Well we sure got schooled at the weekend!

Heaviest loss ever in the Championship for England.

Great game to watch and can only imagine what the atmosphere inside Croke was like. Ireland were simply better than England in all parts of the game. Virtually all the tackles resulted in an English player going backwards after being hit by at least 2 Irishmen. (Why didn't they play this way against the French last time out!?!)

I felt some of the criticism of Farrell was a bit unfair, after all the English backs had nothing to work with. That said we could do with someone with a bit of pace in the centres, oh and that Strettle (sp?) bloke sure seems quick.

Congrats Italy on the first away win, but sorry Scotland what game were you lot playing in the opening 7 minutes?

Commiserations to the Scots - you didn't deserve to lose. That must have been one hell of a party two weeks ago, because we clearly had to send on a bunch of impersonators.

Congratulations to the English for a timely victory. I fancy France were at the same party as our lot, because they looked as jaded and bored as Ireland yesterday.

We drastically need to improve on our attacking play, they were all invisible yesterday. England could very well be a strong team in the making, I wonder how they'll perform in the World Cup. As it is, there's a different England every time I see them play. That second try was great, a fantastic run followed by a great single-lefthand catch of a deflected ball. Good stuff.

On the upside, next week promises to be very exciting. Three teams still in it, though realistically it's between Ireland and France. France - Scotland and Italy - Ireland should both be fun. I do think Italy are stronger than Scotland this year. I can not bare the prospect of those maca..er, Italians winning three times in a row, so here's hoping for a tight Irish win while we thoroughly thrash the Scots.

Congratulations on that Triple Crown btw- it will be a well-deserved consolation price for Ireland. :knight:

Well, who'd have thought it, really didn't expect to beat the French. God knows what they were playing at, they appeared to have forgotten the good bits of French rugby, the attacking.

English forwards were good (quite some change from Croke Park) but the backs didn't look that threatening for most of the game and made too many mistakes. At least they were trying to play and luckily the French forgot to tackle for at least one of the tries, still will take the win and sets up a good final weekend, with 3 teams in contention (well 4 if you include the unlikely scenario of Italy, Scotland and Wales all winning :beam: )

Should be good with Ireland and France both trying to rack up the points to win the championship in the final game. I don't think England are in with much of a shout and suspect the Welsh will be out with points to prove and probably 50/50 for who wins that game.

(Oh and sucks about the refs decision in Rome, but it was kinda funny :laugh4: )

Well done to the English yesterday! It was very strange to see the Irish pub-goers cheering FOR England for once!

If Ireland beat Italy by 5 points more than France beat Scotland* then Ireland win. Hooray.

I hate when things get mathematical.

*No offence to Scotland, but you'll lose. Try not to lose that badly though.

blimey everyones a comedian today .

Anyhow I will be watching the games in a welsh pub , as far as I know there will only be 3 other Irish there .
Going to be one hell of an afternoon , all three matches could count for deciding the eventual winner , just a pity that the Paddys day club finals clash with the rugby and I doubt they will be showing them over there .

Still just think , St.Patricks day without the Guinness :sweatdrop: ...well apart from the early house and then again at the airport~:cheers:

Yep you can find guinness nearly anywhere , you can even find good guinness, but the pub I will be in does not keep good guinness.

(Let's assume the English don't score 60 points more than Wales in Cardiff, otherwise I'll look silly).

I am gagging with disappointment, but the truth is, the best team won. Ireland are a long way from being the team they could be. Most specifically, two incredibly stupid 80th minute decisions and too much reliance on lucky wins.

We didn't deserve to win against Wales, we screwed up royally against France by going to sleep, certainly didn't deserve to beat Scotland and had the Italians dead to rights (even without being able to win a set piece, like ever) and instead of sending a 31 point margin to the Stade de France, went to sleep again to let the Italians get a try back.

Conversely, apart from a tribute team that impersonated them at Twickenham, France played some lovely rugby whilst killing off games - or as against Ireland and Scotland, refused to fall over hwne times got tough.

Bodes well for the World Cup in France, where I hope you do well until the All-Blacks destroy you. Ireland on the other hand, need to learn to play as if they are facing England every match.

Well done France, Champions of Europe once again. :bow:

This was an exciting day! Scotland showed up very strong today. They had three good tries, including a devastating one five minutes before the final whistle. Just when we had at last, finally, got that twenty-five point lead...~:mecry:

It was tense. Could it have had a more dramatic end? A controversial stoppage time French try scored by a guy named Elvis and an Irish video referee who had to decide on Saint Patricks day if he would allow it or not. :beam:

And I don't think Ireland where that bad. With the benefit of hindsight, it's easy to say they should've clung on to their 31-point lead. However, all through the match the Irish attacks were clinically ripping Italy apart. Why should Ireland ever have satisfied themselves with their lead? They had every reason to try for more. If Italy hadn't scored that last try nobody would've complained about their tactics.

Last minute tries have decided this Six Nations. Like in the game at Croke, they were all the difference between France and Ireland.

England never had more than a long shot at the title today. I didn't expect them to have any realistic chance to win by 57 points, but I was quite happy to see the Welsh being all over them in the first half. That James Hook guy was lethal, what a talent. ~:eek:

I didnt get tickets but me and my mate blagged our way in to Cardiff student union and watched it on the 20ft screen.

£3 a round,a decent view, drunknen student girls AND we beat the English.

Who could ask for more ? (well, winning a few more matches wouldve been nice)

On a side note, the English fans REALLY were only singing when they scored and booed when out anthem came on... something not right about that.

But then EVERYONE booed when the French got that dodgy try :wall:
