Cthonic Monsters were converted Ghosts, who retained their other abilities in addition to having a 25% chance of either inducing madness in their target (scottish gained control of their vote) or outright killing someone. They could not be converted to any other alignment.
Certain roles would make better Cthonic Monsters, specifically other Psychics, including you
Ack.

Oh -- what would have happened with Double A if I'd resurrected myself? One of the reasons I did not was because I didn't want to lose his investigations.

Double A would have indeed lost his abilities - I designed it as a moral choice for you. Either let Double A's character suffer and gain possible game breaking information, or come back, remove any chance he could go rogue, but suffer in your chances to find the mafia.
And even if you tried to metagame it by coming back and dying, you could never actually erase Double A's path towards serial killerishness.
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
ah...too bad the game had to end this way. The best thing about the game was the writeups and the complexity. thoroughly enjoyed it :2thumbsup: the fact that we have to find ourselves an apprentice looked difficult to begin with. I thought i will convert Beskar (since it was common knowledge he started as townie) and then ask him to become my apprentice. Fact that he was protected by Jolt the first 2 nights got me nowhere.
as told already, i was the town priest and TheFlax was my apprentice who was now free to work on his own. I was going to ask Greyblades to be my next apprentice :sweatdrop:
I had a lot of discussions with Renata trying to figure what was happening and she obvious had more information to give me. We were trying to find the Irish doctor (Jolt). Discounted Beskar's theory about Andres being the doctor that saved him was discounted. We thought Sevis could be the doctor...but no. Our next actions were to convert Beskar and Seon back to townies if their alignment had changed.
@ White_eyes: if you are talking abt me being non co-operative... initiating communication with a "spill everything you know or i will force it out of you" PM is not going to get much co-operation...atleast from me
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
You should have saw how he responded when I sent him a pm which said "Hello Ada". :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: his trousers turned brown.
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
I was doomed anyway:laugh4:
besides, I got what I wanted out of Renata:mellow:
Me and my "Buffing" really got me much farther then I should have...:juggle2:
CDF signed me and Renata's death warrant by giving Andres our role names...:sweatdrop:(That sore loser:stare:)
Beskar was already telling Andres who you were and you likely would have died this night or the one after....(I figured you might also be "Nxy" and Beskar just said...."IDK Kill'em all":laugh4:)
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
The most enjoyable part about this game for me joking around saying I am Nyarlathothep, noticing that Nyarlathothep had indeed appeared in town, and then going into discussions about what Nyarlathothep wants with anyone I could grab hold of :p

I investigated you before we got anything from CDF...I don't think he said anything about you anyway.
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
I am sorry to see you leaving YLC.
I had a lot of fun with this game, and I hope someday you can regale us with the full tale of that creeping darkness. Though I was scared of the unknown, I appreciated every minutes I was alive, and the atmosphere.
Have a good one,

It was fun while it lasted, pity it didn't.
Yeah, it was quite interesting. I was contemplating playing CDf or using him as a conduit to help scotty, but I kinda messed up when I was preparing for something IRL and forgot about the investigation results for the Ghost QT fellows, accidentally getting Chaotix off the Voice of the Dead role :embarassed:
Great game YLC, I really loved the write ups, and the general confusion whereupon it seemed like nobody knew what was going on :2thumbsup:
Really sorry to see you leaving, you said you would leave the first time, and came back. I really hope that you'll be back soon again, though I'll just be here to read your write ups, due to my inability to participate except in select months. I love your games, and your style of the gameplay, do come back soon.
And to CDf, thanks for recruiting me, it was great fun being a cultist before I got converted again :smash::clown:
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
Aww. Disappointing that things had to end.
Good call, Andres. Indeed I was a regular townie. I wanted to die so I could at least be a ghost or something useful.

Wait, I was going on the path towards genocide even though my orders were protect and investigate?
Wut?
And in the next game in this series, you should definitely keep the GC. And knowing the mafia godfather was kinda cool, like you know who the head honcho is but don't know how you're going to take him out until you get there. Next time, have more fights between me and Khazzar, I have a good idea as to why you cut the fight, but that would have made the game for me right there.

I had Atheotes protected this last night, by Double A. :p And would have lied to you about Double A finding the doctor, as well (Jolt was his investigation choice), so that situation wasn't going to change unless something crazy happened.
Jolt and A1, why did you stay so quiet, even after I was dead and begging for information?
Sevis would have prevented us from lynching Andres, wouldn't he? We still would have had to find him before the game could end, and as already investigated (yeah, of course Atheotes had some limits in that regard, but how many non-Town roles would have been doing nothing? (especially active players like Sevis)) it would have taken quite some time to work back around to him. Things could have changed quite a bit.
Games with lots of recruitment and alignment-changing like this one aren't easy to deal with. I'm not usually a fan, but the storyline in this one got me hooked. I have to tell you that getting that role PM with Christmas coming up and knowing I'd have no time whatsoever for the next several weeks ... eek.
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
I doubt you'd have to lynch me to lynch Andres - after all, I was not mafia, even though I won with it. I was actually quite sure Andres was already lynchable after this night would end...
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
So both me and Andres killed each other......Awesome:beam:
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
Oh and Sasaki, as I noticed in your quick-topic. There was two ways I contacted you. One was to gain information on pro-town roles and other roles, which could have given me access to the towns resources. Also, at the same time, I wasn't 100% sure you was indeed scum, so I wasn't going to say to you "I am working for Andres", as you would have pasted it to the town. Thus, I confronted you as a neutral role.
To Andres, I always spoke with messages like "To my master", etc. Which was to gain his trust in such a degree that he would be willing to spare me. Thus not get night-killed.
Funnily enough, I kept talking to Renata the whole game who turned out to be psychic zero. :laugh4:

:beam:
Yeah, I do that. But apparently the mafia were not willing to take my information willingly given :laugh4: Instead having to figure it out on there own.
This was one of the funnest games I have been in YLC, the setting and setup were wonderful.
I sent a pair of PM's to double A and White eyes after I was dead stating that I wanted to see if I was right in my intel, I thought AA was Psychic zero and I KNEW white eyes was Ada. I was wrong about AA, he was only a regular psychic, but hey can't get them all.
But honestly mafia, I gave you all these power roles names before I was lynched (well, I did tell you it was possible AA was a power role), and you were only getting to them NOW :laugh4::laugh4::laugh4:
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
I just wanted to say that Andres was awesome. Best role ever. If any points were given out for stylishness he should have won this thing by a mile.
Re: That Creeping Darkness (Concluded)
CDF, I wasn't just a regular psychic. I had a freaking protection, and when Renata died, I could do 2 actions including a cumulative night kill.
That's pretty overpowered right there.
