ya ok i will soon gimme a few.
Ok guys, I'm back. A few things:
1. Holy crap Baen, I did not expect that massive wall of text in the Stories Thread! It'll take me hours to catch up if you always write that much!
2. Sorry for not editing my SOT Navarro, but for my roleplay purposes everything is still going OK right now. So, you moved Lucius/Roka to Taras(you said it somewhere)? Then my only other question is whether or not Roka can post in the forums right now.
3. Imminent Council session, right? I won't speak IC for roleplay reasons, but I would just like to now for future reference: do you have to actually travel to Roma for the council?
no you dont have to travel to Roma, you can just put
Legatus Joe Smith rode in weary from the long ride from Taras.
whatever
...signiture test...
wooo it works.
@navarro - haha Joe Smith.. how Roman
You know, Potocello, those stories are not critical to the game, they are a side line that helps to enjoy it and fill in the gaps that the gameplay does not allow for. Only read them if you want to, your not missing out on anything gamewise.
And you can see any new signatures on any of your posts, you dont need to post again to see them btw.
Oh good, I'm glad they are useful then. Potocello, I've changed my mind. Get reading! :clown:
@navarro - You really should change the 'Satrap' in the Rule 2.4 point 6. :beam:
Quote:
(6) Every Satrap will have an 8 unit Provincial Legion similar to a Standard Legion. Every Satrap should mention what type of Legion they wish: a) an Infantry legion(5 infantry, 2 missile, 1 cavalry regiment); b) a Cavalry Auxilla( 2 infantry, 2 missile, 4 cavalry regiments); c) or a Mixed Legion(3 infantry, 3 missile, 2 cavalry regiments). They can however get to recruit 1 local unit for every 2 Influence points and 1 local unit for every 3 Command stars. (The unit type of the additional units can be what ever the Satrap chooses)
my bad...in basing this game much off of yours these things happen lol changed now.
ok library is done lemme know wut ya guys think...also as far as ACT points go, i will update them AFTER the CC. thanks! off to bed for me now.
I don't think this should be said in the Senate thread (since it would ruin Cotta's plan and any further chance of role-playing the argument); I'm just posting it here to remind Baen that Cotta has already got two tribunes under his command, mjolnir and il_duce volunteered themselves as your tribunes already, unless you have not accepted them.
anyway I'll probably let Asina sit and see what happens to the argument, since it's starting to get a bit interesting.
Two reasons.
1: the actual decision about my new tribunes wont be until the legions finished
2: i thought the argument was carrying on a bit, so I thought people would start to get annoyed, but we can continue if you want...probably better to keep it and then we argue more often, making rivary more diverse
Just my opinion. Ibn's a fun argue buddy :laugh4:
Since Quintus is pessimistic nobile patrician then I roleplay him as a man who would oppose any plebeian. And because Cotta is young plebeian then Quintus will oppose anything he might say(even if he thinks the same way). :beam:
My character is quite intelligent, first he must be convinced going north :laugh4: We won't ruin the game, it's just more fun (and more historically accurate to roleplay rivalry among the senators :smash:
hmm, i have to ask your council. My Character is a "Plebeius" and at the same time he is a member op the "Gens Aemilius" (one of the noblest and oldest roman families) and also hes "nobile". Its quite contradictory. I will roleplay him as a Patricius, since he's an Aemilius and his name is his most conspicuous attribut.
Yeah thats right, abandon your beliefs, fool! Once again, I am the only Plebivs in the village, muahahhaha.......i feel lonely.
I think it would be nice if everybody would put their rank next to their name in their signature so we know who we're talking to.
i agree, i find myself flipping through the forums to find out who's who so i dont offend anyone in the senate thread.

Hahaha, this guy is a badass
haha indeed
You looking at me?
I said you looking at me?
I shoot you up mother ****er.
how do you know I'm looking at you, your eyes are closed! :clown:
They are not closed. They are glaring.
There is not a chin under my goatie, only another fist.
If I have 5 Mnai and you have 5 Mnai, Titus Maximus has more money.
but Asina has a balder head!
(oh no, Asina looks strangely similar to Titvs, with the balding, thepartially closedglaring eyes, sideburns and goatee :smash:)
No, there is only one Titus Valerius Maximus. You shall worship no false idol.
By the way it is all IC. Of course I am being awkward so you all I die and I become Emporor.
*Reads last few posts*
.....ok...Happy New Year people. I take it it's been midnight across the world by now. Everybody have a good new years? I almost did, but I spent the entire time from half 11 to seven in the morning looking after my mate, who had too much to drink and got a bit traumatic about the girl he loves...:help:
@ bean: thank you ^^ i had a nice and quite evening and no drunken mates *G*
Hope I didn't come off as insulting in that post SB. Just didn't understand what you meant. :clown:
....*holds head and sighs*
Never play a drinking game called flip cup....ouch in the head*
Happy new years guys...I think ill give the senate another day as last night i hope you guys could enjoy away from the comp....I know i did.
We still have an entire day of the original time. However, there seems to be a lack of other edicts in the Senate. I keep trying to steer the conversation towards new edicts, but i dont think people are taking the hint
I don't think people need to post OOC disclaimers that they're not actually mad at the other person. This is all IC role-playing and we understand that. In fact, it says this in the Rules and FAQ. This RP wouldn't be as fun if everybody agreed with everything everybody else says.
Also, I'm finally a member after 11 months. Hooray!
Congratulations :2thumbsup:
Wow. Really? I just asked TosaInu nicely and she said OK. Also, no offence Navarro but I think in terms of expansion we should try and not be totally historical. I mean if the Senate agrees to expand there fine but if you want to play this RP like that then I really don't think there is a point. Saying that though I am all for historical accuracy in ever other sense such as building, armies and recruitment. Just my two pennies.
we don't need to expand historically accurate, we write our own history. But we need to RP our history realisticly, that means not starting war with everyone etc.
Yes but Navarro said he didn't want to start war with Gaul and Carthage because historically the Romans didn't untill later on.
hm. well historically the romans did not even have a dictator at this time :beam:
But thats because to do it at that stage of their development would most likely have wiped them off them map...no ones going to commit their new found empire to suicide. We have two legions; we can't accurately declare war on Carthage or the Gauls, even if in the game they don't yet have huge armies.
This is more the angle i was going for. Im not saying we have to actually do it only in 264 (Carthage Wise), i'm simply saying with our military it is not even realistically or historically sound.
here, another example of what i mean. were talking so much of war here and war there and it just isn't practical lets be honest.
i completely agree, we should not create a Roma vs all game from the beginning. of course there will be war, but as it was in history we will discuss every military action first, and of course some senators will not agree and some will. this is what makes this game funny and interesting.
I think you all misunderstood as I misunderstood Navarro. I meant that we shouldn't not declare war just because of historical accuracy of expansion as I tohught Navarro meant but in the mannor you have all displayed.
I think that there would be more legislation proposals if Tribunus could propose them also.
At the moment most of us can only vote but that's it.
ya thats why i may end up ending this one at 1030 Pacific GMT now. I want to get more tribunes out there to serve out their two battles and become legatus.
isnt it kinda, 1044 PMT now?
I'm assuming 10.30pm British time so we've got another couple of hours yet.
He said Pacific specifically..though he also said GMT...mind boggling!
my bad i meant just GT as in Pacific global time. It is 11:01 right now here.
Ah OK, so do you mean in the morning or are you a bit late in cancelling?

Forgive me for the limits of modern technology but its sometimes hard to decipher sarcasm in written text. :book:
next time i'll write "pay attention: sarcasm" :laugh4:
when the pacific clock says 20:00 thats when :clown:
edit: also, if any of you really want a new legislation proposed or something to be discussed, go in deeper and IC PM the Legatus' or Consul's and gain some political friends. ;)
hey guys, i went ahead and changed the Battle Points Column in the library to Battles Served for the unaligned tribuni. Tribunus' will never really be commanding so they wont get BPs. But it will allow me to keep track of who is eligible for Legatus.
To speed up our military prowess and players involvment, Navarro, maybe we can have new legions being slowly but contantly created, and then when a tribune is promoted, we can simply give him command of that legion. The continuous recruiting can almost be off the books for roleplay reasons if that makes sense, so that we dont look like we are thinking ahead like this.
Ooh, and its almost 20:00 pacific!
FYI navarro I'm Tribunus Nero, not Il_Duce (check the voting thread) ;)
It's set on H/M actually, but yeah we should have new spots opening up all the time once things really get rolling.
No, the point is that you roleplay that we arent constantly making them, but its a lot better if we can just give legions to Legatus' when they rank up, rather than waiting to make them each time. We have a lot of tribunes and will only get more as more people join, theres gonna be a huge waiting list for legions if we're not careful
I already asked Navarro that a while back, but then we did only have one legion then, so I suppose he might be open the idea afresh.
happy voting guys. and Consul Asina (everyone..?) should i move my avatar to your units or will you just take me along to the north?
@^^^^ ya see this is why i originally didnt like the idea but i was thinking more 3 Rorarii 2 Levis, and the commanders as cav. But idk its gonna take time before i really decide on all that.
UPDATE: I put a new piece needed for SOT posts...if all Tribunes could please post the Legion they are serving under. Thanks!:2thumbsup:
Update on this as well: It is not entirely impossible however for Tribunes to command a battle. If their superior officer is not present (In real life) and tells them its okay to take the save and do the battle, then he may. If he is victorious, the tribune will automatically be promoted.
Regarding the battle difficulty: Medium is the most realistic one, playing on VH f.e. only makes foreign peasants slaughter your elite forces. Thats no fun, its just unrealistic. We just mustn't pump one army after another.
Were the Tribunii not meant to join an Army of a Legatus and fight 2 battles, so he gets Legatus himself? 2 battles happen pretty quickly.
And another question:
If the Legatus (next higher rank) is the Commander, so who's the second in command? If this means, that 1 Legatus and 2 Tribuni (second and third in command) fight in an army, so we can "create" 2 Legati per army.Quote:
(1) The Tribunus is third in command of a legion. He is young and therefore must learn how to properly lead and is required to serve in a Legion under a Legatus for at least 2 battles to be promoted or serve as an aid to a Provincial Dictator for 2 years.
(2) May not lead an army of any sort and has only a vote, but no proposing power of edicts.
i edited my post with an idea ^^
the legions are probably not ready to move off yet, I'll notify you when Legio I Apulia is about to move off; I can help you move your avatar towards the legion when it is needed to if you want.
edit: and a question, if there are two different generals in charge of two seperate legions, and one of them attacks a target, the other general and his legion would appear as reinforcements; in the end, who would get the Battle Points? would it be split or would equal amount of the supposed battle points (e.g. clear victory grants 3 points to both in this scenario) be granted?
Sorry TCP missed ya out. Legio I Apulia is full now. Any tribunes applying to the legions will have to fight over the two spots in the Legio II Latium or wait for the next legion
Oh and Il_Duce, everything that happens in the Senate is taken into account for everything, but an official application will be needed in the Campus Martius. Ta
Funny, just realized, that my Character in BtSH was born in the same year as my Character in WotB
