NIGHT THREE
Reenk Roink sat at his desk and pondered a great many things. The fate of his Order had suffered a blow, but he was confident that the Council was coping admirably well under pressure of the remaining hidden Magus Mafioso. A cough startled him and he grabbed his Cobalt blue staff to face the presence in his room.
"Well well, Ulric Stormcloud - a famous face indeed! Careless of such a high-ranking mage to let himself pass the night unprotected. I have waited too long to let this pass as quickly as it must... but there is really no patient way to expel the brains of such a weakling from his skull."
The Mage ran his fingers along the runes of the scroll before him as Ulric raced across the expansive suite, staff raised in muscular arms above his head.. but too late!
As the dark mage cried out:
"Cerebelus ...EXPLODUM!"
Reenks' Icy staff swung through the air, but missed its' mark - clattering to the floor as his body pitched forward, the grey matter violently spraying from his ears and nose with a ghastly popping-hissing sound.
The Magus Mafioso nodded in satisfaction at his kill and tip-toed across the pools of bloody gore and out into the silent corridor.
All was quiet and he chuckled to himself as he returned to his room; at the ease with which he had dispatched another obstacle from his path. More would die and soon his brethren would be freed.

The following morning Boudica informed the remaining Magi of 'Reenk's' death before settling back with the weekend racing oracles and prepared to decide which dragon to bet on today.
"We had a good result yesterday, but that's no reason for this Council to become complacent" Boudica barked at the Magi while consulting the football fixtures
"Last night was just sloppy play! We can't allow ourselves to take our eyes off the prize - the prize being one dead Mafia - or you'll find me as sick as a parrot!
...Now lets nail us a mafioso! VOTE NOW!"

Sigurd?? Didn't he place the deciding vote for one of the scum? If he was Greyblades' partner he could have easily voted for you, Yoyoma or Lord Winter. Instead he would kill his partner. That doesn't make much sense.Quote:

His comment at the end seems odd in light of that sentence. Maybe I missed something, but from that sentence alone, the comment doesn't seem to fit.
We were in contact and we knew we were both innocent, then he got converted (night 1). His voting was under the influence of the mafia, but he didnt know who they were.
Just saying, we didnt get one.

So, you are trying to make us believe that Greyblades was converted on night 1 to the mafiosi cause and then sending you a pm saying: "I am not really a mafioso - I'll continue as a townie in your little brotherhood. Just don't lynch me". And then you try to make us believe you bought it?
I am sure if that pm is genuine that greyblades were a) playing you (I don't believe it) or b) you are in on it and is converted too or is the original culprit.
I don't believe for a second that the mafiosi did not take greyblades into their midst after a successful conversion.
I therefore conclude that pevergreen is Mafia too.

We lynch greyblades on day 3 and Reenk is killed night 4 by the original mafioso.
What did greyblades do on night 3? Kill or being idle?

Sigurd, I think you have one night too many there. The title of the latest writeup is "Night Three". Apart from that, you may have the gist of it but I'm still not confused about how this whole conversion thing worked. It seemed straightforward enough until pevergreen posted the alleged Greyblades PM.

Boudica conjured a small yellow face and directed it to bang its head repeatedly against the walls of the Tower of Sorcery's Conference Hall & Cocktail Lounge. :wall:
Day four had come to a close. (write-up to follow)
DAY FOUR
Boudica allowed the small yellow-faced familiar to bash it's head against the wall until - resembling a squashed grapefruit - it slid to the floor and disappeared back into the magical ether.
Confusion had reigned throughout the day. Various Wizards had hurled baseless and inaccurate opinions around all morning and a brief and unsanctioned haunting around lunchtime had appeared to unnerve the Magi who remained so much; that they prefered to sit and stair coldly at one another during the afternoon - instead of discussing things and voting.
Boudica swore quietly to herself and vowed not to think in such long sentences any more. She creaked to her feet and addressed the Council:
"The Mage known as 'pevergreen'! - Front and Centre!"
pevergreen shook his head with disgust at his fellow Magi and approached the Magus Supremo.
"Why do you shake your head pevergreen?"
"I shake it for I am disgusted, ma'am"
"Disgusted?, how so?"
"This Council is in turmoil and yet its' members merely loll about eating individual packs of cereal and watching cartoons"
"You may have a point my dear sir, but none-the-less, it appears that those Council members who have bothered to vote, have, by the slimmest of margins, condemned you to the VOID - do you protest"
"Not only do I protest!" exclaimed the exasperated mage "But I shall save you the trouble of opening all the applications of Office and do your job myself!"
And with that, the noble Mage clicked his thumb against his finger and his body was engulfed in a huge fireball.
The Council of the Magi watched as he burned - all simultaneously realising that there was no way they would be able to find any marshmallows in the larder and have time to get back before the fiercely raging fires licking pevergreens body had died down.
Soon nothing more remained of the Mage formerly known as 'pevergreen', but a tiny pile of ash.
"Somebody sweep that up. Ok - you lot - today was abysmal and most of you deserve to die. Let's see how many of you last through the night. If any of you make it back tomorrow you better have something to say for yourselves"

I notice that all those not voting in this round did not in the last round either. What, Did the dragon get your tongues or something?
And why did not pevergreen try to save himself by a vote on for example me or Lord winter. Questions that might not be answered.
I am awaiting the visit of the Mafioso tonight and if my dragon defence spell does not work in my favour, we need to get a few things in the open. The silence of our council members suggest we sit on very little info. I suggest we spill our info and see if we can locate the culprit.
Thanks to greyblades and a few others, I suspect there are 4 brotherhoods in this council. I shall not ,as it is custom not to, mention specifics. But lets say there are 4 magi brotherhood here.
As I have the ability, amongst other abilities, to listen to the whispers caught in this hall, found out about a few of these brotherhoods.
Greyblades and pevergreen belonged to on particular brotherhood which shall remain nameless.
A Very Super Market, Captain Blackadder and Yoyoma belongs to a group that shall remain namless.
Reenk and 'khaan belonged to a brotherhood which shall remain nameless.
That leaves Quintus, Lord Winter, Flax, Thermal Mercury and myself unaccounted for.
I asked if Psychonaut had any friends... I meant it in a brotherhood kind of way.
Three brotherhoods. One with three members and 2 with two. One brotherhood is missing. I suspect they all have three members.
Who can all of you vouch for ? Who do you know is innocent?
Let's make a list before the night ends.
13 magi total out of which 12 magi are a member of a brotherhood. Let's first check the possibility that the 13th brotherhoodless magi is the Mafioso.
Night Four is ended - Write-up to follow...
The fifth day dawns on the Council and slowly the Magi reconvene in the Conference Hall and Cocktail Lounge to seek once more for the Magus Mafioso they know to be among them.
Boudica polishes off a plate of croissant and speaks in sombre tones to the assembled:
"Fellow Magi - a terrible deed was done last night and another of our brethren has been destroyed!"
The Magi scan the room and soon realise that the Mage known as 'Yoyoma1910' is not present!
"Yoyoma1910 was found in his room by my minions, beaten to a pulp - every last bone in his body smashed to powder"
Boudica hangs her head in dismay.
"We must root out the evil one from our ranks! Brethren! Tarry no longer! Vote now for who you think we should exile unto the VOID and let us put an end to these infernal deeds!"

Vote Sigurd I was told by yoyoma that he was going to investigate Sigurd and now he is dead. This looks very suspicious to me. I may change if a better lynch comes around or if sig explains this.

From what I see, the mafia could easily be hiding in our midst. Perhaps they have all been infiltrated by Sigurd or some other, and we all know that many mafia games see scum seek sanctuary in a mason group, then kill everyone in it.
Did Yoyoma tell Sigurd that he was going to investigate him last night? If not then how did Sigurd know he was going to be investigated by Yoyoma? I don't think Sigurd killed Yoyoma, if anyone killed Yoyoma, it could well be you. :stare:Quote:

The fifth day of the Council brought at least some small discussion between the remaining Magi. But a sickness appeared to have fallen on the Council itself and several of it's members said nothing, or simply shivered and sweated as if with a chill.
Finally Boudica called the session to a close for the day and the screetching chalkboard showed quite clearly that the Mage known as Lord Winter was up for exile. When summoned to the Magus Supremo to take his punishment, Lord Winter refused to budge - although 'refusal' would indicate some kind of activity - and from Lord Winter there was none.
The Mage seated next to him gave Lord Winter a shake and lo and behold! - The Mage's robes collapsed into a heap!
Lord Winter was not there.
There was some general commotion - several of the Magi assuming foul play - perhaps one last trick of the Magus Mafioso - but Boudica quickly drew her minions to her and consulted with them.
A study of the minutes revealed that Lord Winter had not spoken since the first day of the Council. None of the Magi could swear even that they had seen him leave his chair. A thorough search of Lord Winter's room was conducted and a note found which was returned to Boudica. The old crone affixed her eyeglasses to the ridge of her sabre-like nose and read thusly:
"Dear all,
I have decided that the life of a Mage is not for me and I am returning to my village in the Southern jungles to follow my true shamanic path. If someone could settle my room service bill, I'd be most grateful.

Boudica stared at the tally and appeared lost in thought for a moment before she spoke once more.
"I shall consult the Rhandome! - If it remain black then I shall use my power for today to exile the Mage known as Sigurd to the VOID! - If it become white, then Sigurd shall be spared!"
The Rhandome was bought out once more from the cupboard under the wide spiral stairs and placed before the wizzened - and clearly insane - old Sorceress. She passed her hand over its reflective surface and sure enough the globe was lit with a pale and milky light.
The Mage known as Sigurd found he had been holding his breath, and he breathed a deep sigh of relief.
Boudica shuffled from the Hall and headed for the gym... or at least the jacuzzi, as the sun set on the Tower of Sorcery.

can I just say this game is so interesting in my eyes, it's such a shame so many players have neglected it, I'll just tell Boudica that I've thoroughly enjoyed this game, it would have been even better if half of the people that signed up actually bothered to play....
This game is actually interesting, but I think that it has come into misfortune with the other two (very big) large games going on, as well as the 10th anniversary game, where I am far too scared to reveal myself in front of those big, scary, players.
Anyways, I'm dead in both of the large games, but have gotten hoplessly lost in this one. For now.
Greetings dear council member,
I had the misfortune of being affected by a heinous spell yesterday, one which apparently made me not able to vote and put me in a state of "witless".
Now I have full set of utensils and can contribute more fully. The night is upon us and I must say, Thermal Mercury is not looking to good right now. He clearly revealed that he was the one killing Yoyoma last night.
Now, should he not be punished for this insolence?
It has come to my knowledge that Thermal might be the senior elder in his order, which happen to coincide with his ability to find out which magi belongs to which order. Remember his Blackadder + AVSM = Yoyoma. An order which was going to investigate me last night, but unfortunately wasn't able to.
But then he goes on to kill Yoyoma, and I can't see that we have that ability in our order. Any one else that have this and can therefore clear Thermal? This is why I believe he either is the Mafioso or have been converted like Greyblades. The Mafioso might have been able to convert two, creating his own little order of Mafiosi within the council.
And lastly... who put that spell on me last night?
Reveal publicly or via PM.

NIGHT FIVE
Thermal Mercury sat at his writing desk and cursed as the third clay-stemmed pipe of the day, cracked between his clenched teeth and spilt it's smouldering contents into his lap.
Dusting the glowing coals of tobacco from his robe into the sink in the en-suite, the Mage swore a few times and returned to the bedroom to continue his work.
A sinister chuckle caused Thermal Mercury to turn sharply. Before him stood the dark figure of a Mage - a scroll unfurled before him.
With a furious anger, Thermal Mercury assumed the pose of The Vengeful Gosling and prepared to unleash a powerful - albeit unmagical - attack on the intruder, but as had been found by previous Council members, the dark figure was well-prepared and as Thermal Mercury flew toward him, was already speaking aloud the incantation which would bind his spell to it's target:
"Cerebellus ....EXPLODUM!" became the last words to enter Thermal Mercury's ears, before his brains swiftly existed his skull in the opposite direction. Thermal Mercury gave a squawk of pain and for a split second, witnessed the chunks of grey matter coating the walls of his luxury suite and then he knew no more.

"Outspoken he may have been!" Exclaimed Boudica, raising a mug of pitch black coffee in salutation to the fallen Mage "But a Magus Mafioso he was not!
We have work to do Gentle-Magi - I would suggest lynching the correct suspect today, or I fear we may be too late."

And.... Sigurd's theory goes *ploop.
Out of all of us, Sigurd has probably contributed the most theories and seemed to have genuinly tried to figure out was is going on. The rest of us have done rather poorly in that department and as it was said, many of us have not given a lot of attention to the happenings in this council. If we are to catch the Magi Mafiosi amongst us, we must work harder.
Looking back on the events of each nights.
Night 1: Conversion of Greblades?
Night 2: Sinsheikhaan is killed, QJC is "paralysed".
Night 3: Reenk Roink is killed.
Night 4: Yoyoma is killed. (Thermal_Mercury) Sigurd is "paralysed"
Night 5: Thermal_Mercury is killed.
I see a pattern here. If we remove the death of Sinsheikhaan and Yoyoma, we have kill/paralyse/kill/paralyse. Now granted, Greyblades could actually be the one who paralysed QJC, so that would break the sequence. It also could be a completely different person who does the "paralysing". Maybe I'm looking too much into it, but that sequence makes me believe the person who "paralyses" is the Magi Mafiosi, also responsible for the kills.
Going with that logic, this leaves Captain Blackadder, A Very Super Market and I as suspects in my mind. I am loath to vote for myself, because I'm pretty sure I'm innocent. (:clown:) So I will Vote: Captain Blackadder.

IC: Very well, dead one. First off, your creditentials as an investigator are somewhat flawed after admitting to have killed Yoyoma and what makes you think the Magi Mafiosi has not infiltrated one of the Orders anyway? From what we know, it seems to me they have been planning this for a long time.
As for my alleged scummy voting and my alleged lurking... I am pretty certain that if we look back through the whole council, of the people that are still alive, only Sigurd has probably spoken more than me. As for my voting, not only did I vote everytime I could, also explaining my vote, but I fail to see how voting for someone who has almost never spoken is "scummy". As for my vote on Captain Blackadder, I was fishing for a reaction.

Simply put, Thermal_Mercury killed Yoyoma, not the Magi Mafiosi, which renders your argument void. I wonder why you would say that, unless you are not paying attention to what is going on or you are trying to deflect your guilt. This is not an easy choice. I would normally think that the mafiosi would have more interest in a game than the rest of the cannon fodder does, and hence post more. If this is true I would think that The Flax is the culprit. Then we have the duo Blackadder and AVSM which despite not posting any theories of themselves are basically contributing every round. They clearly were in contact at the very beginning of the game despite denying it at a very late stage. Wasn't it either AVSM or Blackadder who stated: "I don't know if [the other player] is in my order or not, I haven't been contacted by him".
Come on, you must be blind for not seeing the establishment of orderly communication between the two of you. Hence I believe they were lying about it.

That was me I said that I cannot confirm AVSM because he has not contacted me and this is true. I was quickly contacted by Yoyoma after my first post but I was never contacted by AVSM at any point to say that he is a fellow member of my order. Once more at the Magus Supremo's bidding, The Rhandome was brought forth and The two Magi known as Captain Blackadder & TheFlax were asked to stand up. Both eyed Boudica nervously as she ran her hands over the large reflective dome. The image of a shiny silver coin appeared in the Rhandome's centre, spinning faster until it became a blur. Boudica clicked her fingers and the coin stopped - the picture of a dark snake eating it's own tail, resting face up.
Boudica turned to Blackadder. "Tails you lose."
The Magi opened his mouth to protest, but the Magus Supremo had already opened the Parchment of Word - and (after pausing briefly to install security updates) Boudica flung Captain Blackadder into the parchments' cone of light.
The was an eerie buzzing sound and a frenzy of black shapes.... Boudica's face fell as the gut-wrenching screams of Captain Blackadder were heard above the buzzing. The cries of the Magi Mafiosi mocked those of the Council that remained:
"MWAHAHAHAHAHA! YOU FEED US THIS SERVANT OF LIGHT AND MORE POWERFUL WE GROW! MORE! MORE! FEED US MORE OF THESE SWEETMEATS!"
Boudica slumped back into her directors chair - clammy and exhausted and gave the Rhandome a surly kick.
"I may have been a little melodramatic before, but if the Mafioso kills again we really ARE in trouble... I hope to see you all again tomorrow."
Crestfallen the Magus Supremo leaves the room.

Will this be the final writeup by boudica? She seemed to indicate that the Mafioso must fail to kill for us to have a chance.
But even if he succeed there will be 2 agianst 1 which would still make it a chance for the town, right? Because 2 against 2 would be a tie - and ties will ... hmm ... randomly kill a candidate. :thinking:

Boudica smiled grimly as the last of the Magi returned to the Council. All that had been left alive at the end of the previous day had returned, and the Magus Supremo felt her confidence returning. Surely today they might end the Mafiosi threat!.
Calling the Council to order, Boudica apologised for the extent of her lie-in and bid the Council begin their voting.

I believe that QJC has a role-blocking ability. My investigation of TheFlax saw him writhing on the ground even before I checked his alignment. Since Sigurd claims to have had this happen to him, he is ruled out, and since I don't have that role, it must be QJC
