Unfortunately, since it's been so long since I was last in active service they're going to make me repeat basic infantry training all over again.
Well evil_maniac, I am not sure if people from Mars are allowed to join.Quote:

The Bundeswehr was not like I expected it. Far less drill. The ugliest thing there is that you wait most of the time. Then you have to hurry without a cause. One example: We had an alarm at 23:30. We had to dress and gather in the yard in about 30 seconds. There we waited for an hour. Then we packed our bags and took the weapons within 10 minutes just to wait again. Then we were brought to a small forrest. We were told to lay on the groung and protect that forrest. It was 4:30 now and January. After two hours protecting the trees (no enemy) the training was over. I surely learned a lot.
Luftwaffe seams to be much better than Heer. Much more relaxed and with some elite feeling. Just avoid to join a guarding unit. This job is boaring and there are no careers.
Zharakov.Do you guys already have those T-95´s in use or are you just testing them?(Just a curious Finn asking). ~;)

Six Years and a few months. I debated going officer, since I have a TS-SCI clearance and a four year degree, but I have my reasons for not gutting out the 13+ years.
It's been fun, but I think it is time to move on. I'll probably go into the Police or Fire Service. I'll probably take a commission in the Army Reserves or National Guard, since that can't be done in the Marine Corps. You have to do six years active as an officer to go into the reserves. By that time I'll have 13 years in and why not do another seven? So screw it.
Like I said, It's been fun. The officers have their place, but they aren't "superior" human beings like they all make themselves out to be. It used to be a big deal when education was rare. Now everybody and their mother has a college education, so who the hell are these stuck ups trying to kid? But then, most officers at least have a brain. I know plenty of enlisted who can't poop without being told where and how much. These guys are a big part of the reason that it's time for me to move on.
The Selection Board for Staff Sergeant is over on Sept 16. If I get picked up early, then maybe I'll reconsider going commissioned, seeing that the Corps actually values the massive amount of extra effort that I have put in. I'll let you all know. Because I know you all care so much. ~:handball: ~ ~D
the old stuck up officer bit. Part of the problem you face is how the Marine Corps Officer is trained - or at least that is my experience. My Field Artillery Officer Basic Course had Marine Corps LT's in it. These Marine officers had to go to the Army School and do better then the rest of us or they faced career problems. It pissed a few of them off when I was doing better then them in gunnery - and I did not put the effort into it that they had to. 5 years of experience in gunnery in the National Guard as a 13E and an non-branch qualified officer - however my 13E chief in the Guard forced me to learn gunnery the old fashion way and it gave me an edge so I hardly needed to apply any effort in gunnery at the basic cource. Not a single Marine Corps LT would let me help them with the subject - where many of my Army peers would. [/quote]Quote:

Zharakov. Thanks for the info. (Always good to know what our Eastern neighbour is up to.) ~;)
Thanks. But with the auto 9 months at 18 years old, are you automatically assigned to say, Luftwaffe, or do you have a choice?Quote:

On the other hand you have to be aware that you might find yourself in combat one day. And that you will have to moove from town to town.
Good luck!
Does the Boy Scouts count as Military? ~D
If not, no I haven't.

My Grandfathers were in WWII.
One was a tail end charlie in a Lancaster Bomber and was in from 39 to 45. He couldn't join the Army on account of his feet, but the RAF let him fly.
Out of the 10 Grandchildren, 10 Great-Grandchildren and the 1 Great-Great Grandchild I was the one that inherited his medals on his death. Rather proud of the old guy.
Boy did he know how to needle someone with words... I think I got some of my sarcastic streak from him. ~

I almost forgot you, good luck with the training.
I mean for the consription time. :dizzy2: And I want to command the suckers. Some of my friends have said I have the recklessness and ruthlessness of a Swabian, I can understand the people like a Bavarian (farmers, you know, except in places like Munich or Nurnberg (no accent keys on this computer, sorry)), and I have the cold precision and ruthlessness of a Prussian. ~ But I don't know what I should really do. Maybe you can PM me?Quote:
