Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
Apparently some of the .netters are worried that they have a virus which has been transmitted by hotseat game files. Here is the thread at TWC.
I'm not sure how scientific this is as there seems to be a fair bit of confusion about what exactly is going on but it might be best to wait for a resolution to the problem before loading any save game files from a .net hotseat player who is also in one of the 'infected' hotseat games.

Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
okay, well when I was on the .net site a few days ago my anti virus was acting up and telling me not to go on the thread for this game there because files there contained malware. I alerted the mods but they didn't do anything about it, just said I should ask the game host (honestly, I did not find that very reassuring)
Given this, I highly encourage you to check your system phonics (it was right before you played your turn,) same goes for triforceV and thanatos.
If you guys all seem fine I'll give it a go.
I scanned the save and Norton didn't think anything was wrong with it, but better safe than sorry.

Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
Yes I'm going to check into that when I get home.
Which anti-virus are you using NB? There is a suspicion that the problem is with false positives due to a faulty update from AVG. This wouldn't explain some of the anecdotal evidence of performance issues from some of the players over there but that may all be hysterical mis-information.
Luckily (for me) I played that turn on my old machine and have just yesterday installed everything fresh and new on my new one!

Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
I've got Norton 360 which has done me well for a while now, so no AVG here. I think we are probably okay but I think the more checks we do the better before we potentially pass anything on to more people.

totally. I'm using avast! on my old machine and Microsoft security something-or-other on my new one and I've had no alerts. avast scans all dl'd files so I'd be surprised if I got a virus in a save game without something coming up.

Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
I use Kaspersky, which is supposed to be one of the better ones and I've heard nothing. Their latest post over at the .net are leaning towards it being a problem with avg (some kind of free anti-virus by the sounds of it) and not an actual virus

Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
Yep. But I'm going to scan my old machine tonight anyway and post back here. You can treat all new saves from me as clean because they will come from my new machine which wasn't built when this problem happened.

Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
I scanned my machine and it's all clear.

You know Triforce, you really don't have to try so hard when your subbing for my enemies. I was kind of hoping the victories would just fall in my lap, but this is beginning to feel a bit more like work :P

Caliphate armies took Jerusalem, Nicosia and Kermanshah from the Turks.
Something went wrong with my screenshots - for some reason my tga folder became read-only and it won't allow me to unset it. So I don't have shots. They were all one-sided battles and I'm happy for the admin to go in and check if necessary. Or if you really want to see them I can try to replay and use fraps or something instead (which I don't currently have)

I'm afraid the Empire cannot accept the Turks offer of alliance unless they find a way to make peace with their Islamic brothers.
Forgot about the screenshots, but the only battle I fought was against the Sicilians trapped in Palermo and there wasn't any contest there. That was also the end of the Holy Sicilian Kingdom.

Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
Anyone heard from Triforce? I did send him a pm that his turn was up and then sent him a pm over at the net yesterday in case he wasn't checking over here for some reason.
-
Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
sorry about that. was on vacation, am back now and will play ASAP

Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
Still going to be a bit before I play my turn :(
I joined some 6.4 campaigns, which means I need to reinstall 6.3 on another folder inorder to continue, so It shouldn't be too long I'm downloading it now, I should play turn sometime today after work.

Egypt took Tortosa, but there wasn't any real contest so I didn't take a screenshot. Screenshots:
Greeks took Reval but again no contest. Also Nov won a naval battle against Lith, but forgot to grab screenshot
Edit: The Nov also took back the northern town that the Lith had taken from me. Can't remember the name, but again no contest so I didn't bother with ss

An all Thanatos game? :clown:
I pmed England's player. Do I understand correctly that they haven't been able to play their last few turns?
-
Re: Dual Alliances: Double Jeopardy 6.3
this is a cross org/twc game. most of the people just post over at the twc thread. Guess I just feel there needs to be some posts over here ;)
England is Triforce, he's been able to play his turns, he was just slow a few times :clown: The only team that hasn't been able to play their last couple of turns is Phonic's Egypt/Khwarezm, but that's just because he's been on vacation. Poland and Lithuania/Cuman don't have players, but they're also both in wars that they'll probably lose.
