Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
You all seem to be taking to your roles like hogs to slop.
If you're still not sure how to run your role, feel free to PM me. I'll send you some more background and dialogue from the book, and try and help you feel your way through the dark halls of their psyche.
If you get stuck, my advice, though, is go with it. It's your character, so play it how you want.
We're still waiting on a few pilgrims to mosey on over, and I'll be at working at 1 AM central time, so this first round will be a bit longer than initially stated. I also want to try and get the write up back to mid-dayish.
Once we get through this initial round, expect the 48/24 round to be pretty concrete.

The degenerated youth of today would deny a paying gentlemen his opium fixation? :whip:

Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
Nothing from Tiberius yet.
Where is that scoundrel. Have any of you checked the opium parlours?
If he aint coming, we might as well leave without him.

Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
I was wondering if everyone had a vote against them, whether the game might be decided by the end of the first day in one big royal rumble shootout :laugh4:

Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
OK, is this what happens when the sharpest one in the saloon goes for a night of hitting the sauce? The tally wasn't updated, the names were misspelled or abbreviated, and Sarathos had two different entries for him! :laugh4:

This round will be ending shortly. If anyone wants to make a final statement, or change their vote, now would be the time.
Round is over, write up coming.

Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
End of Day 1
The day had neared it’s end. Throughout it, members of the “Johnson Family” had arrived. An old hotel outside of town, once nearly always empty and run down, was functioning as their meeting point. The old building had been returned, temporarily, to life. There was plenty of booze, and even a few loose women were flaunting their goods.
One of these criminal types had begun to feel a strange itchy sensation in his lower region.
The disappearance of St. Louis Frank, and the subsequent discovery that he had landed in jail had many in the group concerned. Many in the family had taken to voting in a vigilante fashion, and things weren’t going well for one of the late comers.

“Where you been Smiler?”
“Well, I just got in off the local line,” replied the young thief who always seemed up beat, with a big smile on his face.
“Seems to me I thought I saw you wanderin’ around town these last few days.”
“No, you got me mistaken with someone else. I really just got off the line from Stew Junction. First place I been to, since I lef the yard.”
“Hunh. I says yous a lia’. And I bet your lyin’ because you ain’t playing us straight.”
“I’m playin’ ya’ straight.! I’m playin’ ya’ straight! I came in here looking for you know who, so’s that I can pawn off these gold watches I pinched from a jewelry store.”
“I says you’re a lyin’ dog! And I don’t wanna hear no more of your barking.”
A couple cannons come out from beneath a jacket, and thunder rolls low to the ground.
Smiler grabs his chest, and falls forward, still smiling.
Sarathos, Aka. “Smiler” is Lynched.

Begin Night 1
Please send in any night actions. If they all come in promptly, I'll end it in the usual 24 hour cycle.
Also, if you still have any questions please ask.

Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
Poor fellow. Soon as he appears he is lynched.
Rest in peace Sarathos
-
Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
Snap! Lynched first round. Well I guess it was for a good reason.....wait, no it wasn't.....
-
Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
Would that day would come soon, I will actually be able to vote.
Sucks that I am here during night time. You paranoid peoples will likely kill me.

Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
Yoyoma... if you have all your night actions, could you have mercy on me and start day phase? I'd love to vote but I've been here since the early mornin!

First round votes are always random, somebody had to get lynched. There was 0.0769230769 % chance that you were the mafia, so it was reasonable enought... to a degree.

Are you sure of your calculations? Maybe my brain is getting a little rusty after all, don't get much mental maths tests after SATs.

Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
Caius is WOG bait at this point... I am curious where he's been.
Oh by the way... I found something interesting about this game. I don't know if I should reveal it here. (No Yoyoma, it's not that.)

Pizza, however much you may admire me, I am no god, nor do I have designs on his/her/its job.
I am a very flawed man, and that is all I shall ever be.
The Wrath Of A Flawed Man, WOA-FM, is far smaller that The Wrath Of God, WOG.

I'm as good as dead, aren't I?

Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
Sigh... if only I were more patient. :wall:
I am warning the cop, though. I can reveal who you are if you try to arrest me. So go ahead and try it, pal.
-
Re: You Can't Win-Small Game (sign ups)
I'll try to do this in-character.
Here's some of the gossip I was spreadin', but it's something you might think to yourselves anyway if you just took a look!
Quote:
You may also Vote: Abstain and Vote: No Lynch. If dead people are distracting you, you can even vote them again. Heck, if you want to vote for a squirrel, I'll even add that to the tally. Maybe you'll end up with something nice in your mulligan stew.
Feel free to post cordially, but please, no dead detectives. You will have been neutralized, please remain neutral... There may even be roles that affect you. Besides, everyone deserves the right to win You Can't Win, even your enemy.
What I'm saying is that Providence has shown me the path, and that the devil among us can harm us from beyond the grave. I could be wrong about my revelation, but it makes no sense that our Lord would show us something if he didn't intend us to have a look. And I heard gossip in private that seemed to confirm my suspicions, from one of us here mortals.
You may also want to know that I don't pledge allegiance to either flag, either the "rebel" or the "union", so to speak. And by telling you what the Lord has revealed to me, I am a marked woman. I have no ability to defend myself in a shootout because I'm bad with guns, and I can only choose a gentleman champion to take my place, but some of you won't defend a lady and I'll end up dead, just like in the book.
The sheriff cannot stop my... business activities... without revealing himself to y'all. As such, I can reveal this information to you. Because I follow no flag, I am just trying to survive, that's all I ask of you, and you can even send your men to check my story.
All I ask is that you let me live in peace.
There is another side to my story... If you don't let me live in peace, I will be forced to choose to align myself with the law man, just to survive. As I said you can confirm all this independently.
That's my story, and I know it sounds strange. But if I am to live to see the end of these days, I am more or less forced to reveal the whole truth. I may be wrong about the top part, people killing after dying and such, but I know myself and I know that that is the gospel truth.
Will you let me continue living and loving like a lady like me should, or will you condemn me to the jail force me to turn snitch? The choice is out of my hands. At present, I trust you with my life more than I trust these law men.
