Great idea, Kukri.
Says the pick deadline has already passed...
I assume it means for this week- wouldn't be a good idea to be letting folks pick games for sunday on the following monday, right?
Right fellas. Gotta wait till MNF is done. Sorry.
-edit-
I didn't think anyone would notice this thread 'til tomorrow. :shame:

Well the Vikings edged out the Saints tonight. Yay, I guess?
I mean, of course I'm happy for them....but this victory also went a long way towards increasing Childress' job security. I begin to fear he may never leave.
That Pool Host place is open now, fellas. Sorry for jumping the gun before. You can make and/or change your picks for week 6 right up until the first kick-off on Sunday, the 12th. After kick-off, everybody's picks become visible on the "All Picks" page, which serves also to update the game scores during the course of the weekend. They update about every 20 minutes or so, after kick-off.
In my other pool, I ended up in a 6-way tie, having picked 9 of 14 games correctly. A co-worker won by predicting 53 points for MNF (total score was 73), where I'd gone low-ball, and predicted 27.
Good Luck.
PoolHost information updated into OP for your convenience.
A gentle reminder: folks who wanna get in on the PoolHost action should make their picks before first kick-off tomorrow, Sunday (1300 Eastern, 1000 Cal-time). After that, I can add picks in manually.
See ya game-day!!
p.s. I'm ditching Detroit this week vs Minn. Loyalty is one thing, but business is business. :)
I usually prefer football, but considering the Eagles' stinky play of late and the Phillies' run, I'm hooked on the de jure national pastime as opposed to the de facto one. Thus, consider this a ready-made excuse should my picks suck this week. :laugh4:
You might have come across this before; it is college football he's talkin about, but boy howdy! It has k-man's personal thumbs up as the greatest on air football rant/meltdown in human history. 15 minutes of your time + check it out, you won't regret it!

Aaaaaand we're "live". Nice diversity of picks. We have consensus only on Redskins beating St. Louis, and Minnesota tromping Detroit. Good Luck!
This Miami Houston game needs to turn now! I also need to stop picking Cinci. Every week I think they will turn it around and every week they fail me.
Ughhhhhhh Schuab has two picks.
Wow Kukri. What an exciting game we've had thus far, eh? ~
Go harvard boy go!
WOW, what a finish in the Bears/Falcons game. :shocked2:
TEXANS WIN
This is crazy.
Oh man! That's three games decided on last second scores. All against the teams I picked. Great football!
:wall:
Indeed. No offense, but who thought we'd need a last-minute field goal to beat the *Lions* (and at home, no less)??! Yet more evidence (as if any were needed) that Childress doesn't know how to run an offense any more than I know how to build a cold fusion engine.
Also, how sad is it that the Vikings could end up in a 3-way tie for 1st place in the NFC North with Chicago and Green Bay....and that we'd all be at only .500??
Yeah, that was amazing! I can't believe the lowly (and despised) Rams defeated the Redskins, though. Utter rubbish. :furious3:
The Rams-Redskins doesn't really matter since we all picked the Skins but I am happy to see them lose.
HOW BOUT 'DEM CARDINALS?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I love it whenever they ice the kicker and it backfires.
That game was horrible...
Pool- looks like me and Martok are tied atm- I win if Cleveland can beat the Giants on Monday Night...:sweatdrop:
I once knew what it was like to be near the top, alas I am now near the bottom. :bigcry:
There has been some good football today! :sweatdrop:
Ugh, if I picked the Chargers instead of being a homer, I'd be in first. What was I thinking?
This is ending badly for me:furious3:
I must say: you guys are pretty good pickers; picking 9 or 10 out of 13 would make you money in Vegas (or in my other, co-workers pool).
Did anyone actually see the Detroit game? It wasn't broadcast here. Were thay any good, at all - or just dumb luck? I admit my heart sank as I watched the score stay at, what?, 10-3 for what seemed forever.
As I said before, the Cowboys just aren't disciplined enough to win it this year. Romo holds on to the ball too long, and then not at all when he gets hit (which was a lot). That was a sad display of football on both sides, until the 4th quarter when the teams decided to actually play.
I think, for the good of the country, the networks will not be showing any Detroit football until the turkey day game. With the current economic crisis, we don't need to be subjected to that. :no:Quote:

My hat is of to Matork and Makaikahaan good picks those two and if Clevland pulls it out tonight Mak will be the winner out right and will go 11-2, damn.
Heh. You beat to it. ~D
Holy crap! I didn't realize I'd done that well. ~
There were a few games where I knew I was sticking my neck out, such as going with Jacksonville over Denver. Of course, I also had picks like Miami over Houston that bit me in the keister. :laugh4:
I think you would have been proud, Kukri. Despite some bumbling around (and of course we were guilty of this as well), the Lions actually played a pretty spirited game throughout the afternoon, especially on the defensive side. By all rights, we should've lost this one too -- it was only via another set of last-minute heroics that we were able to pull a victory out of our nether-regions.
Your offense -- like our own -- still definitely needs some work. But the Detroit defense played hard yesterday, and showed that they can shut down teams when they want to.
Bad day for Dallas. Romo and the punter are out for an extended period of time.
GO CLEVELAND GO!
:cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader:
I give up:wall:
Look at it this way, Strike. You're new QB is still better than either of the dunces currently vying for the spot in Minnesota.(I'm willing to bet Martok wouldn't disagree:sweatdrop:)
Another interception, TD, and a two point conversion.
:bounce:
For those wondering, I shall divulge my great secret:

Congrats khaan!
Just noticed khaan picked the right score as well. Amazing.
11-3 good show sir!
Good show.
I guess none of us jumped on the Haslett bandwagon huh?
Most excellent pickin', makaikhaan! What a rebel you were going against the 12-point favorite Giants!
Here's your prize: TWO HUNDRED FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS (Zimbabwaean)

and a "Have Lunch on Kukri" $5 gift certificate to Burger King*.
Congratulations!

Jones just keeps betting on the bad eggs, he was bound to have to eat one sooner or later. The funny part is, IMHO anyway, Adam Jones has never been any good in coverage. But what do I know? :dizzy2:
:egypt:
This season is going to kill me
Early reminder: it doesn't matter so much this week, as the first kickoff isn't until Sunday. But later in the season, we have some Thursday games beginning the week. It might be a good habit to always look/consider your picks on Wednesdays for the PoolHost Pool.
Just saying.
p.s. We have 2 new players: Crazed Rabbit & "ScrapIron". Welcome! and Good Luck!
Scrap1ron = Hosa ~:wave:
I think the fact that I'll never pick the ravens, browns, or steelers as winners is going to hurt my standings...
I took some gambles this week. CMON OCHO CINCO!:smash:
Yes!!!
Can't you just see him catching a long pass from one of the best quarterbacks in the league, carson pal...err...ryan fitzpatrick?? :embarassed:
But seriously, I think the bengals can win as long as the NEVER give the ball to chris "14 yards in 11 rushes but at least I didn't fumble" perry. Good lord. I wanted to stab someone when they gave him the ball on the first two downs of OT vs the giants. Wow, 3 and out, who could have predicted that? Harvard boy ran for 4 times as many yards per carry as he did
Calling Crazed Rabbit: tick-tock, my friend. Less than 3 hours to kickoff. Now is a good time to make your picks for this week.
Interesting, this week, as last, we all agree on 2 games (Houston over Detroit, and Tampa beating Seattle). Other than that, a nice mix, fellas.
Wow, looks like the Rams made the right move firing Linehan and replacing him with Haslet. They're dominating Dallas right now.
Wow...
Watching the vikes play is brutal. Giving up this many points to the Bears?
That was the most disgusting performance I've seen since the playoff game against the Jets.
Crazed rabbit with the lead :laugh4:
Raiders win ugly, but at least they finally closed one out!
Now to get eight more... in a row while I'm asking for crazy luck.
:egypt:
LOL. Whuddathunk giving him the default "all homies" would be a successful strategy? So, it goes to MNF points... 28 or less = CrazedRabbit win; 30 or more = HosakawaTito win. If total MNF score = 29 (equally 14 points away from their predictions, tho' CR's was assigned randomly), it goes to time of submission, = HosakawaTito win.
What a surprise that Dallas game, eh?
Im not abandoning anyone. I will pick the Cowboys no matter what!
Indeed. Given the special team's performance (or lack thereof) the last few weeks, I suspect Ferraro may not have a job for very much longer. Even I can't blame Childress for yesterday's comedy of errors.
As for my picks this week, the only one I really regret was going with the Chiefs over the Titans. I wouldn't have changed any of my other games, even considering the ones I lost -- I mean seriously, who thought the Cowboys and Jets would lose to such lowly opponents (sorry Decker!), despite their problems? :inquisitive:
:laugh4: I know right! Though if Seabass made his earlier kick we wouldn't have had to suffer overtime :wall:
^^:laugh4::laugh4::laugh4::laugh4: Good gawd :whip: You picked the chiefs to win! :smash:
*Goes to sharpen hatchet, gets rope, and plyers*
8-5 not bad. The freaking cowgirls are killing. Sometimes its hard:clown:
Very, very few people are cut out to be coach and GM at the same time at the professional level and for everyone else it's career suicide. Nolan wrote his own check and now it's about to be cashed.
:egypt:
Already cashed. Nolan's gone. :flybye:
