save returned.

In a dramatic development, I am sad to report....
https://img367.imageshack.us/img367/...lasdeadop4.jpg
that former Megas Nevoulas ek Philadelphiuswas slain in the most recent battle.
I will forward on a will to Tincow as soon as possible. I shall write the conclusion to Nevoulas' life tomorrow.
Isaakios Komnenus managed to survive (just) the battle and has a Veteren Warrior and Sheildbearer added to his retinue. Isaakios pressed on to siege the settlement.

Taking the save.
Edit: Nevermind, I was just going to move Tiv, but his path is already set from last turn. He should progress during the end of turn phase.

Borrowed 2 units of cavalry from Yerevan(ooc: Ituralde gave me permission in the last turn report). Successfully lifted the siege on Tbilisi after a long and bloody fight. Cavalry has been decimated. All prisoners were executed after the sultan rejected our ransom offer.

Re: Megas Logothetes' and Senators' Reports
Report for 1158:
Battles:
The war against Venice had its first important battle. And although we won it was at the great loss of Nevoulas ek Philadelphias! He was an inspirational man who led the Empire with a steady hand. He will be missed in the days to come.
Another victory was won against a small Venetian fleet in the Strait of Sicily. Admiral Niphos is on his way to besiege Ragusa port.
While we are on the topic of the navy. It is important that the Imperial fleet is under full control at all times to engage the Venetians at sea and to open up a new front on the Italian peninsular. Senator Theo Petzeas has seized several fleets and is now controlling the largest Imperial fleet! I urge him to use these ships against our common enemy the Venetians or release control of them, so that they can be used to carry the fight to their shores!
I congratulate Andronikos Komnenos on removing the Seljuk threat to Tblisi.
Recruitment:
Ioannis Komnenos used 0 out of his 15 PUs.
Armatos ek Naksou used 6 out of his 6 PUs.
Ioannis Kalameteros used 4 out of his 8 PUs.
Nikolaos Aristenos used 4 out of his 4 PUs.
Apionnas Vringas used 4 out of his 4 PUs.
Methodious Tagaris used 0 out of his 2 PUs.
With no Prioritized Units to recruit some money was spent on retraining the soldiers lost in the defense of Tblisi.
Construction:
Ioannis Komnenos used 0 out of his 2 PBs.
Armatos ek Naksou used 0 out of his 1 PB.
Ioannis Kalameteros used 0 out of his 1 PB.
Nikolaos Aristenos used 1 out of his 1 PB.
Apionnas Vringas used 0 out of his 1 PB.
Several Chapels and Churches were finished throughout the Empire to spread the Faith. The new Highways now reach all the way to Athens.
The walls of Alexandria are about to be enlarged. This major undertaking has stripped the Imperial treasury of most of its content leaving no money to do a similar but more expensive construction in Antiokheia.
As it stands the required 12 000 florins will be hard to come by with an annual income of around 6000 florins right now. This means there won't be any construction for at least the next two turns.
Domestic Affairs:
The Merchant's Guild is offering it's services to Nicaea. I await word on the matter. Please refrain from accepting these offers yourself as spending the money of our Empire is solely up to the Megas Logothetes.
Speaking of Nicaea. A large group of dissenters is plaguing the countryside. It is time to intervene.
Foreign Affairs:
The Germans have joined the Crusade and are now marching towards Tunis. They are currently in the Nile delta. The French Crusaders have not boarded ships and seem instead intent on taking the long way around to reach Tunis entirely by land.

Re: Megas Logothetes' and Senators' Reports
Report for 1159:
Battles:
Caesar Methodios Tagaris has defeated the last Fatamid stronghold in Mecca. While this does not abolish him from breaking Imperial law we can now rest easier with one major heathen threat removed from our borders.
The fleet under Admiral Niphos has defeated another larger division of Venetian ships and now proceeds towards Ragusa. His fleet is damaged and he won't be able to beat the Venetians back for long.
I had hoped to reinforce his fleet with those ships used by Nevoulas ek Philadelphias which have been seized by Theo Petzeas. During a time where our treasury runs low this Senator has a fleet worth 7000 florins under his command whose upkeep costs the Empire 1700 florins each turn!
These ships are needed in the war against Venice. The Eastern Mediterranean is safe. If Theo Petzeas does not relinquish command of these ships I will be forced to take more direct consequences.
No Prioritized Units have been forwarded to me. I have recruited two units of Byzantine Spearmen and two units of Byzantine Cavalry in Belgrade and Sofia, after removing three of each from each castle. I will recruit the remaining units taken once more funds and recruits are available. I thank Zigavinos Vasilakios and Apionnas Vringas for their cooperation on this matter. The units are intended for Savvas ek Militou.
I see that Tiverios Indikoplefstis is marching on Ragusa, while Aleksios ek Ikoniou is in a good position to march on Zagreb. This would leave Savvas ek Militou in a good position to transfer to the Italian mainland. Admiral Niphos will be at his disposal once the blockade of Ragusa port was successful. I would gladly offer more ships, but unfortunately they have all been taken by Senator Theo Petzeas.
Construction:
Ioannis Komnenos used 0 out of his 2 PBs.
Armatos ek Naksou used 1 out of his 1 PB.
Ioannis Kalameteros used 0 out of his 1 PB.
Nikolaos Aristenos used 1 out of his 1 PB.
Apionnas Vringas used 0 out of his 1 PB.
With the money gained from the sacking of Mecca construction could begin on Huge Stone Walls in Antioch, as requested by Armatos ek Naksou.
With this major project out of the way and our armies up to strength I am confident that further Construction will be undertaken next turn.
Domestic Affairs:
In an effort to boos our financial gains the offer of the Merchant's Guild in Nicaea was accepted.
The Venetian citizens of Nevoulion have rioted against their new rule. Thousands died in the streets and several buildings were damaged.
Foreign Affairs:
The King of France passed away this year as well as the Duke of Poland. Also in the Holy Empire a new regent now leads the country.
The Milanese have opened a second front against the Venetians. This should help our war effort immensly!

Re: Megas Logothetes' and Senators' Reports
With the permission of Armatos ek Naksou I have taken the garrison of Dongola into my army and placed a company of peasants from Thebes who did not quite have sufficient movement to reach Dongola in position to become the new garrison next season. If the Megas wishes to maintain order and prevent riots and a potential loss of income he could always train some fresh men at Dongola.

New save
Moved out of Kosmopolis to deal with the lone rebel general by the Red Sea coast.
With Efthymios' permission, moved garrison out of Solomeia en route to Kosmopolis to keep order.
The building of a church in Kosmopolis by the Megas would be appreciated.
