For your information, christian religions are now tolerated in Spain, and many of the muslims that were expelled were given territories and land in Africa. Of course we keep in mind our brave soldiers; we owe you so much. You moved out to fight the strongest army in the world. Your strength, your bravery, your discipline and your unity gave us victory. And made you a role model for us all. You suffered want and you gave blood, but you never gave way. You stood side by side, Catholics and Huguenots, not caring about religion, but well aware of the heavenly mission you executed. God bless you all! Your king is very proud to have such a fine army.

The whole Christian world is amazed at your outstanding, almost supernatural victory. Doesn’t it show that God Himself has led your sword? Isn’t it evident that you fought a just war?

Although we would not be able to celebrate our victory without the assistance of the Heavenly Forces, there had been many men working for our victory. Many programs have been executed during the last years, to improve the strength of our nation and the strength of our armed forces. Let me name just a few.

During the last years we managed to combine our armed forces to one mighty instrument. You are no longer Catholic or Huguenot soldiers, you are no longer soldiers of Languedoc or Anjou, today you are one strong army of soldiers that serve King and country. You are supported by a strong organization that cares about supply, organization and training for all of you. Also, let’s not forget the improvements coming from our new manufactories. You were the best equipped soldiers in this conflict. The firepower of the new flintlock guns caused terror and desperation among our enemies. The new schools for our officers raised their abilities. You were the best led soldiers in this war. Just look at the seizure of Ulm, one of the strongest fortresses in the world. Our soldiers were able to take it in a coup de main. This operation will go down in history!

I already mentioned the importance of the discipline and unity of our soldiers. They pulled the duty, lead by officers of Catholic or Huguenot faith. The difference in faith could not separate them; the heavenly mission tied them together.

Also let’s not forget our allies. Some years ago, when my father, the good King Henri was killed by a religious fanatic, the country was surrounded by hostile enemies, which tried to destroy our country. Look at it now. We have a close alliance with our friends in Spain and Savoy. We also could rely on the support of our Dutch, Swiss and English neighbors. I thank them all. Today France is surrounded by friends. The power of our old enemy, the Holy Roman Empire, is broken. Nevertheless, we shake hands with our German neighbors. France wants to live in peace with all of her neighbors.

Now we have peace, a peace, bought with pain and blood. What are we going to do now? Is this peace even worth the efforts, the blood? I know that some thing that we gave in too early; that we should have demanded more of the land of the Holy Roman Empire. Even the Pope made that proposal. I ask you, Lord of France and soldiers are we nothing but thieves? Did we start this war for prey? Wouldn’t that been a very ignoble cause?

We started this war to create the fundament for a new, a better France. We fought for a united France, where everybody could live in freedom, free from hunger, free from fear, free from religious suppression. I tell you, I have a dream. I see people of different confession living together, side by side, in peace and brotherhood. You may say I am a dreamer, but look at the soldiers of our glorious army. They lived the dream. They fought together side by side, they even died together. And they found out that it makes no difference, if your next is Catholic or Huguenot. He is your brother, even more, he is French!

I tell you this army is the role model for France. Let us all stand together like brothers, lets us increase the wealth of this country. Let us stand as one. There is nothing we cannot achieve. Let us become a role model, too, for the whole Christianity. One day all Christian nations may reunite, may live together the way we demonstrate it in France. I pray to God that this dream will come true.

Until then let us construct a new and better France. We now have the chance. We have a strong army that guarantees peace. We receive financial compensation from Germany. Let us use it wisely, to make France better and stronger.

Beside our soldiers, our noblemen will be the main column of new country. Many of you gave a lot in the past to support the country. I know that and I will not forget you. Our colonies are booming and there is a lot lucrative tasks for you there. Furthermore, I would like to start reducing serfdom. This has been a good institution in the past, but now it has lost its purpose. Those Lords which release their serfs will get a good compensation for that. The King will pay them in gold. Of course, participation on this program is voluntary.

The King will also expand the opportunities for trade and manufacturing. The King will offer excellent opportunities to invest money. In this way, the nobles get the choice to transfer their financial bases from agriculture to international trade and production enterprises. As always, they will be the ones that increase the wealth and power of our country.

I promise you to make the dream come true, together with you all. Although I am a dreamer, I know that our path will be thornful. Our enemies are not sleeping. They begrudge our success. They try to separate us, try to split us with lies and detractions. I tell you, they underrate us. They underrate our strength. They underrate our unity. there is no French fleet intercepting your ships,
there had not been any support for Bethlen and I cannot remember any insults.

Please ask the Most Catholic King of France, the military leader of the Holy Alliance, or the Pope, the spiritual leader of the Holy Alliance and all Catholics.

These were terms presented to all who want me to recall my troops, I know you have no ships intercepting our fleets and that you have no troops in Suez, King of France.
