display last night, Mark van Bommel is on his way to Barca by the looks of it, Cocu has done it all in europe, and that Jan Vennigoor of Hesslinke looks good even if his name is a bit of a mouthfull!
you also have to remeber that the Current Europian champions are FC Porto so the Gulf in class is narrowing across the continent I believe. Many clubs have had to tighten the purse strings after the rediculous inflation in transfer fees and wages of the late ninteies and many clubs are only feeling the affect now (Esp in Italy, look at the state of Parma, Lazio and Fiorentina all were top europian sides as little as 5 years ago... and in england look at Leeds Utd, and Chelsea were in serious trouble until good sir Abramovic of the Kings Road came and saved the day!) this is giving the others a chance to catch up and level the playing field. We are also starting to see a great new generation of footballer emerge across the continet as clubs realise they cant afford these wage bills and have to bring the youth through.
You are still going to have the heavy weights (like Milan) but they are no means invincible as PSV came so close to proving last night and Liverpool did prove by beating Chelsea on Tuesday.
What a mid-week of international high calibre football. Two top draw games that show why the Champions League is the World's premier football tournament. But this weekend, I'm thinking national games will be more exciting as the leagues come to an end. My Game of this Saturday? MIDDLESBROUGH v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
It might look like a boring mid-table English clash, but actually its so much more. The winner will almost certainly go on to play in the UEFA cup next season, which is a big deal for these two clubs. Boro are looking to strike out of being nationally famous into the international scene, where as Spurs are looking to return to a status they once took for granted.
Both clubs have come through a lot to be here, especially Boro when you consider they've had around 6-10 first team quality players injured throughout the season, yet they've struggled on with a fine crop of young English players.
A draw would set up a final day photo-finish and would also give Man City a chance to get back into it.
yes exactley, you normally can't compare the skill and experiance that PSV has to that of Milaan.Quote:

Too bad you don't get points for wanting to win... ~;)
Also Milaan has shown us that in these 2 matches, were as PSV would dominate 90 minutes, Milaan would own the 91 st .
That ''talent '' proved fatal , 3 times.
But even though Milaan went to the next round, not many teams can say the have won against them with 3-1, you can probably count those teams on one hand.
That alone can make their CL adventure complete.
Too bad though , that they gave away that one minute of the game.
Would have made a great final.
Yes!!!
Sporting in the UEFA Cup Final!!!
I will be there!!! GO SPORTING!!!
~
Argh , that was just luck ...
AZ was leading with 3-1 till the last minute added time of the 2nd added time period ( or something like that :P )
Didn't see the game myself , but judging from what I read about the game they should have been a little more concentrated in that particular minute....
It's becoming a dutch habit of losing in the last minute....
oh god my house was on the verge of a mental breakdown, everyone screaming. but it was a hell of a match. and even touhg they didn't reached the finals. they actualy played it that night.
i have to see if the final is going to be as exiting as this match
I understand your enthousiasm, but seen the last match AZ deseved to go on, didn't they?Quote:

Cmon King Edward, think of it:
PSV is better than Milan during 180 minutes of play, and Milan is better during about 15 minutes of play, who deserves to go to the final?
Milan is good, but they didn't play good!
They did, actually, 3-1, remember?Quote:

I know PSV and Milan are better than AZ and Sporting the fact reamains you can still draw a parrallel between that CL Semi and Uefa cup semi.
They both got knocked out for the same reason. Lack of Experiance in Europe. Milan played badly PSV played well, but Milans experiance meant they were waiting when PSV made a mistake. Unfortunatly for them they made 3 and Milan Capitalised.
Likewise Sporting have a more experianced europian side than AZ. In both competitions the best side advanced to the final in those 2 ties.
The fact that PSV Beat Milan 3-1 is irellvant as Milan beat PSV 2-0 a week before.
Well drisos i agree it was an epic match with a lucky goal for Sporting, however this was a semifinal round and you should analyse both matches.
In 1st leg in Lisbon, Sporting win for 2-1. Like yesterday AZ score first, but after that they just defend! Sporting play mutch better and did have some oppurtunities to increse the score to 3-1.
Yesterday AZ play better, but Sporting never quit and score 2 goals in AZ stadium. Maybe both deserve to be in the final...
I guess you're right, I haven't seen the first match, if Sporting was the better team in Lissabon I think they did deserve it to go on, like King Edward sais: If you cannot be good in every minute, you don't deserve to go to the final.Quote:

King Edward, sorry for quoting you not entirely correct, but this is generally what you mean, isn't it?
