Spectacular! Really nice work here. The only thing missing would be a little map showing the provinces where each unit can be recruited. I doubt we could work out the size/clarity differential and STILL have it fit on the card, though.

That's a great idea. A possible way to implement it would be to just put it right on the back. Using the whole backside as a map, you could pretty much fit whatever you'd need. I'd love to see it.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
I would be willing to give this a try (the backside 'might' just work) but it will be an awful lot of work. It is already fairly hard to find the MIC level of all the units (some are easier than others of course, but they usually require playing the game for a while - and no, I am not even trying to decipher the export_desc_buildings! :dizzy2: ). Finding the recruitable areas for every unit for every faction would take months and I guess it is also likely to change in the future builds.
Still, I am not dismissing the idea outright ...

We do have a recruitment mapping tool for internal use, and that would eliminate 90% of the "work" (i.e the research). We might be able to do something for you in that regard. Let me talk this over with the team.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
BTW Arkatreides, we really like your work!

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Very good job. I love them. ~:)

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Now all we need is someone to make rules to use these in a card game.
-
Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Wow great idea. And superb job on the cards.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Thanks for the support guys. I means a lot to me (and my motivation) that people are enjoying them as much as I enjoy making them.
Here is Macedonia redone btw:

and the common Western Greek (i.e. available to Epeiros, Koinon Hellenon and Macedonia) units:

Just hopping in to tell I really like your work, Arkatreides.
I'm not much of a poster, more a lurker, and I check this thread almost daily!

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
arkaatreide is it possible to make some further cards for other steppe cavallery, for example Daha Rog Baexdzhyn Aefsad, im very curious to compare the stats like number of javelins, secondary axe, range etc. with other steppes skirmishers cavallry. Thanks!
PS if you dont mind suggestions, i dont like very much how it fit the pahlava symbol on the green background, it looks a bit too bright, and the Violet color of the Griffon symbol, clashes bad against the Green of the Background. Anyway just a very minor think.

Yes, I know that. As I said somewhere above, the green is there by mistake, I did some of the cards on my laptop and the colours came across differently when I printed them out. I have since gone for a more yellow shade which works much better. Have a look:

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Looks much better now, only the pahlava symbol is a bit too bright, have you tryied to keep it as it is, without changing the brighteness, and just operating on the trasparency (making it very trasparent)?
but it's a minor think as i sayd, your work is excellent.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Could you upload everything in a rar archive when they are all finished in order to download and print them all at once. Thanks
-
Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
EB could probably host a .rar for it once it's done. Not 100% sure, but I think it could probably work.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
These are fantastic, makes the standard RTW Strategy Guide look like a pile of crap!
I can just see EB trading cards appearing in newsagents now, £2.50 for a pack of ten. You could include armour upgrades, eg. Light Chain Mail, +2 armour to units with scale mail armour. Then once everyone gets bored with the original cards, you can bring out a new set, say an Indian factions expansion!:laugh4:

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
LOL @ Caledonian Rhyfelwyr! Got to make sure that those MIC 5 units are ultra-rare so that you have to buy at least 297 packs in order to get one and get about a thousand Hoplitai Haploi in the process!
Anyway, here is the first Nomadic set:
https://img403.imageshack.us/img403/...tae1ce5.th.jpg
Not sure what to do about the MIC levels though - maybe someone who played the nomadic factions for a while can give me some advise on what the like to see - maybe an indication of whether it is a Nomadic or Pastoral unit and which level of camp/court/settlement/herd it comes from?

Always check the first post, that has the most up-to-date cards.

I must just post here - in this non-modding thread (yes, I do that sometimes) - and say what a great idea this is. Kudos to you!
The cards look great.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Here are the Getai.
https://img265.imageshack.us/img265/...tai1ir6.th.jpg
As I mentioned before, the 'Barbarian' background is a bit of a nightmare to deal with as it is too dark to show the text. One of the reasons there hasn't been an update in days was that every attempt to make a card that is both aesthetically pleasing and readable failed for a very long time. They either were too dark or too bright (ranging from psychedelic green to bile yellow) and washed out in colours until I came up with a trick to create this nice natural woody background. I hope you enjoy it!
The Sweboz have also been redone:

I think this thread deserves to be stickied!
BTW, sorry we haven't hooked up yet for that map system training, but this has just been an insane workweek....well beyond 40 hours and Thursday and Friday are still beckoning like snaggle-toothed hags. (Oh, and the program will answer your MIC-Level questions, too.)

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Thanks for the sticky, Kull!
Here are some celtic units - due to their similarity I bundled the Casse, Aedui and Arverni together, hence the 3 shields on the background. I also included the reform levels in the subtitle - might move this over to an icon at some later point. Also the flag icon on the Cwmyr represent their 'command' ability to inspire nearby troops.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Looks great, though I did notice something that I suspect is a typo. On the Komatai Agrianai card it says spear were it should say sword, unless there's suddenly spears around with a lethality of .225.
