Strategy: Blitz
Current Priority: EXECUTE PLAN X
Hmm .. turtle needs much more time to create a strong empire that could fight against blitzer...
if a blitzer will play ase mongols or timurids then the turtle have a LOT of time to prepare his empire against the blitzer .. and that would be a challenge!!
I would volunteer to take control of the Mongol Horde, under the following conditions:
The first and second waves of Mongols must arrive and remain untouched.
The player controlled faction must not control Russia, Iraq/Syria, or Egypt (thus giving me space to move)
Under those conditions, I would be willing to take over as the Mongols and fight anyone. I would still likely lose unless my insane amount of debt was covered by an amount equal to my horde's upkeep until I had settled on the map as a faction.
Or, even though I would lose, I could still play. I'm not a coward. I think I even know how to do it:
I would begin a game as the faction of your choosing, enable hotseat, enable console only for myself, and allow the player to control the game for the first 80-100 turns.
Then when the first and second waves of Mongol troops have arrived, I will set the Mongol faction to player control using the console, and I will change my budget by adding a sum equal to whatever amount I am in debt every turn.
I will not use it to gain a single florin besides what I owe, so I cannot gift myself money to build anything.
Those are the conditions, I will play as the Mongol horde.

Greetings, noble leader of the infidels.
I am Khushqadam Arslan, master of the armies of Jihad who have landed in Normandy to wage Holy war against the infidel. We came from the north sea on mercenary ships, and we have hired an entire horde of mercenary spearmen and crossbowmen to invade the heart of your territory. We find your defenses entirely inadequate to face us, and we have many, many armies of reinforcements coming.
Prepare to do battle, so-called King of France!
Warmest regards,

Happenings: Spotted Crusader armies outside Sofia. They sure are taking their sweet time getting here. Declared war on Milan. Beseiged Bordeaux, Lisbon, Genoa. Assembling the horde to repel the infidel invaders.
I can't help but feel that my uninvited guests in France got the cold shoulder. We didn't experience a very warm welcome from the French, who simply ignored us instead of attempting to wipe us out.
It is of no concern. Soon the French will be crushed and young Skywalker will be one of us. Your work here is finished, my friend; go out to the command ship and await my orders.

Ah, what a fine thread!
I love the smell of turtle soup in the morning! :smash:
ATPG, if you fancy a different challenge, I will take up your offer to face the ATPG horde.
What I propose is Vanilla 1.3 vh/vh.
Grog: England
ATPG: Mongols
As this thread has shown, the pure blitzer will always defeat the pure turtle 1v1. However, most people play as moderate expansionists, so my rule-set will be as follows:
England - Chivalry based expansionism.
My Houserules:
-Max rep expansionism.
-No starting wars against AI other than rebels. I can only crusade rebels or factions that attack me
-occupy/release
-passive spies/no assassins
-VH setting to stop me getting too much diplomatic cheese.
-no direct aggression vs Mongols until you attack English land.
Your houserules:
-kill them, KILL THEM ALL!
In your favour I have had a four month break from M2TW. So feel free to send me a Mongol enabled game if this challenge appeals or pm me/post here to iron out the details.
On a side note, how are you finding vanilla blitzing with the islamic factions? Think you could better your 28 turn HRE total domination with turks/egypt? :egypt:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Upon the sight of Grog entering the thread, the mighty and awesome Askthepizzaguy kneels with solemn respect. Noticing that no one else is showing the proper respect, Askthepizzaguy whips off his golden mask, revealing the hideously deformed and scarred flesh beneath, and gives everyone here the most icy stare.
Doesn't everyone here know who this is??? This is the man who, after my reign of nearly 9 months of total domination as Blitzmaster, shattered my record to tiny splintering pieces, forcing me to cut my own record in half.
Askthepizzaguy rises and grants his former master a warm handshake with respect, but then grins; Didn't I take your severed head and fling it at FactionHeir during the 2007 Org awards?
:laugh4:
I trust YOU will give me a most thorough beating, yes? With crusades on your side, there is no way that the Mongols could defeat you. I wouldn't be able to create an Imam with 4 piety quick enough.
That being said...
Askthepizzaguy reaches inside his cloak... a flash of light accompanies the hum of a red lightsaber being drawn.
My powers have doubled since the last time we met, Grog. Before, I was but the learner, now I am the master.
I look forward to completing your training... in time you will call me... master...Quote:

ATPG versus Grog
House rules matchup; Mongols versus England
Limitations on England:
-Max rep expansionism.
-No starting wars against AI other than rebels. Can only crusade rebels or factions that attack me.
-occupy/release
-passive spies/no assassins
-VH setting to stop me getting too much diplomatic cheese.
-no direct aggression vs Mongols until you attack English land.
Limitations on Mongols:
-Does not become player controlled until they arrive on the campaign map.
-Will be granted florins via console in the amount equal to what they are in debt every turn, until I have conquered myself a Khanate comparable to England's empire, then I am on my own.
-As a horde faction, taking my final province is useless. You must defeat all my forces.
Proposed mod; Lands to Conquer 3.1
http://www.mizus.com/files/pbm/Grog-1.zip You're up. Try not to annihilate the ENTIRE map before I get there, yes? Remember, leave Russia, Turkey, and Egypt alone.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Heh, we could use LTC as you suggest, will be first time I have played it so..
I proposed the initial rules for myself under vanilla to prevent too much expansionism etc, plus makes control of islamic/orthodox lands trickier/more time consuming.(ie: no extermination) Coupled with non aggression vs catholic neutrals would make a smaller empire than you think.
However, I will accept your challenge with the above houserules on LTC, just let me get it downloaded and have a play with it etc. I will see Mongol troops on English soil as a direct act of war now though, as opposed to waiting for you to attack :inquisitive:
Also, is that save gtg? do I just play until first mongol stacks pop then hand the save to you?
Up to you when you attack though isn't it? So feel free to get Jihad-ready before entering English lands...Quote:
I trust YOU will give me a most thorough beating, yes? With crusades on your side, there is no way that the Mongols could defeat you. I wouldn't be able to create an Imam with 4 piety quick enough.

Ignoramus: I'm ready to finish this war whenever you are...
Interesting moves, withdrawing from your territories south without a fight, granting land to the Pope, not taking on England. You've certainly thrown some surprises my way.
But the hour of reckoning us upon us. By now you must know your father can never be turned from the dark side.
Perhaps you refer to the imminent attack by your crusader troops? It was I who allowed the French to know the location of the shield generator. It is quite safe from your pitiful little band. I've got the entire horde of Caliphate mercenaries, minus those I couldn't recruit because I have too many mercenaries. And Samarra is under seige. Unless I was dreaming.
Nah you do, unless there is another way to turn a general into a full stack in just one turn...
I'm turning a general into TWO stacks in TWO turns, my friend...
I just took Samarra, killed An-Nasir, wiped out his main defensive army, and I march on Baghdad right... now...

ATPG versus Elite Ferret, BC 1.5 with hotfixes

Turn 19
Strategy: Surely you don't think I'd reveal THAT to you...
Priority: Taking on the Ayyubids.
Baghdad has fallen. Another 3000 florins per turn has been added to the collective. Also, I have a hellish army being recruited now. I spent all 50,000 florins.
The Caliph and his heir have been wiped out, so have Samarra and Baghdad been taken for the glory of the Empire. Their distinctiveness will be added to our own. The resources obtained here will double the size of our forces.
Soon, they will join us. Sadly, my second stack lost so many troops I'm back down to one full stack after all the fighting.
ATPG versus Elite Ferret, BC 1.5 with hotfixes

Turn 20
Strategy: Blitzer
Priority: Destroying neighboring states
Military: We are poised to take two Abassid settlements next turn, and at least one Ayyubid settlement, also we are about to declare war on Armenia again and wipe them out. The Latins will be next, and if all goes well, we will destroy the Ayyubids too.
We are preparing a nasty horde of troops for our foes in the far east. Hama taken this turn.
Mercenary recruitment: Only the finest!
Garrison recruitment: Some!
Agents: Yes
Diplomacy: trade rights with Ghorids. Why? I don't know. Maybe I plan to be their neighbors someday soon.

Turn 11.
Strategy: Mixed build and blitz.
Current Priority: Mop-up Ayyubids.
I've laid the groundwork for the Ayyubids destruction. Salahuddin and his heir, the crown prince are hold up in their last two cities. By next turn they should be completely destroyed, if not then by turn 13 they will without a doubt be gone.
The eyes of Jerusalem look to the north and a shadow of fear descends upon the rebel held borderlands...

Looks like the Ayyubids still had some fight left in them, they are down to their last province but not out. Two rebuilt stacks are on their way to finish the fight, Reymond de Tripoli is on his way to Hama now to continue expansionist efforts in the north while Baldwin and Reynold de Chatilon continue the war against the Ayyubids in the south.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 13
Strategy: Blitzy blitz
Current Priority: Destroy India and Ghazni
Events: Took HUGE RISKS with my forces this turn... I have a stack beseiging Delhi, which has a huge garrison, I have a half stack vulnerable to Solanki Rajput forces seiging a settlement, I have three stacks en prise from Ghazni forces which are double stacked at their capital, I have a half stack taking on a full stack of Omani forces while I'm not there to command them...
OUCH... hope the gamble pays off next turn...
ATPG vs Flax. Vanilla 1.3

Turn 5
Strategy: Kill
Current priority: Destroy England
Beseiged Nottingham. We spied a half stack of English troops hiding near the castle, a small garrison inside, and a half stack at sea. We are wide open to be destroyed, but sometimes you have to take risks, boys and girls.
Let this be our final battle, Scotland and England... to the death...
ATPG vs Flax. Vanilla 1.3
Scotland vs England
Turn 6
Strategy: Kill
Current priority: Force surrender of England
The scattered English forces were repelled a second time, this time they scurry towards their capital as we advance. Their ship was knocked away from Scottish waters, their forces a fraction of what they once were, ours intact.
Interestingly, the AI repelled the English... I can't claim credit, except for assembling the force and beseiging Nottingham, which forced a response.
Thanks be to TheFlax for agreeing to the duel.
Graphs still indicate that England is equal in power to Scotland, so I cannot accept surrender this turn.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 14
Strategy: Mixed build and blitz
Current Priority: Recover and keep on marching.
Hama has fallen, I'm looking to take Aleppo the next turn or maybe Antioch. In the south my two stacks are starring down Salahhudin, He's got a lot of forces and I need to force the end game soon so I can focus my attentions north.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 15
Strategy: Total Annihilation
Current Priority: Ghazni
3 stacks surround Ghazni, their garrison has been scripted to the max. Fortunately they had relatively bad troops (I say relatively because Persian Daylami heavy infantry spam isn't bad at all... they are just of the freshly recruited variety... 15 defense spammed infantry isnt a pushover...) and they could only fit 4 units of satanic spawn with bronze and silver experience.
I have two ganging their free roaming stack, which will perish next turn for a 3-on-1 assault on the 15000 population Persian fortress. Delhi remains under seige, more seige forces en route... Oman's northern province sacked, Indian rebel province sacked, forces being recruited.
This gambit is working, but it's costing a fortune in troops and upkeep.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 15
Strategy: Mixed build and blitz
Current Priority: Destroy all who stand in the way.
Antioch under siege! War has broken out between Jerusalem and Armenia. Armenia besieged Antioch but were thrown back from the walls.. weakening the garrison by a full 3/4. When Armenia redrew their siege lines they found an Army of Jerusalem come to knock them out of the way :laugh2:
Salahuddin was defeated outside his capital in a river battle. The remaining troops appear to be militia grade, so i've moved to besiege (didn't have a choice, was caught in the city's zone of control.) This looks to be the end for the Ayyubids, but I am unsure, I was in this position two turns ago and they surprised me.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 15
Strategy: Total Annihilation
Current Priority: Rajputs
Annihilated the garrison at Ghazni, and their wandering stack, entirely. There were no survivors from the 1800+ troops they had defending thier fortress.
Annihilated the Chauhan Rajputs, took Delhi. Beseiged Solanki Rajput city, Muscat rebel city, final Persian city.
And so ends any hope of Persian or Chauhan resistance. The Omans are crippled and the Hindu Rajputs are being exterminated.
Lights out for the eastern half of the map...
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 16
Strategy: Mixed build and blitz
Current Priority: Destroy all who stand in the way.
Antioch and Qahira both have been captured by Crusader forces giving Jerusalem 30,000+ in pillaging money alone. The Ayyubid Dynasty is all but destroyed with the death of the Great Salahuddin, now nothing stands in the way of Jerusalem's further expansion.
Nearly all of the money was used to build knightly orders all around the Kingdom, soon Jerusalem's armies will be supported by the powerful Templars and the Knights of St. John. Not to mention the formation of new armies ready to carry the word of Christ far into the infidel's lands to the north and east, all who share a border with Jerusalem look to their new neighbor with concern. All shall soon bend a knee to the great King Baldwin.
God wills it!
I do not tremble before Baldwin. I am eager to smash the infidel's head with my mace, and fling his broken body, set ablaze, into the middle of his own troops with my mighty trebuchets.
With his stinking, burning corpse splattered in front of his men, I assume they will run and hide in fear. Of course, if the fools choose to stay, my horde of armoured war elephants and Ghulam heavy lancers, Persian Horse Archers, and my endless axe-wielding Ghazis will teach them a lesson they will have to bring with them to the afterlife, may they burn in hell.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 16
Strategy: Annihilate remaining resistance in the East.
Current Priority: Destroy all who stand in the way.
We have taken what we thought was the Ghazni's last city, but they've taken another, and are about to die again. We have taken more settlements and we are beyond rich. We've invested that money in our future, but I won't reveal how.
May Allah turn his eyes from our foes, for the manner in which they are about to die is too terrible for the eyes of the Most Holy One.
You speak words that are larger than your stature, infidel. Far larger. It was not so long ago that we found ourselves surrounded and outnumbered by the hordes of the Ayyubid Dynasty, and where did that find them? Destroyed and defeated is where! Regulated to a now footnote of history is where! The great armies of the crusade shall carry the cross deep into your homelands, we shall plant our banners in triumph atop your citadel towers and drive your forces back into the hovels from which you levied them!
None can stand before us, not the Romans, not the Seljuks, and certainly not you infidel.. and when you see the glittering tips of our spears as they come down in a most holy charge you shall know your place in this world shortly before your death.

A time of rebuilding and the catching of breath is what the Kingdom of Jerusalem finds itself in. Many lives were lost in the war against the Ayyubids and if the future wars of conquest are to be financed more ports and infrastructure must be built.

It is very amusing to hear your threats, Crusader. While you struggle with the inferior forces of Saladin (how could anyone possibly lose against them anyway?) We have destroyed not one, not two, but three empires, and two more are about to fall!
It would impress me however if you should destroy the Turks or the Romans as you claim, because even now they outnumber you with superior forces. Destroy them, and you will have earned the Ghorid's respect.
Destroy them not, and you may find yourself conquered before breakfast. I see little point in exchanging threats with you, infidel. Allah will show you the true path. Our armies will trample yours in due time, and when all the dust has settled, all the smoke has cleared, and the millions...
pregnant pause
...and millions of the Faithful are done chanting Allah's name, the Hindus will still be conquered, the Persians will still be our vassals, and you Westerners will know a new definition of pain and suffering, and we will still be masters of the Broken Crescent.
When your soldiers are lying in the desert sands with their throats cut open, when your little castles lay in ruin, when your villiages are burnt to the ground, when your children are sold into slavery and I personally take your women, and what remains of your royal family pledges undying loyalty to their rightful master the Ghorid Sultan, I will accept your apology.
That is, if you don't wind up impaled upon my lance or a stain on the bottom of my elephants' foot first.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
We shall take our chances with your empty threats as we know you have no way of delivering upon them. You watch as we rip the heart from Armenia and then turn our attentions toward Constantinople. You shall see as we captured the ancient city, a feat not accomplished yet though many have tried and then you shall known with who you contend with.
You are in a losing position. You face not Baldwin, but the Legions he commands! Even if you defeat us on the field, scatter our forces and send our kingdom into disarray.. All we must do is call upon the west for aid and the fight shall be renewed.
Be careful of who you proclaim to be master of these lands, sultan, you shall find those who still draw breath may very well take issue with your bold and foolhardy ambition.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 18
Strategy: Mixed build and blitz
Current Priority: Destroy all who stand in the way.
Raymond de Tripoli fights a defense of Antioch against an Armenia push toward the city and wins easily. Scouts report Armenia is committing everything to the Antioch campaign, the land is ripe for conquest.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 18
Strategy: Hellish Blitz
Current Priority: Rajputs, Khwarezm, Oman, Seljuks, Abassids.
When the next 5 empires we face crumble before the might of our armies, we will no longer need words to strike fear into the faithless heart of the infidel.
Good words are wasted on these unbelievers anyway.
Destroyed Ghazni this turn. Rajputs on the ropes. Oman on the ropes. Khwarezm about to be exterminated.
Building a huge economy along the Sindhi river valley, and ports along the Indian ocean. Merchants aplenty are recruited.
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 19

Next: Invasion of Seljuk and Abassid lands.
With their destruction, Jerusalem will lose their final buffer zone between themselves and our massive horde. I plan to call a jihad against Jerusalem in the next several turns.
Go ahead and invade Rome... you will die before Constantinople falls....

ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 20
Strategy: Mixed build and Blitz
Current Priority: Concentrate efforts.
Took a gamble, if it worked Armenia would have been destroyed, if it failed my northern army would be obliterated. It failed. Armenia is digging in for a vicious war, looks like I can't end this quickly and Am mobilizing the proper response to the death of Raymond de Tripoli. :embarassed:
I'm looking to keep my border strong with the news of a possible Jihad, but I'm not going to flinch as I did in the Georgia game.
Monk Vs Elite Ferret. Stainless Steel 6.1
Aragon against the Moors.
Turn 5.
Strategy: Tech up and blitz
Current priority: Lock down rebels.
Valencia was a tough shell to crack, El Cid was a monster but we've secured the city. Trying to decide where to go, I don't have to worry about the blitz too much with the low movement pts in SS as I do in BC, but I'm still weary of EF. Not sure what he's got in planning. :skull:
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 20
Strategy: Blitz from hell
Current Priority: Eliminating Khwarezm and Oman
The Rajputs have been annihilated. Khwarezm is losing provinces left and right, their main forces about to be smashed. Oman is almost destroyed. The Abassids are being targeted next for extermination.
Nearly 30,000 pillaging florins this turn, all spent. The Ghorid Empire will never yield.

Damascus has fallen, Baalbeck has fallen, Seleukea is about to fall, the Armenian capital is under threat, Jerusalem is under threat, massing huge forces, Heraklea is about to fall...
Looks like this is the "official hotseat duel thread" ..
If someone could explain me how to sent those files to each other(by e-mail or downloading them somewhere?) then I could challenge anyone who is interested. I play vanilla v1.3 only. ~:)
ATPG vs Monk. BC 1.05 with hotfixes.
Ghorid against Jerusalem.
Turn 21
Strategy: Mixed build and Blitz
Current Priority: Show Armenia the meaning of pain.
Prince Guy, the Hero of the North, fights a terrible battle outside of Antioch and completely defeats and slaughters an Armenian force twice the size of his own. Reports indicate nearly the entire Armenian army is routed, Reinforcements land and besiege Adana as prince guy moves in from the East.
Armenia is caught in a pincer.
I and my duel opponents agreed to use our email to send the saves, ATPG and I have also used MSN to send saves back and forth, both work pretty well.:yes:Quote:

ATPG will probably know more (or anyone else) but i'm here so I will answer :). BY email you just attach your save, extract to your save folder. Not too sure how you set up a hotseat myself.
Alternatively, the org has an uploader, just search for it in the throne room.
It's best of make the save a .rar or .zip file since it compresses it.
I challenge you Ibn. Send an email to askthepizzaguy@yahoo.com

Tarsus and Adana have both been sacked by Crusader forces. It would seem ATPG's trade rights may have been for naught, Armenia may be dead very shortly! Prince guy moves toward the great citadel of Sis which has a full garrison.

ATPG versus Flax, Vanilla 1.3

Concession last turn from England seemed premature. So I've asked Flax for a continuation. He's generously agreed to not make it so easy on me.
Turn 6:
He's gone after my capital and Caernarvon. Yay... aggression...
Your hate has made you powerful. Strike me down with all of your anger, and your journey towards the dark side will be complete.

Oman versus Jerusalem
Turn 5
Strategy: Try not to die

Took another province. En Route to Firuzabad. Another spy recruited this turn. Building roads and ships.
Still far behind Jerusalem in development, obviously.
Hmmm ... wat happens if your army meets my army ? Autoresolve ? Or do we get to control our respective armies in battle ?
The attacker has the advantage of controlling the army.
So dont put your troops in a situation where they are about to be attacked and could lose to a human opponent. Also watch out, the computer can auto-resolve you without you being able to play defense.
Spies and forts enable the defender to play the attacker next turn, so they are necessary tactics. Also, you're up.
ATPG versus Flax, Vanilla 1.3
Scotland vs England
Turn 9
Nottingham remains Scottish, Caen and Angers are now Scottish, declared war on France. I'm a bad widdle boy.
I managed to decimate half of England's army with a few horsemen last turn. Maybe now they won't beseige Nottingham. Maybe they will.
ATPG versus Ibn-Khaldun, BC 1.5

ATPG versus Ibn-Khaldun, BC 1.5
Oman versus Jerusalem
Turn 11
Strategy: Piracy in the Indian Ocean
Priority: Abassids
Gave the Caliph something to complain about... Hillah has fallen, Wasit is under threat. The Abassid fleet is sunk, the independent pirates are being sunk, and Sur is under threat. We have doubled the size of our standing army to equal the rising forces of Jerusalem, and we are now beginning rapid expansion.
Our navy is now the finest in the known world, and our armed forces are more than a match for the crumbling Abassids. We have trade rights and maps from the Seljuks, and trade rights with Armenia.
Our invasion of Arabia is about to commence.
