Anyway, will get easier vs KC. :D
I missed today's game because of Fox's idiotic black out policy. (Pay $160 for a season of baseball and they still manage to screw me out of games here and there. F you, Fox.)
One good thing about the Yanks beating up the other Sox is that maybe we can get home cooking through out the play-offs, assuming all goes well. I'll never understand why Theo didn't make a good bullpen acquisition before the dead line. The Sox have a ton of great young prospects and something could've been done. (wishing we had Billy Wagner here)
Anyway, I'm a little tipsy and starting to ramble (hijack). I'm just kinda psyched to see another Sox fan from across the pond.

Ice hockey is the best team sport.

Re: we are going to settle this
I still maintain that Australian rules Watergolfhangrugbybuzkashi would be the best team sport and spectator sport.

If you want a great game, check out Hurling by the way. Its Europe's oldest field game (the Celts brought it to Ireland at least 2000 yeasr ago), and also the fastest in the world. Its basically two teams of 15 crazy Celts armed with large weapon-like devices known as Hurleys and a hard hockey-like ball known as a sliothar, running around a large field beating the living hell out of each other. Your not meant to hit the other guy with your Hurl, only tackle him, but its pretty common, and these guys often dont even wear helmets, hard as nails. There are two goals at either end. A ball over the cross-bar gets one point, under the cross btsar is a goal and that counts as three poin. A player can not carry the ball more than 4 paces, having then to balance it on the stick or pass it. You should give it a watch, its really great. As is Gaelic football! ~:)
shinty and hurling are one and the same, shinty is just the Scottish name for it, and the sticks are called camans in shinty, methinks. I enjoyed watching Donegal try to get to the Gaelic football Ulster final last year, it was a good game.

God i hate Fox's baseball coverage. Every time I hear Tim McCarver blatter on like he was the greatest player ever and knows everything, it makes me want to scream. Joe Buck sucks too, his Dad was sooo much better.

McCarver is an ass. All his fawning over Jeter makes me sick.

Real football for me... also known as "soccer" I rather enjoy Cricket too.
American football appears to be rugby in suits of armour. Do they actually kick the ball? I know you can rush and pass... but do they ever kick the ball... with their feet?
Baseball; we have a game a bit like baseball here in England, it's called "rounders"... children play it. How many countries compete in the world series out of interest?

Re: we are going to settle this
Do any of you know what is the most popular proffessional sport? That is the most watched?

Re: we are going to settle this
NASCAR........... :embarassed:

I would say yes, is there another way to look at the subject. And it's football btw.

I have never heard of anyone kicking the ball with any other portion of their anatomy. Might pay extra depending on the view....
Serious answer is, yes, though it is restricted, in practice, to no more than 1 play in 4, mostly for changing possession of the ball.

Baseball is an adult game, though childishness is quite prevalent. Moreover, one could argue that no country competes in the world series out of interest, but rather for contractual reasons.
Serious answer is that the 3 predominant professional leagues are located in the USA, Canada, and Japan. Players competing for those teams come from many countries, representing most of North America, the Carribean, and Japan. Moreover Gonz, if you can throw a 96 MPH fastball and an 82MPH slider with reasonable accuracy using the same motion, I'll have you playing in the Bigs no later than next September -- and I'll only charge you 3% to serve as your agent (I'm not greedy ~:) ).

If your teams any good its used more often to kick off or score points. Remember generally their are two kicking plays after every touchdown.

Wrong.
Its auto racing. And by a wide margin I might add. Geez how many proffessional racing organizations are there in the US alone? Im sure Brtain and most of Europe have many also. I dont know about there but here even the small quarter mile tracks have proffesional races on them like Nascar Modifieds. Also a big race can draw 250000 people into the stands. No other sport can touch that.

Re: we are going to settle this
Perhaps you're right, but football is the most played of all the games. So i still say is the more popular, because it's the most appealing to the people, the populis. Is the cheapest game that i know, you only need to rocks, an plain surfice where to play and a ball made of something, simple as that. And more important it's fun.
And also you're considering car racing as a whole, while most people sparate it into specific types of racing, while football is the same in all places of the world, except for USA i think, they have some strange rules there. ~
"El automovilismo desplaza al ciclismo y a las motos y se convierte en el segundo deporte más visto en TV, tras el fútbol"
Heading of an article in this link on a spanish web site. Translation:
"The automovilism (as a whole) displaced ciclism and motos and turns into the second sport most saw in TV, under football." ~D :duel:

Re: we are going to settle this
Is it fair to class motor sport as one sport? I mean, if we are going to do that, why dont we take ball games as a category? Formula1, drag racing, superbikes or Nascar etc... are very different sports, and cant really be classed as one.
-
Re: we are going to settle this
According to the good patrons of this site Soccer is 113% better than American "football" and 540% better than Baseball.
Just wanted to point out the statistics of subjectivity. ~

Not motor sports but auto racing.

Re: we are going to settle this
Rugby. And don't go telling me you need to be of a certain size, that's bullocks. My friend is an first XV full back at 5'1'' and he's good at his job, most of the backs are 5'3'' and we won the middlesex cup. Ok, one of the backs was this person who we all reckon is on steroids...
I'm a flanker and I'm not exactly big by any means whatsoever.
I think you need more stamina for rugby than American Football, less stoppages to my knowledge. Also, let's just say I've accompannied enough people to hospital to say that it is pretty much war in a maul against people larger than yourself (which will happen unless you're pretty tall indeed.) Rules are mroe strictly enforced at scoolboy level but unfortunately scrums collapse much more.
So how was ''football'' better than the real deal again?

Trivia time.
Which country won the last Olympic gold medal in Rugby? The last two, as a matter of fact. ~D
