Yaaaas, Spurs destroyed. They should've had this...
Make that two good goals now. Cheerio.
Edit:
Well, I neglected to mention domestic events at the weekend. Having just seen
one of the highlights programmes last night I feel impressed enough to mention
one game in particular. While most of the results were very much 'business as
usual' as this season's form goes, the scum were pumped sideways by Kaunas
B. Indeed, the first two goals, which admittedly came from Kaunas' non-Lithuanian
contingent, were very watchable efforts. Considering the tanking the Baltic ones
took against Celtic, it was unexpected, though I am glad to see them coming
back to relative normality - as well as putting the buns back in their place.
Down south it appears as though Bolton may just have started a lengthy stint
at the foot of the table. A moment of brilliance from Kenny Miller [who should
certainly not have gone to a club as shockingly poor as Derby] managed to
bring his new team through against the barcodes. Bent Sam just refuses
to do his old club any favours, doesn't he?
Down Bolton go. :smash:
CL fixtures tonight:
The wonders of regional programming variations again mean I am condemned
to watch the Celtic game as opposed to the scheduled terrestrial English CL
game. [Scouse, I think.] Although with Celtic's appalling away form in Europe,
and the way things have been going of late, I think it could possibly make for
a more exciting affair. If it's anything like the Spartak game I suppose I'll be
glad I didn't bother with Benitez's excrement-plus-stick approach to the game.
Edit: Miller's strike against Newcastle. Recent EPL videos on youtube are
a rarity. So either this will be gone within a few hours, or, as I suspect might
be the case, its lack of commentary and Polish origin might save it.
I've had a bad feeling since walrus face left us. :sweatdrop: Petit Sam just doesn't appear to have a clue. The Brian Kidd syndrome? :inquisitive:  :shame:
Edit:
So, IA, as a wise old man once asked, "What Is to Be Done?" Obviously the wee
man has to go, but who would replace him? Ronald Koeman, Fabio Capello? I
mention those names because they're being lined up for the Spurs job, but who
knows, maybe they could be distracted while they're over here. That said, even
though a reputable manager like either of those two is what you need to keep
players like Anelka, I don't think the transfer budget of two pound fifty would
attract them. ~;p
I don't want to see Bolton relegated. And on that subject I thought it might be
time to ask the question, who do any of you want to see go down this year,
and of course who would you want to replace them?
I'm quite keen to see the following teams gone, most probably in this order:
And, in an ideal world, I would view their replacements as:
As it is, if early form and results are anything to go by, it looks like Coventry are
going to come up, as well as Watford bouncing straight back. The thought of
that is slightly depressing to me. With the three teams I listed coming up, I think
we would see quite a strong lineup, with some open, attacking football. We'd
also get regular derbies or rivalries being played out. And the Black Country
derby is one I've wanted to see at the top level for a while now.
Nae luck, eh. Though do you not mean Chelsea - Rosenborg? That'd be evenQuote:

needs 500 chances to score, though. And Southgate continues his journey back through

Sevilla are going to be very difficult tonight.
CL fixtures:
On the national front, Scotland's recent performances have brought them up
to 14th in the FIFA rankings. [England sit 9th.] Not bad for a bunch of players
that don't resemble a football team, I'd say. :grin2:
CL Results:
Almost a good night for all home teams. Mancs were lucky tonight. Van der Sar
saved them on a number of occasions. It's about time somebody put them away
for their poor performances. Arsenal were exceptional. Sevilla were very good
themselves, so that tells you about the quality and confidence running through
the Arsenal side. I would've said an Escudé own goal to open with, but I see it's
being credited by Uefa as Fabregas' goal. He created the second, scored by van
Persie, and Eduardo scored at the death.
Won't bother saying anything about Rangers, other than that they came back
from a goal down, and clearly managed to withstand the kind of pressure that
dismantled Celtic in Donetsk last night. They needed that, because they'll be
destroyed outside of Glasgow.
Edit: José Mourinho is gone.
Say what you want about him and his style of play, but I'll miss him in the
English game. I thought he was a good character, good entertainment, and
a casualty of another autocratic owner who knows very little about success
on a football pitch.
Edit2: You just know he's already had 5 missed calls from Spurs.
Steaua played horrible. And point to that.
Arsenal played exceptional, same for Barcelona. Fabregas is a small genius.
And goodbye Mourinho. I will miss your arrogance, but you style of play isn't too interesting.
And tonight, guess what?
AJAAAAX AMSTEEEERDAAAAMMMM - Dinamo Zagreb. At Zagreb.

Dinamo are dangerous, so I'm surprised at that score.
Rabotnički are leading against Bolton. I feel better now.
So do I.

I'm with RJ on Mourinho. I'm pleased he's gone from a wrecking Chelsea's season point of view, but he was a great character, and made the league more interesting. I hope he stays in the Prem.
The press releases from Chelsea seem to suggest that Grant thinks he's more than a care taker manager, interestingly.
Well he is tight with Roman, so as long as he does the weekly brown nosing he should be alright.Quote:

Edit: In all seriousness, I think he might well take over at Inter. He says he's either
going to learn Italian or German. And I think his ambitions are higher than putting
Stuttgart back on course. As much as I like the Bundesliga as a league [and prefer
to watch it over Italian football] I think the pull of Inter would be too great for any
German sides to compete. Perhaps Bayern, yes, but they're doing fine.
I would just like to draw your attention once more to the following:

Well, maybe not, but it's pretty funny seeing them drawing with a dreadfully out-of-form Bolton and languishing in the relegation zone after all of their pre-season bluster.
E-M-A-N-U-E-L A-D-E-B-A-Y-O-R.
That name was on every Arsenal fan' lips yesterday. He demolished Derby County by himself.

Derby's defence is woeful at the moment, but still very nice play. As for
the Uzbek's involvement with Arsenal, I read some interesting points elsewhere.
Now when the agreement the board has made that prevents them from sellingQuote:
Usmanov paid £20m for a block of 1,953 shares.
That works out at £10,250 each, far in excess of their market valuation of £8,350...
Indeed it might even make Lady Bracewell-Smith wonder. Four years ago her stake in Arsenal [15.9%] was worth £15m. Now it is worth £100m
finally expires, they're not going to resist that kind of money, are they? I think
it is fair to say Arsenal doesn't need it. Dein is surely close enough to Wenger
to know what he wants for the club, so I can only imagine that Wenger does
want more money, despite managing to get good players in for low prices. Or
if you are right and Dein is merely giving his food an extra few chews, it isn't
looking good.

Likkul bowton found a form of sorts at last. Nice to see Giannakopoulus back on form after his last seasons woeful attempts. :2thumbsup:
