I play on huge, but in the spirit of compromise, I feel we should do large; it is, after all, the recommended size for EB and I think most, if not all, player's computers can handle it. This is, of course, assuming mini's comp can handle it. I agree with mini, hard campaign, medium battles is the sweet spot. Very hard will make things waaay to tedious and unrealistic when we have to discuss who get's to combat the massive invasion every other season.

Fuzz actually said the opposite, medium diplomacy and hard battles.
And on the huge or large issue. I have to say large. This isn't cause my computer can't handle it(quad core with buckets of RAM!), but because I know its frustrating if interacitve AARs are huge and you have to struggle to fufill your duties. Indeed, the only reason the TWC version doesn't use EB is because it's too slow for some people.
Go with large, since I notice that it crashes alot on my comp even though it plays VERY smoothly on huge.....:furious3:
Got it Aurelius seems good.
Better that Aurelius?
It's a good family.
Of course you could pick any gens you like, or indeed make one up.
I would be more than willing to tone down the graphics so i can play on Huge, not that I think I will have the time to adopt and play a family member anyway...
[QUOTE=We shall fwee...Wodewick]Quite right sir. Then I will state that my opinion differs, I think hard campaign keeps things interesting (romani don't have too many strong neighbors early on, and actually it's later strength is a nice deterrent causing the AI to leave you alone for good periods of time). I don't like harder difficulty levels in battles personally. On a 1:1 battle I like to leave with no more than 10-20% casualties. In most cases, battles were won with few casualties on the winning side (comparatively, except in the case of Pyrrhos or a few others). Now maybe I just suck, but that's my opinion.Quote:

Guys my previus name was Vincent_Valentine, just wanted to say this to change my name in the list of interested senators. I will probably not play, just debate and vote as senator. I was also wondering, would it be possible that I could have some kind of greek (Kroton - Magna Graecia) roots and rise to a significant political status as to hold a senatorial office?
As for the game, I suggest you play on Hard/Medium with Force Diplomacy (just to make sure the AI behaves like it should). As for unit size, huge causes problems with city population and happiness I think, I always play with 100 men (from the preferences.txt). BI would be even better, but I don't think many have this abillity...
Historically allied cities, including the Greek cities of the south (and don't forget Naples- far closer to Rome) maintained their own governments. For a long time after the start of the EB period, the Greek cities in Italy maintained their own language and cultures. But that does not preclude someone gaining Roman citizenship and going into politics. Claudius Sabinus supposedly did it and became consul about a decade after becoming a Roman citizen.
So theoretically it would be possible you say? Just to have roots from there, I mean like a grandfather from there or something.
EDIT: So I am a Roman citizen with roots from the city of Kroton. My grandfather fought as a mercenary for the Romans then settled in Roma and made lots of gold, married a Roman and Romanised himself while still keeping some of his traditions.
My whole life has been within Roma, my education is very good, having been taught Latin and Ancient Greek, rhetoric, geometry and the like. I'm mostly quiet, I like excersising, dislike money and thus give it freely (hopen handed, not that good). Severvs Acilivs Scaeva (left-handed) will be my name 30 years old. A man of average height, weight and looks. Mostly my fellow Romans make a little fun of my greek roots, but I don't mind. I'm also a big fan of public buildings like baths and gymnasia where I talk a lot with people and know their problems.
That was a little too much maybe, but I guess it's ok.
Hey, mini, sorry for prodding, but when is the campaign starting? There is a lot of impatient Senatores around here...:whip:
29 or 30 senatores, depending on whether True Praetorian was showing interest or just commenting on what .exe he uses:beam:
As the count currently goes; 3 have stated favour for normal size, 6 for huge and 7 for large.
But of course Mini has dictatorial powers for the beginning of the game and so may overrule any vote.

If you counted me in those who would prefer "huge", don't count me. I don't think I'll ever play the battles anyway; I won't be very active.Quote:

I would highly prefer using huge unit sizes, though large is fine if we have to use that. But definitely not normal or anything smaller.
Well, I could always be a non-accomplished Senator that barely participates unless like a pawn for some powerful one that I am indebted to. I certainly won´t play any battles nor play a big role, but I guess there´s always a need for someone that the good orators can convince.
Real life? I've heard of it, but work and EB get in the way.Quote:

ok guys
My pc had given way the whole past week
fuck knows what was wrong, all i know is that I suddenly fired it up for the fun of it and it worked again... Strange things pc's are.
Anywayz,We'll be getting started on Tuesday.
I'll pop in my first years as consul, and i'll prolly take another FM.
That still leave a few FM's to be dispersed, and i'm unsure as to how to decide who gets first pick. WHomever I chose, the others might feel left out or anything, as it takes a while for the next FM's to pop up.
Remember that sons and adoptions are to be decided by the person playing the FM, so be nice to the lucky peepz who get first pick, and you'll get your own a bit faster maybe ;)
Anywayz, cya all on Tuesday for kick off :D
Where is the actual game being posted, and how can i get a FM
I don't have a proper answer for you.
Probably it its own thread here in the AAR subforum.
FMs might be handed out first come first served, but I think it's likely that there will be some kind of election.
I only really posted to point out that it is Tuesday. Hopefully Mini's PC hasn't packed in again.
