If you mean like the last post from FH you click on the READ or SPOIL button to see the screenies that have been posted.
That was some victory FH 69 vs 621 were you using any tatical nuke strikes from the missing missle. :skull:

NN, I'm afraid I am going to have to insist that you leave any nuclear missles that you found, back in Outremer. Don't make me get Elberhard to do a cavity search on Zirn...
And FH, have I ever mentioned that it is absolutely freaky with regards to how good you are with battles? :2thumbsup:

Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Nah, I had a slightly elevated ground (village) I was charging against them from at the start, and their formation was perfectly set up for me to charge from melee without having to break and reform too much.
Battle report is up btw.

Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
looks like ive stirred up a ruckus - and thanks econ or whoever for the extra PM space. i think im gonna need it.

Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
I think you guys misunderstood. I mean that after I take the screenshots in the game, I can't seem to find the screenshots, to look at.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
There is your .tgas file that all the screenshots go to from the game if you cannot find search for it *tgas it should be in the MTW folder mine never worked properly so I use the following and found it very easy to use.
http://www.howiesfunware.com/install...%20Capture.exe
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
I have installed it, but I dont understand how it works. Do I have to be running the program then press prnt scrn, or what?
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
i press prnt scrn, pause the game, and save em into paint.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Roadkill this is what I wrote about screenshots in the "How does one PBM?" sticky:

It sounds intimidating, but you will soon get the hang of it.

I second the FRAPS recommendation. Once you set it up, you just press F10 whenever you want. 'Course, you have open paint and resave as a .jpg if you went them to fit.

Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
I need a rules clarification: Should be announcing 1304 battle results in the Diet now? Since the event takes place in 1304 and we're still in 1302.
...Or does the Chancellor's report signify the *end* of the turn now? I'm a little confused.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Sorry - we are in 1304 now, both IC and OOC. The posting of the Chancellor's report signifies the start of a new year.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
So when you posted the Chancellors report for 1302 that meant we were in 1304? Got it.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Sorry to double post, but when I had I save I was messing around a bit and forgot to undo things. It's nothing major, I just had Tancred and Peter moving to Constantinople. So if you see that it's not a plot point from econ but Cecil tinkering with things.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
you changed stuff around in the save? so, should I take it or take the one before? o_O
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
It's perfectly fine to take. In fact, you can undo it by moving Peter and Tancred out of their respective stacks and and back in again.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
I'll take the save now, if that's all right.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Oh so their stacks had already used their full move points but you set up destination arrows? Cool. Maybe I'll set the arrows to point somewhere interesting and hope no one notices. ^_^
*still don't have save yet cuz I stayed late at school*

Yeah, Ig it's cool. I'm not home yet.

And where's OK?
Buddy, make sure those Polish nobles get pounded!! I don't want any more deaths in the family :laugh4:
No pressure mate...but I'm back next Tuesday to finally take back over Arnold's battles.
Make hay while the sun shines.
I think a night battle would be a good move.

I don't know where OK is but I got dibs on the next save. I'm finally home and I'm just waiting for Ig to upload it. I noticed he's back and I'm rearing to go and release people!

I have this incovenient thing called a job to attend to. I will fight the battle in about 8-9 hours, 1300 ish GMT. I usually default to night battles, if available, unless it conveys no advantage or the enemy has a lot of bow men (flaming arrows bad).
Don't push me though AG, or I'll start releasing prisoners. :laugh4:

By the way, I am starting to wonder if the following was a statement or a question:

We should really think about imposing a time limit on how long you can hold a save, say 2 hours. The current rules were designed for a linear handoff, not a cattle call like we have now.
However, econ21 isn't here, and he's the only one who has the authority, as Chancellor, to yank back a save.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Yeah, Ig was told to clear out an area in France so he might be fighting a series of battles which would take longer. But I'm starting to wonder if his last post was a statement or a question. I always try to make it really clear when I have the save.
I want to fight it now before I pass out but I'm afraid he has it and might be fighting his as we speak. Bah, if he doesn't come back soon I'm going to give up my "dibs" and go to bed. I'll try and get to it in the morning. If it is still not up by morning, I will not be a happy camper...
*grumble grumble*
*edit*
of course, once I have coffee in the morning, my mood will most likely improve... ^^

Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
"Don't push me though AG, or I'll start releasing prisoners."
Don't go and do that OK. I just promised Roadkill he could be my official executioner. :beam:
He's actually got a 6 in piety PK. He's not the anti christ...
well sort of...
well maybe. :beam:
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Yeah, the "anti-christ" title in this game might actually go to Peter. He has 0 Piety because of the Humanist trait. But he has high dread which is funny when put together with Humanism. Maybe he wants to study people so he can be better at disassembling them. Or he believes that people matter, it just doesn't matter whether they are dead or alive. Even in little pieces, they matter. :laugh4:
of course you could argue that the anti-christ would actually have insanely high piety. Depends on your perspective I suppose.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
There's certainly endless possibilities in playing the combination of traits. :dizzy2:
-

Quote:

Yeah, that is a lot of the fun in my opinion. I try to work in every trait. It depends on the "amount". +1 traits are worked in a little, +2 more, and so on. Jan has 8 chivalry but he has "winning first" which gives him +1 dread. I use it to give Jan a "slight" moral ambiguity which allows him to better maneuver in the Diet while still being basically "good". He doesn't lie per se, he just doesn't tell the whole truth. ^_^
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Sorry about the delay; the battle quit on me. I was annoyed, because this has happened to me when playing MTW2 a couple of times, and it would chose a KotR battle.
As the battle report was useless, I was too disappointed to refight manually, so I autoresolved it.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Alright Ig, sorry for getting impatient. I was just getting to wonder what was up after 4 and a half hours. Sorry about your computer crapping out.
I have the save.

Sounds good - let's do that.
This is probably closing the stables doors after the horses have left, but for each battle, I need you to post or send me the required information for this table:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showp...&postcount=286
The easiest way to do it is talk a screenshot of the post battle report and manually note the pre-battle odds (put your mouse over the relative strengths bar).
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Sorry I took so long. Had three battles to fight. Got a new title. Woot! :2thumbsup:
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/kotr1304-4.zip
will PM econ my stats in a minute.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Another statement of the obvious - if people plan to post a battle report, please post a placeholder in the relevant thread.
EDIT: Ignoramus: did you keep a note of your battle stats? How many fights did you have?
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
I have got a screenshot, I just haven't uploaded it yet. I will get that up soon. I only had the one battle, as all three French armies were next to each other.

Stig - from your continued posts in the Diet, Ansehelm is clearly not sitting it out and is getting himself very involved. You can't complain if this leads to in character responses.

Well yeah, but as I said, what happens if I ignore everything. Because you guys decided to do something with Franconia Ansehelm is automatically drawn in. As PK said.
Would you have done it with Bavaria, Swabia or Austria I could sit it out.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
If you're looking for a good out, Stig, you could go for the "long illness". Northnovas used this when he was on vacation. It keeps you out of the action, and you get plausible deniability for anything that happens while you're sick.
Your call.
Also, while I don't know the details, I'm sure all the houses are going to be dragged through the @#@$ before it's all said and done.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Gibson is acting on his own initiative - neither TinCow, Ituralde nor myself asked him too. However, we did happily accept his suggestions as they fit perfectly with our draft plot. Just because you personally are opposed to this cataclysm event, you cannot OOC veto Franconian players from being involved just because IC you play their Duke.
As I see it, you can either be in this as Duke, and not complain OOC, or you can get Ansehelm to resign/appoint a Steward, and happily sit it out.
Your staying involved IC and getting pissed off OOC is not going to make this a good experience for you. Or me.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
I'm not involved because I want to be involved, and making someone a Steward is a lousy way out imo. It's just that when Peter deserted people began shouting at Ansehelm.
As I said, I wanted Ansehelm to easely sit this out in Magdeburg or so, from where he can comment on things but only would he want it. Because of this, Ansehelm needs to stay in the frontline as we lack commanders.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Stig, if Ansehlem remains Duke then Elberhard will have to interact with him and I will have him do it strictly in character. If that leads to bad feelings on your part OOC, as it apparently has done in the past, then I apologise but it will not be my intention.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of time for outrage against Lothar soon enough. Peter is just one piece in a larger puzzle. He just happens to be the focus at the moment. Once the next part of the plot unfolds, the Diet will almost forget about him.

How long do you need? ie when would you be able to fight the battle?
I don't think there will be any defensive battles, so I could give you another 24 hours.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
I'll be able to get to it tonight (i.e. by 5 AM GMT) If it fits the schedule somehow, I'd love to fight this one, but don't hold up the plot just for me.

That'll be fine. I've promised not to proceed faster than one turn per 48 hours so there will be no hold up.
-
Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
Battle fought and won.
I put my pavise xbmen in loose formation and skirmished with the Polish Nobles. This worked great, but as soon as I advanced to envelop the main body, they fled even before the lines made contact. This might be explained by the fact that Joachim of Lwow, their leader, has had several runs in with Peter before and so has several negative command traits such as "afraid of the dark".
I apologize to AG for not giving them an authoritative crushing, but casualties were light for our side.

New orders for Overknight
Duke Arnold:
Deadline for fighting the two battles is 24 hours from now; if they are unfought by then, they will hold over to next year.

I don't mean to be rude Stig but this might apply to you right now.

It is not in character and has no political significance in the Diet. It's purely something in my neutral role as Gamesmaster. I am rolling dice for certain events and people's answers are being used to modify the results.

Re: King of the Romans Out of Character thread XIII
First,
They again chose to deploy near the back of the map, but unfortunately for them it was at the bottom of the hill. I weakened them with arrow fire, charged the infantry from the front, and sent in most of the cav from the right flank. The Poles were gutted, but that slippery coward Joachim managed to make it back to Krakow.
I infiltrated the nearby spy (apologies for the presumption) and he managed to survive and open the gates.
Second,
I must admit, I'm tired so I auto-calced the assault.
Krakow is ours. Despite hearing this terrible voice in my head telling me to exterminate, I sacked the place.
