sorry for the long wait, but I've been quite busy with school stuff, so I think it'll be next wednesday I post that. :embarassed:Quote:

Because of my very late response I kind of forgot about the battles. Luckily I wrote some notes, but still the reports won't be that great this year, SORRY!
Summer 1539
44 Koku (no money again :( )
-----------------------------
Uesugi and hojo have enormous armies, I hope they'll soon fight each other. I am going to check that with shinobi's soon, I think.
I'm in a bad position, Totomi has low loyalty, but I need my men to defend Mikawa from the Oda clan. So I don't know where to place them, I need more of them.
I think I will attack Buzen soon, because Shimazu's army isn't growing and I'd like to gain the Imagawa regions that lay behind Buzen. They'll provide me with more Koku. Before I do this, I need some more sam. in Aki, so I can defend against R&R adn attack Shimazu
Autumn 1539
44 Koku!
-------------
I've got very small armies in Totomi, suruga and Izu now, because they can't be attacked by my enemies anyway.(hojo could attack Izu, but I trust him, hopefully he keeps loyal to me)
Suddenly, there are Rebels in Mikawa, while I had taxes at 75%. I don't like it, maybe there an enemy shinobi in there, but first I need to hold on to Mikawa. Losing it again would be very annoying, luckily I have a good army:
Daimyo ****
60 ashi's h3.
60 cav archer h1
120 cav archers h2
Mikawa is easy to defend, but I need to do something against the loyalty. Everytime I have money, I spend it on my armies, not on shinobi's.
Because I had to play my tourniment match today, I can't finish the year.
I made the screenies, I think I'll post them and the next two seasons tomorrow.
hope ya still like it. When I finish, I can finally actually play it again. ~:)
Winter 1540
Good season - 1257 Koku. YES!
------------------------------
The palace has been finished in Kai, so my men have higher morale now. I think the next step will be a drill dojo.
*************The second defence of Mikawa**************
I have to defend Mikawa from the Rebels. The weather is good, and I have lots of cav archers. His army will probably be 50% ashigaru, so it's gonna be easy.
I position my archers at a small distance behind the bridge, and wait till they cross it. My archers kill very much of his low-armour ashigaru and they flee everytime they cross the bridge and I charge in with my ashi's.
They keep trying and loose very much men, and I don't loose any. I keep shooting until I'm out of ammo. Then I sent my cav over the bridge and chased his men that immediately fled when they saw me coming. I was much faster and killed almost all his men.
I win: 390 kills, 2 losses. In total I gained 3 honour. This battle gave me more then it took me.
*************************************************
I knew Oda and the Rebels were constantly at war, but now R&R suddely invaded Mino with a large army. The Oda tried fighting, but they lost and got trapped in their own castle. This is great news, Mino is an important region and Oda will be much weaker now, because of this I can easily attack Owari soon.
I start building a drill dojo in Kai, so my men will become even better.
I train 60 cav archers in Kai, they're doing great in the campaign so far.
Spring 1540
382 Koku(!)
-----------
The loyalty is pretty good now in all my regions, so I can start thinking about Shinano maybe? Shinano would be great to train cav. and it is a very strategic region. I can attack several regions from there and it is easy to defend.
Oda attacked R&R in Mino again, from Owari and from his sieged castle. He loses again!! Yes, oda's power has been broken now! I can concentrate on other clans again, like the Shimazu.
I train 60 sam archers in Kai. They would be good to position in Shinano for it's defence when I have conquered it.

I'm glad I finally finished this year. I can finally play on now. I will keep reporting. Enjoy! ~:)
Thanks for posting this campain thread Drisos.
That's a lot of troops in Musashi and Sagami! Uesugi in Musashi could be hard to deal with.
But you have Takeda Shingen now. Will we see him in action soon?
I want to see some fights! :charge: :duel:
Thank you for reading it and liking it! :bow:Quote:

I got to playing another year this weekend, but I kind of messed up my notes. It could take some days before I post it.
Grats drisos, very good story!
It's about 4 years since i last played Shogun :embarassed: but i think it can easily rival MTW and RTW, not to mention it made a much bigger impact when it was released than the 2 other titles. I do plan on getting back to it though, it's just my Ph.D taking so much of my free time.
I do remember however that the green guys island (shimazu)isn't too tough to take while the imagawa have 2 provinces quite rich there. It's also a "take and forget" area as u won't have any borders with anyone ~:) . You could also then invade the entirely ronin island which is just south of ur western lands.
A question: how come the red guys haven't attacked you yet?
My strat when playing the Takeda was to retreat all my armies from the west and use it along with the eastern army to take the east Imagava lands. I think it works better.
Anyway, keep posting, great stuff.
Thanks ~:)Quote:

Holiday has finally started.
Two more years coming up today. ~:)
enjoy!
Summer 1540
82 Koku :(
-------------
I have decided to invade shinano. There is no single rebel unit so there will be no fight. I send:
60 sam archers w1h2 with a three star gen.
120 ashi w1h1
plus lots of used units, with only a few soldiers left
I think I'll need to defend Shinano from the Uesugi, but I don't know how much he has in Kozuke, so I'm not sure. In case he has a small garrison, I think I'll knock out his training ability by defeating him in Kozuke. Any way, shinano will provide me of more money, which I need.
Because I sent my armies to Shinano, Totomi and Suruga are now empty, but that's no problem, as no one can attack me there and loyalty is good enough.
Takeda family:
Daimyo:
Takeda Nobutora = 47 years old 4-star gen.
Heirs:
Takeda Shingen = 19 years old 6-star gen.
Takeda Nobushige = 12 years old, not a gen yet
Takeda Nobukado = 4 years old, not a gen yet
Autumn 1540
still 82 Koku
-------------
Shinano won't be hard to keep. The Rebel regions; Mino, Hida, Etchu and Echigo have small armies or not an army at all, so they won't dare attacking me.
Uesugi has a small army in Kozuke, and I think I'll attack him soon.
Uesugi finally did it: they invaded Sagami! My ally the Hojo clan luckily wo and killed pretty much. Unfortunately Uesugi still has a big army and Musashi won't be easy to invade. Plus, if I invade it and win, there will be nothing left for the Hojo then to attack me. I'd better concentrate on Kozuke first. I hope Uesugi weakens himself more by losing in Sagami more often.
Loyalty has been improving so I set the taxes back up to 90%.
Allies:
Hojo + Takeda
vs.
Oda + Shimazu + Imagawa + Uesugi
Winter 1541
1298 Koku :)
--------------
I train 60 Yari sam in Aki. I might want to attack the Rebels there sometime.
Unfortunately, the Oda had much Koku and have trained an army again in Owari. It is quite big and I send some troops from Shinano to mikawa in order to defend it in case Oda wants the region back.
The drill dojo is now finished in Kai. I don't know what will be the next building to improve my power there.
I start building a castle in Shinano. I want to have a cav dojo there soon.
I train 60 yari sam in Kai, and send some more troops to Shinano, because I'm now quite sure I'll attack Kozuke soon. It will hopefully break the Uesugi clan.
Spring 1541
648 Koku (!) I'll spend it on more men
------------------------------------
Shimazu still has a very small army in Buzen, and I want to expand in the west. I move several units from Aki and Iwami to Nagato in order to attack him soon.
I train 60 cav archers in Kai, who will probably help attacking Kozuke soon.
I checked the map in the throneroom for the number of regions of each clan:
*****
Takeda Clan = 10 regions
Hojo Clan = 1 region
Takeda/Hojo alliance = 11 regions
*****
Shimazu Clan = 11 regions
Uesugi Clan = 5 regions
Oda Clan = 2 regions
Imagawa Clan = 1 region
Shimazu/Uesugi/Oda/Imagawa alliance = 19 regions
*****
The Mori Clan does not exist.
The R&R have 30 regions, Japan's great clans have 30 together too.
*****
I have conquered 8 regions since the beginning of my campaign, and am one the clans with the greatest territory. I should especially concentrate on defeating the Shimazu now, but also keep an eye on the Uesugi clan.
Summer 1541
273 Koku :(
-------------
The castle in Shinano is now finished. When I get more Koku I will use it to build a big castle and a cav dojo.
I train 69 more Yari sam in Kai, in order to have troops to defend Kai and Shinano when I attack Kozuke. I also drop taxes to 75% again, because I'll nearly abandon Shinano because of the attack on Kozuke.
The Important assault from shinano to Uesugi-HQ Kozuke:
60 sam archers h2w1, a *** gen.
60 cav archers h0w1
60 yari sam h2w1
60 yari sam h2
60 yari cav h1
60 yari cav h1w1
39 yari cav h3
Next turn I'll invade Buzen from nagato.
Autumn 1541
73 Koku :( Luckily I get more soon
---------------------------------
When the R&R saw me moving to Nagato for the attack on buzen, they decided to attack Iwami. It's 180 of me and 409 of them, because I'm outnumbered, I give up.
I decide to wait a while with the attack on buzen and first to re-conquer Iwami.
I attack Iwami again:
120 Sam archers
180 Yari sam
120 Yari ashigaru
420 men in total, a *** gen.
I leave very few men in Aki, Suo and Nagato in order to wipe the R&R out of Iwami again.
************Attack on kozuke****************
It's good weather, I have 399 men and must face 313 men of the Uesugi clan.
I first form my army into a group. Archers at the front, inf behind them and cav to the flanks. I see Uesugi Tomooki has taken position in front of a small forest at the northeast corner of Kozuke, At the top of a small hill.
In order to avoid attacking a hill, I move my grouped army to the northwest, and am going to flank his entire army.
He does not respond to my movement until it's too late. I have taken position at the border behind him, on higher ground. Maybe his gen. is a bit sleepy today? he moves his inf line to a forest to my right flank, on even lower ground. He moves his Daimyo and archers to me. The archers are an easy prey for my yari cav and I kill almost all of them with my men. I start shooting his inf with my achers line and attack his hamamoto from all sides with my yari inf.
His Daimyo soon gets killed and I shoot many of his inf. The rest of his inf routs right away when I move in my inf line. I block the way to the border with my cav archers, shoot them with my sam archers, stop them in the woods with my inf, and attack from behind with my yari cav. In kill about all of them. Only 13 of them survive.
I win: Killed 300, lost 80. One of my units gained +1 honour.
*********************************************
After this battle, I have a legendary swordsman. I can and will soon build a sword dojo. Then I finally have some proper shock troops.
I decide to Burn down everything in Kozuke, because I already have Aki, Kai and Shinano and can use some money. I have 1523 Koku after doing this, so I can improve Kai and train more men again.
In battle I killed Uesugi Tomooki. Uesugi Tomodasa took over, the clan remains alive. After the battle I see the other Uesugi regions, which only have weak armies. Only Musashi is a strong region, so when I and Hojo defeat that army, it's over for the Uesugi clan, since I destroyed his training ability.
With the new Koku, I build a Bhuddist temple. I train 60 yari cav in Kai, and train 60 yari sam in Aki, which will defend Aki during the attack on Iwami.
I retreat my troops in Kozuke to Shinano, out of fear for a big attack from Musashi. I cannot afford to loose Kai and there's no reason to stay in Kozuke. (I destroyed all buildings, there are only 13 soldiers trapped and I will reconquer it soon anyway).
Winter 1542
1796 Koku :) Had a good season.
--------------------------------
In order to be able to attack Buzen soon I have to wipe out the rebels of Iwami first.
*************Attack on Iwami****************
In case I want to attack the Shimazu soon, I should not loose this battle and especially not loose much men.
For some reason, 60 yari sams stayed behind in Aki, and I attacked with 360 in stead of 300. The enemy had 300 men, I attacked in good weather. My army:
120 yari sam h1 a *** gen
120 ashigaru h1
120 sam archers h1
I put my army in a skirmish formation, my archers in the front, my yari sams behind that and my ashi's to the sides in order to let them attack him in the flank when the melee starts. After a walk, I move to the side a bit and start firing at his yari sams. He does not move and I shot quite some of his men.
After he had a few dozens of men, he charges in. I move in my yari sams and stop him before he hits my archers. I flank with the ashi's and shoot his gen with my archers, because he had stayed behind. His yari sams quickly rout but I don't kill many either. I charge at his gen unit with all my melee men and keep firing. His gen dies in battle surprisingly fast and his last units rout. I kill only few when chasing with my ashi's, but the victory is there.
I win, 137 kills, 65 losses. Only one of my units get honour +1.
**********************************************
The western part of my territory is now safe again. I killed the high-rank general of the R&R and defeated a part of his army. He shall not attack me soon and I will concentrate on the Shimazu again. I move my troops back to Nagato and will attack him next turn.
Ha! The Uesugi attack Takeda Shingen in Kai from Musashi. This is the most important battle in the campaign so far, because I cannot afford to loose Kai. If I win and destroy his army, Uesugi's won't have much left and his power will be broken. He has no region to train troops and if I beat him he'll have no army either. In case I do beat him very hard, I think I'll go for Musashi soon too.
**************Defence of Kai**********************
The Uesugi bring more troops then I have for the defence. It's 780 against 845, my ******-gen vs. his **-gen. He attacks with good weather, which is good, because I have a lot of archers.
I form three groups, one archer line, one inf line and my two units of cav archers. I put my army to the south-east of Kai, where there is a quite big hill. He needs to climb a mountain and walk a lot so he'll be tired when he attacks. I set my archer line at the rin of the hill, with the inf line little behind. My cav archers are more southwards, where I shall try to shoot some shock troops using hit-and-run tactiks.
When I see his army appearing at the top of the mountain he climbed, still out of shooting range of my main archer line, I move in my 120 cav archers and start shooting his inf. He sends all his melee inf after my cav archers and I shoot many of them with hit-and-run, while slowly moving towards my inf archers. I shoot 2 units of WM and one unit of ashigaru before my achers start firing. His archers are at much lower ground and I shoot much of them. After some time, I press forward with my inf line and start firing at his melee inf. He routs even before I charge in and only my cav archers can kill some men while chasing. It is a long road and the fast cav kill quite much, under which his gen.
I win, 639 kills, 109 losses. Four of my units gain +1 honour.
*********************************************
Yes! I won with many kills! The Uesugi clan is now quite weak and will soon be wiped out. I gained much honour and last not many men, so it's not bad for me either.
Meanwhile, the R&R conquer Kozuke with a small army. I am happy with that, because they aren't very dangerous and the Uesugi don't get it back anymore.
I start building a great castle in shinano, so I can build a cav dojo there afterwards. I need a archer or spear dojo too, but that'll come later.
I train 60 yari sams in Kai, they will probably be in the attack on Musashi.
I train a great castle in Aki too, so I can start building some strong dojo's there too.
I train 60 archers in Aki, to defend me regions from the R&R while attacking Buzen.
Spring 1542
296 Koku (!) :(
---------------
Uesugi reconquered Kozuke, but that's not a problem, because it has no dojo's at all. It only makes his army in Musashi even smaller.
I train 60 more yari sam in Aki. I will attack Buzen next turn. The R&R won't prevent me from it this time.
Hi readers,
That's it for now. Another update will come friday.
It were two exciting years to play. I hope you enjoy reading.
Summer 1543
96 Koku :(
-------------
My invasion from Nagato into Buzen is there. I attack with an army of 344 men, with a ***-gen. It's not a very important battle in the campaign, but Buzen will provide me of more Koku each year.
I only hope R&R don't attack me again this time.
The Oda clan's army has become very strong again in Owari, so I send men into Mikawa from Shinano.
I now have quite big and strong armies in Mikawa and Kai. Shinano and Izu are weak but luckily also not very important.
Autumn 1542
96 Koku :(
-------------
Shimazu gives up the battle in Buzen, so I another region belongs to the Takeda Clan. I destroy the border watchtowers and gain 100 Koku, I now have 196 Koku. I keep the +20% fields there are in Buzen, I hoped for them, Buzen will give me quite a bit Koku every year now.
I train 60 ashigarus in Aki, they'll go to Buzen too, because the Shimazu have a rather large army in Chikuezen and I will probably attack Buzen next turn. I hope I can kill many of his men when he does that, and I hope to keep Buzen.
I get more Koku next turn luckily, I need more sam. in the Eastern part of the Takeda lands.
My armies in the east:
Mikawa = 551 ****
Kai = 540 ******
Shinano = 296 - *
Izu = 120 *
Winter 1543
1476 Koku :) I had a good season, yes!
--------------------------------------
My big castle in Aki is ready. I don't think I soon have the money for more buildings there, but I will eventually.
My big castle in Shinano is ready. I think I'll start building there next season, if I have a reasonable amount of Koku by then.
My Buddist temple in Kai is ready! I can now train the powerfull Warrior Monks.
I train my first unit of 60 WM in Kai.
I start building a sword dojo in Kai. I already have WM but No-Dachi are cheaper and not much weaker.
An Oda emissary is in Kai. I think he might try to make peace between the Oda Clan and the Takeda Clan again. I would say yes at the moment. I'm busy with Shimazu in the West and with Uesugi in the east.
I am being quite defensive at the moment, especially because I don't have very big armies and don't know where to attack now yet. Defending might weaken other clans and give me a chance for further expansion.
Spring 1543
476 Koku (!)
------------
The Shimazu don't seem to be attacking me in Buzen. I guess the Imagawa Clan has a quite large army in it's last region, Hizen. So Shimazu is scared to be attacked in the back. Well, I don't want to be attacked by Imagawa too, so I think I'll go for Izumo and Bingo when I want to expand in the west again.
I have now 5 regions in the west:
Buzen = 464 ***
Iwami = 240 ***
Aki = 120 ***
I don't have armies in Nagato and Suo anymore, and loyalty is good. Aki is the most important region in the West, because it has training abilities.
I train 60 sam archers in Kai. My army is growing again.
I train 60 more yari ashigaru's in Aki, so my armies there are also becoming rather big.
That's it for today.
I've had more exciting years, but still. STW is always fun.
More coming up next week.
Enjoy ~
This is an exciting campaign! ~D Thanks for telling the campaign story. I have to find my STW and reinstall it!!! :charge:
~:) Good to hear this got you intrested again. Enjoy playing! ~;)
People, I have recently become member of the 47Ronin and will also be working on the website project. I think I won't have time often for reporting because I also want to stay active in STW MP.
I will try to go on, though.
In two projects atm and don't have any time for my campaign sadly.
maybe at the end of the summer I will continue. the savegame is still there. ~:)
