im not using a pure EB0.74 version..i moded the 0.74 including things from other mods...the grass is from prometheus mod- Res Gestae you can add it to your version too..cuz he released a stand alone version at https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=67513 and even if he hadn't you could always transfer and adapt the necessary files, like i did, cuz he only released this add on a few days ago and i have this grass for weeks..
the trees come from Blue lotus mod...the same thing, rip the necessary files from that mod...one thing, the trees you get from it are not exactly like the ones you see in my first forest screen..i edited the textures,so as to make the white trunks become brown like they appear in the screen...but this new trees are great now i can battle in forests without problems, it can see what im doing..those odd pinetrees from vanilla didn't let me see anything and so i avoided fighting in forests..now it all changed...the same goes for the dense deep forest, with trees of mile wide diameter..hey are now like you see in the second forest set... now i don't run from fights in forests, and is great to fight there...i almost feel like im in the opening battle of the Gladiator movie....
the standard bearers are from the Res gestae mod..same thing rip the necessary files, and add them in the necessary files...see the tutorials of how to add officers...
the horses are from Pinnarius mod...the officers in cavalary were added the same way i explained before... it was easy as soon as i got to understand how the txt files work in rome...but i've add much more to my personal build...new warcrys, new buildings...basically i just messed in the aesthtical part, so i can say that i still play EB...the units are the same..their appeareance too..all i added was eye candy...=):2thumbsup: , it might not be totally acurate..but i can live with a few innacuracies..=)
I was wondering about the trees, I recognised Prom's grass. Both together really make a difference.
Any chance you could release a mini EB mod containing your graphical updates, after asking permission from the various component authors of course? I'll definitely be adding Prom's grass myself, but those trees and suchlike would be a fantastic addition. Trees are one of the things quite a few people complain about, so it'd be useful for quite a few players.

I was thinking mostly of a vegetation mod, since that's what bugs me most. The rest would be a nice extra, but not that necessary; horses would be great though.
to get better results with the grass don't forget to increase the grass view distance bit more...the default is 75..i personally use 500..to tweak this parameter got to preferences.txt in rome total war folder, and look for grass..then alter the value to your hearts desire...=) but beware...increasing the value too much might intoduce fps loss ingame for lower spec pcs...but 300-400 chould not impact your fps too much..i used 600 with everything maxed out except AA and noticed a bit of lag, so i reduced to 500 and the lag disappeared...and my pc is a mid range pc...

and the other trees are a retexture of the lotus blossom tree from Blue Lotus mod..not very good retexture but its better than a flowered cherry tree... the model doesn't help much either, but im no modeller so i can't complain...=)
Iberus, I think the changes to the trees are what would be fabulous in a mini mod. I think the darker trunks that you have in the pics look best and would vote for these. Hope you can release this after getting the approvals. Thanks.

i know exactly what tree goes where...but without permission i can't do nothing...and about the BL tree models, i'm not able to add more models cuz the said models come embeded in the Vegetation.db file...and as we cannot extract them from there...i must wait for the BL to give their consent and release the tree models, so that i can dump the existing vegetation.db file and have the game make a new one....with the BL trees and new trees from NTW2...until then all i can do is retexture them...and as soon as i get permission to share them with you all, i release my pack...
in the mean time i leave you with two additional screens of the default forests so ppl can see how forest look like from afar...it's totaly diferent now...=)

Wow, that's really something Obelics. What is it you've edited exactly? It really looks different from any in-game shot, I can't put my finger on it though. It's just a lot sharper and gorgeous. Would be a good one to go on the EB website gallery.
thanks Wonderland, i just adjusted a bit the contrast, and added a very bit of granulous effect to give it some porousness, and i cutted some unneeded part from the borders (minimap etc), plus i resized it to fit in a 950 lenght window (so it can be viewed without scrolling, cause the original sshoot was more than 1200 pixel lenght)

actually it is more simple than it seems, just regulate the contrast in Photoshop until you obtain a sharp image at your taste, (an automatic contrast should be good), than go in the "filter" menu and select an appropriate filter effect (i have an italian version of Photoshop so im not sure the english name of the effect i use, it should be somethink like "disturb or "rumor", in italian it is "disturbo"), i use a valour between 3.00 and 4.44 max. Anyway after a bit of practice with photoshop you will soon obtain your own style of pic editing.Quote:

That is the smallest unit size. It's crazy, but I've had to go back to a much much slower computer and I simply can't run EB anymore with my beloved huge unit size.

as for the warcries i used a mod that goes around the community, i don't remember his name, but this mod is present in a mod called Barebones, i would post the link for the mod, but it appears not to be working now....but if you have the Barebones v1.5 mod you can alway rip the necessary files into your EB instalation...

Got a rather funky sky in a battle at high altitude near Sarmizethusa. In fake game world it totally freaked out my superstitious Gallic mercenaries (kinda like an eclipse, ya know), and they wouldn't participate in the battle. Lucky for me, the super religious Getai saw it as a sign from Zalmoxis as they went into battle near their holy mountain. Ok, nuff of that, here's the shot:

Pretty funky sky there. It is great how you saw it as a sign, and reacted In Character with your soldiers.

Its one of the RTW.exe command line options to use it just right click on the Europa Barbarorum shortcut on the desktop (The one that is created when you install EB) and insert the following highlighted bit.Quote:

Now whenever you load a replay you will get the movie cam view its pretty simple takes a bit to get familiar with but its nothing to different from normal RTW the most important bit is the spacebar this gets rid of the UI and just leaves a blue "Ruler" bar I don't know how to get rid of it so I just cut it out of my pictures.
The only down side is you can only save battle replays in custom battles (and perhaps quick and historic battles) so you can't use it for campaign screenshots.
As for Proms grass you just extract everything but Grass_readme.txt to the /data directory (after making back ups of course :whip:)

Heh... it's only what happens when units of Nizag Gund charge uphill into a phalanx. I really wish there had been at least some tactical strategy brought forth by the enemy, but I guess that's too much to ask. That and the fact that they emptied their quivers on my phalanx with the only archer unit they had instead of trying to advance to fire on my weaker units. That's where the three deaths came from.
They had a LOT of Nizag Gund, a couple units of Pantodapoi, and a unit of Indian Longbowmen, I think. It equalled a full stack.
Well that certainly makes more sense I've generally found rebel armies in that region to be quite heavy with archers which makes it hard to take them out without largish losses nice to see someone has the luck. :shame:Quote:

yes, your banner is very nice...it captures the wasteland, which is very hard, because, it is so very large.
of course..its a blast..metal, and some features get shiny and stuning....=) if you have a good pc, that's a feature that should be always on...=)

this a part of the map after a 4 on 4 armys with 3 allied against my 10 units of elite myrmidons....one of two custom unit(the other is the light myrmidon) i made from a model in TWC downloads page... they aren't recrutable through normal channels, they are recruited as mercenaries in a XXXX island in greece...so as to not overpower no faction, as both this units are uber strong, to give a lot more strugle to my campaigns...at the beggining there are 4 cities that hired this guys, Syracuse, messana, athens, and thessalia...
i'm loving this units, now it's extra hard to take sicily....i know they will eventually die, cuz this cities can't recruit them, but until i see them all die, i must think carefully...

Can you make a mini-tutorial on how to add different units to EB? Are you replacing other units or are there still empty slots? Won't these slots be mostly occupied in 0.8?
there are at least 14 units slots free...cuz that thats the total number of new units i've ripped from other mods into my EB install... and from what i can gather there are a lot more slots...don't know how many...
my procedure so far, has been adding units, one by one, so as to know when a unit is a unit too much...
tutorials, i could make, but there are already a few around...i used this one for learning how to add the units...https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=51750 and as i'm not add only faction recruitable units, im adding this new units as mercenarys existent only in a specific province, and as rebel only units, specific to a province only, and for that you can learn https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=68402
for limiting to rebels, and rebel revolts, you can add the unit to the appearing revolts in descr_rebel_faction.txt file, and to add a unit to a specific city at the start of the game, go to descr_strat.txt file at the campaign/imperial campaign file, and add them to the specific cities...
it's simple, and quick, but must done with care, so as not to cause glitches, and if you do something wrong in the mercenaries part, the new imperial campaign might not function...but the result compensates a lot...
after all is added i sugest you to restart the campaign to get a full blast, and for the new units to appear immediatly, cuz although some might appear in the existing save, some others don't...but so far this units, and add on have been save game friendly...
so far i have the Trykimia Hoplitai in the south of italy, and recruitable by all hellenic factions, an hoplite, that acts as principes, so as to fill the gap of now phalanx units in hellenic armys, but they are there to be a minority as they are very expensive for this factions..
from the excelent RTR PE Ancient Empires mod i converted some units into my personal install and have Etruscan rebel only units, picenian, umbrian,samnite hastatis and cavalry, lucanian, all for rebels, being that some of this are also avaible as mercs, but not all..
then i added a new faction recruitable unit to the carthagineans from the same mod, the hannibals veterans, recruitables only from spain..
and the two myrmidons coming from the TWC downloads area...
added also a new roman officer, the roman_legate, for the rebels, so as to make roman officers, from italic peoples officers...it works good..
now i'm thinking on turning my attention to Iberia, adding a lot of units to the Lusitani rebels, coming from the Iberia total war mod wich has a lot of cool models, and adding the asturian warriors, one of the best i've ever seen in a iberia faction...
and then i might get back to the greeks...im adding one by one so help me god=) but i think i read around that 0.8 will add as far as 100 new units, so i guess i still have plenty of space for more units in 0.74...
unfortunately for you all i don't plan at the time on releasing the already done units cuz i don't have permition to do that for now, and until the final version of the AE mod is released, so if you want them you'll have to mod them yourself into your own install, and not to distribute them around afterwards...when the mod is release i think Lime will allow me to release an add on for EB, cuz i've already talked with him about it...

i guess most of the unit slots to be filled in 0.8..but we are stll 074, and in 0.74 we have space, when 0.8 comes out, we can think about it, but i prefer to think about the here and now...and for the time being this is for personal consumption so it doesn't affect me..and don't forget 0.74 saves won't be used in 0.8..

I want to add one or two units myself. If 0.8 fills all the slots then it will be a matter of finding the most useless units to replace them for (this is REALLY going to hurt!).
Nice units by the way. You make rebels look interesting. I hate pop-up rebels though. :embarassed:
0.8 will not use all the unit slots. Maximum number of units is 500, maximum number of models is 255.Quote:

the units i've been adding all over the world of EB, are precicely with the intent of making the popup rebels interesting, no longer can i see the vulgar roraii, and velites rebels all over italy, now i get, samnite, samnite spearmen. samnite heavy infantary, samnite hastatis, samnite cavalry, umbrian spearmen, umbrian hastati, etruscan hastati, Etruscan spearmen, Picenean Principes, lucan hastati, lucan spearmen,+20 lusitanii units in lusitania+asturian warriors, and cantabrian cavalry, and cantabrian warriors in iberia, as well as the two kinds of myrmidons only in kretai...all this are pop rebels, as well as mercs, except the etruscans, and lucani, and are some of them in rebel settlements, when possible(etruscans appear in liguria, cuz suposedly some of them sheltered there with the ligurs...) the same for all the other ppl's of italia where their provinces are ocupied by rome or other faction...and im thinking of adding specific rebels to greece next, like artemis bowmen, and spartans, and athenians...all custom, and some of them with retex of mine....
it's a question of almost backbreaking work, but when you are playing rome from the beggining, with the extra dificulty this guys add(i made them opponents, not pushovers) you'll see it was worth it..plus the variety in rebels i awesome, it allows one to understand that the italic ppl had diferent identities, and were not all romans in the begining...
let's hope some wiz kid, or CA, get us a hack so that we can get past the 250 models barrier...
BTW foot, what are the legion pole, and pole things in the descr_skeleton.txt file?what do they do, and for what units are them? anyone in EB has discovered a way to make some horses survive and run away after the rider get's killed..cuz i find it too unrealistic for all the horses to die, when the riders is knocked down...
now im off to make the roman standard for the various factions that can hire italic mercs...cuz all those mercs have roman standards...gona make variations for each faction, so the rebels can have the soccii war banner like they do now, only for them selves...
