incidently before the ionians were conqueored Samos beat a Persian army in battle :2thumbsup:

public beta will be released after summer only (if everything goes fine)
..now its closed beta because the game just isnt completed yet (though the progress is considerable advanced)

Apologies for not reading through all threads and information (actually, I have read a very minimal amount). However, I am just wondering how you are doing the phalanx formation? Which, obviously, is not a feature of Barbarian Invasion.

No apologies needed Monarch. We are currently testing 3 different animation/formation combinations for the hoplites. (sorry, you won't see any RTW phalanx here...)
As to which will make it into the game ? We'll just have to wait and see... hehe...

Coding is advancing slowly but it is gettin there
phalanx is still causing a few problems as its a pain in the .... well you know where
Couple of Team members on holiday or absent for another reason atm
Ellysian Warrior and Snevets have done a bit of work on officer models recently
Im going through the textures in the team build to see any that need major alterations, minor fixes etc
Striker and Dagger and uranos have been fiddling with the code (i dont understand coding so couldnt tell exactly what they've been upto)

i've got a question about some possible units, i've seen this corinthian helmet in a history friend of mine and i loved it at first sight...is there any unit in this mod with a similar shield? i loved cuz i was so diferent from the other opened ones, this one looks like a bucket..strange but atractive at the same time..

we do have some of that type of Corinthian in this mod if you look at the Croton preview some of their units use this type

Man I've checking this mods progress for the past 4 months and I am waiting ever paitently.... Don't rush it guys, its better to wait and have an AWESOME product.
Just one question:
-Are there going to be Itialic Tribes besides the Etruscans? Like the Samnites for example.
I see the map covers a good part of central Italy, thats why I wondered.

faction space is limited so the Etruscans are the only Italic Tribe faction but others will be present as Rebels, if you are worried campaigns in italy may be dull bear in mind Croton and Taras are in the South Syracuse and Carthage are on Sicily. Plus the prescense of Gallic units in the north should keep it fun :)

As we get further with this mod we have less time to donate to things such as a complete faction previews but we are well aware that people like to see that we are both making progress and also they like to see pictures of units. With this in mind we have decided to move to the warriors from indepedant cities of which we will release a new one every week with some extras inserted from time to time.
These warriors will be recruitable by factions who hold the correct city and have the appropriate structures.
