Hello Ironside,
I guess so. Do you have a picture and info on your browser?
I'm using Internet Explorer 8.
This extra space is on all posts that start with a qoute. All other quotes are normal. The weird stuff on the side=sloppy paint use.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I thought it have to do with quotes at first but it seens that the occational smilies not moving with spoiler is unrelated.

Hello,
I use IE, FireFox and Chrome. I haven't seen it yet, neither on Default nor the Guild skin. I'll try another account.
The LDM is working again. It is used to create links to files and is also used to store files for PBM. There are some categories already, you can PM me when you feel something is missing. https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/local_links.php
Looks fixed now. Whatever you did worked. :2thumbsup:
That includes the non moving smilies as well.
Edit: And now both bugs are back, wierd. I guess they're related then. :inquisitive:
Hello Ironside,
Such bug/no bug thing can drive us crazy. :( Have you tried clearing your cache?
I would like to mention that when using TheGuild skin I don't see the time when someone made a post in Social Group discussions.
Background and text have the same color.
I think I got it, it get messed up by the compatible(? directly translated) view function for viewing old pages. It should be off to view the org properly.
Hello Ironside, that's a function of your browser?
True Ibn-Khaldun. The ones in the PM box aren't right either. Many icons are in PNG format now, so old icons will have to be converted to work too.
I've had this screen pop up twice today while viewing the forums:
Attachment 547
I'm using IE 8. It is a sad day when the Org is labeled "unsafe".
Also, since the forum upgrade, my antivirus (Avira Antivir) pops up with warnings of security threats 3-4 times a day. Just thought I'd mention this.
Yes. Evilly placed next to the update button, so you have a tendency to accidently activate the function. Did it again on another page when it occured to me.
Bad commercials I think, had a period of a few days after the update were AVG started to warn occationally at the org.
Edit: Since I got a warning just now, it warns about a rogue scanner.
I've get these when I'm using IE at college. I've had them for ages, and I've raised the issue before. The problem is a particularly ugly advert which pops up on the screen pretending to be Windows Explorer that spontaneously does a "VIRUS SCAN" and finds a horror story of "viruses", "Trojans"etc. Naturally, it's all bunk, similar to the likes of Malware Defender. I've never had them appear with Firefox or Chrome, so that's probably your best bet.
I figured it was an advert with the antivirus warnings, but the red screen was something very new (yesterday was the first). The red screen has come up once again today, but seeing it is sporatic, it too is probably advert related. I didn't want to make any assumptions though. The rash of security alerts I've been getting seems to have jumped significantly after the upgrade. Therefore, I report it here and let Tosa determine if it is upgrade related.
This website has been reported to Microsoft?
There are ads here and there have been less nice ones, a company starts fine, and then throws in annoying banners. But I'm having doubts about IE. It's doing this for sites I know to be 100% secure.

I don't know if it just me, but recently (today) the threads have a tendency to not fit onto screen, just a little as if there was too big a picture posted somewhere.
Well spotted Joooray. We got a new template glitch with todays upgrade.
The "breeze" skin doesn't seem to work anymore either, maybe it's related.
Yeah, on the Guild skin, theres a bit of a white gap to the left of everything.
Hah, and i thought it was because I'm on Loonix (Linux, for those not familiar with my silly jokes).
More like loons, but now I guess I'm one myself, installed it(Ubuntu) on the laptop after MS told me my free MSDNAA copy of Windows 7 only works on one PC, and it will stay on the gaming PC.
It's quite nice so far I must say, installation is almost easier than in Windows now, quite different from what I've seen years ago.
Sorry to nag Tosa, but the page being too wide for the screen is getting on my nerves. No matter how big I make the screen resolution, or how big or small I make the window, the page insists on being just too wide.
In my experience that typically occurs because the CSS width property is set in percent and it gets rounded. You can (usually) work around it with min-width and max-width. Alternatively of course, you can check that padding and margins do add up to 100%.
Does the board still have the previous content (somewhere) for our profile Albums? The albums exist, but are empty. Just curious as to whether these will be recovered eventually, or if I should re-add the pictures.
Hello drone,
Sad story. Jelsoft is changing a lot of things and leaves us in the dark a bit about what is changed. It's also adopting a 'do it our way or not at all' policy. The album directory was not in the new install during the upgrade, I do that for a reason and it's always fine. But now, there is a new asset manager and pictures were stored in some different way. For some reason that subscript only works during the initial upgrade. In other words: when you miss it, you'll not get them in. All pictures are there and I guess a little tweak of the script would still manage to fix it. But there is no such script and I do not have time to even figure out the normal details.
No big deal, I just don't want to potentially mess things up by adding to or deleting the album and then having it restored at a later date. Maybe I'll just create a new one.
That's something to consider indeed drone.
One may upload the same picture again. Depending on how it's set to work, the system may refuse overwriting. The file is still on the server, but it's not tied into the database.
I noticed threads with new messages aren't bolded anymore, I almost thought there were no new ones until I saw the "jump to new post"-buttons.
Find that a bit disturbing as I automatically look for all the bolded topics.
There's more space between the letters but the bolding is a lot better IMO.
I've not noticed bolding going away.
Browser/version?
Hello,
They look bolded to me.
Hmm, I'm using Opera 10.10 on Ubuntu 9.10, the weird thing is it was bolded until today using exactly the same browser, so I figured it was a change in the forum itself.
Bold <- this shows up just fine
Threads with new posts in them show up bolded just fine for me. Opera 10.10 on [k]Ubuntu 10.04.
Get the same in FireFox, so I guess it's something with the Linux.
Probably a font configuration thing. I assume that subpixel hinting, and AA aren't turned on by default in your configuration. You can change that by going to whatever Appearance configuration panel you have and selecting appropriate options for the fonts. (Haven't used Gnome in a while; but IIRC you can access the Apearance thing through right clicking on the desktop/ or via some applications menu.)
There is some subpixel AA thing for fonts activated but changing it doesn't seem to make the letters bold again and since I never changed it I guess it was already selected when the letters were still bold.
No if it is to make a change at all; it will be that the letters get thinner. Alternatively you can edit your $HOME/.fonts.conf file directly; here's mine (with additional comments):
Note that in order to see changes you must restart the applications that use fonts; that is because fonts (and their configuration) are loaded only once. So the best way to test changes is to log out, and log back in.Code:<?xml version='1.0'?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM 'fonts.dtd'>

Heh, there is no such file, even showing the hidden files, there is only the folder for my user in the home-directory, and it's not in that either it seems.
My user folder has a weird file called "€vÿÿÿ6éf°E‰@ȃfÿÿþ‰é8¤EÇÿÿþ•…MtvS<¶Àéºÿÿþé…&´úƒj„Ò…of„&´úƒf„ &´" though, that seems to be empty otherwise. :inquisitive:
That only means you haven't configured anything yet: those hidden files are only generated once after you change defaults.
There is a small problem. When choosing that "What's new" option I don't see the Forums where those new posts have been posted. They just don't appear there!
It works for me Ibn-Khaldun. Try again? There might be a cache glitch on the server side, meaning we need to try again.
I used Ctrl+A to highlight the page and there is still nothing there.
https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/...f/orgwatch.jpg
Ah, I see what you mean. Doesn't work for me either. Will look at this.
It does in the default skin, so my guess is that it didn't copy to the Guild style.
Funny software: 'nothing to do', but it did update. It works for me now, does it for you too?
I can see them in the TheGuild2 skin but not in the TheGuild skin.
TheGuild2 skin should no longer be there, I expected to have to start from scratch to fix the scroll-bar.
I see the forums in TheGuild skin.
No, still nothing.
I would like someone else to confirm my problem. It's weird that only I have it. :wall:
Works fine for me.
Tried clearing your cache? I see no reason for that to be the problem, but hey, who knows?
Thank you Beskar!
I can see the forums again! Should have done it before(clearing my cache) when Tosa mentioned that this could be the case.
Glad to hear it works now Ibn-Khaldun.
Upgraded to the newest Ubuntu 10.04 and threads with new messages are bold again, just saying.
That's great Husar.
Is the Ubuntu upgrade proces easy and convenient or does one need to tweak everything again?
It seems as if the quote gap for IE is solved too. Can anyone confirm?
Hmm.. What is that Facebook thingy on top of the page??
Seems to be fixed in Firefox as well.
As far as I can tell it kept all my settings, probably saves them in config files that aren't updated.
Was only my second upgrade so far, a more experienced linux user should be able to give a better/more informed answer, as far as I'm concerned it's pretty good though.
Hello,
I changed a few files, and now the forum should work like it normally did: so https://forums.totalwar.org/vb loads the forums (just like the new https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forum.php does).
https://forums.totalwar.org loads the CMS just like https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/content.php does (coded in tab at the navigation bar).
It should work smoothly, but don't hesitate to report glitches with it.
You love everyone!
Nope.
Is anyone else experiencing annoying slowdowns on page loads? It only happens to me at the org.
When the page is nearly loaded, it hangs for a couple of seconds like it's waiting for something. Very annoying.
^ that's happened to me too. Click on a thread and the loading bar moves VERY slowly. Sometimes the tread doesn't open at all before I give up and leave the guild. Happens occasionally. I went to another forum immediatly after this happened to me one day and I had no problems there. Strange.
Tosa san
Could you please put a horizontal rule line between peoples' posts & their signatures? Or hmm in the preview there is one so maybe it just needs to be coloured differently so it shows up?
I keep finding myself reading the same signatures over & over :stars:
Edit: Ok this is a Guild style specific issue. The other styles show the horizontal rule ok.
I recently switched to NTW style background from the guild style. I like it, but on blue backgrounds, the grey and green texts are hard to read. When you hilight the forum jump thing at the top of the tread posts, you can't read what you are hilighting. Nothing big, just minor annoyances. Thought I would share.
edit: the blue box on a blue background surrounding quotes is also hard to see. I should be yellow! :)
I'll search for it hoom.
Development of that skin halted for it bit A Nerd.
No problem I was just in a complaining mood anyway! :) I like the guild style. I will just stick to that one for awhile.Quote:

Hi Tosa,
I was wondering if there is supposedly any ETA on a fix for all displaced pics, sigs, smileys and quotes on the boards? Is that something that will be fixed any time soon? Things has been placed like crap ever since the supposed software upgrade. It hardly strikes me as vital – but it would be nice to have things properly placed again (as supposed to).
