Finished my turn, should be able to get the save uploaded in a few hours.
New save up.
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/Britannia-9-2.zip
Lesson learned: Cavalry, even knights, really suck in autocalc. I fought a battle against a Norse army with 2:1 odds in my favor, and if it weren't for friendly fire on the part of Norway's force, losses on both sides would have been even.
here's the save, wales is next

I pm'd roadkill...but is he around or do we need a sub?
Sorry for the...wow, quadruple post, but I wanted to bring something up. In the Grand Campaign hotseat, we decided that it was ok to do the surround and destroy thing to agents, because it is hard to enforce a ban on it and it seemed to be realistic for a whole army to search out and capture a spy or assassin.
Recalling this I used the tactic to take out a spy, only realizing after that we hadn't talked about it in this game.
Is everyone ok with this? I can use the console to bring back the spy, I think.
ha ha, I ruined your quadruple post attempt
I think it's a bit cheesy but I'll go with it if other people want to use it - and considering it has already happened probably best just to leave it legal
Curses, all I have is a triple post now. :clown:
Those are my thoughts. I allowed it in the other game because almost everyone (who said anything) wanted to.
Edit: Just out of curiosity what events in Australia does your sig refer to?
Roadkill is around, but has trouble sometimes getting to his turns. I'm not really sure what his situation is regarding internet access.
sorry, very culturally specific of me, I forget that cricket is of zero interest to much of the world...

the Indian PR people were claiming that harbhajan had in fact said "maan ki" which means "your mother"
They're burning effigies over it? :clown:
I find it amusing that "your mother" is less offensive than the racial slur. I might actually be angrier if that's what I thought someone said to me. :clown:
I'm coming to the view that you're nobody in India unless you've had your effigy burned
Having troubles defeating a sick lion? ~;p good ol' Prince Knud. ~;)Quote:

My own general was pretty good as well, and my army was much higher quality and more expensive.:sweatdrop:
Anyway, losses one each side would have been even if your men hadn't managed to kill a good 30 of their own. :clown:

If I remember my Norse SP campaign from long ago correctly, Haakon shows up in the first couple turns.
I'm impressed by Cheetah's bevaior as well as his skill. There seems to be something about long odds that brings out the best in hotseat players (see Tristan in the Teutonic game, who kicked the butts of most of the factions on the map, me included, by himself).
I hope I keep half that good humor when the inevitable "everyone turns on England" event occurs.
Phonicsmonkey, did Roadkill read your pm? I'm wondering if he's having internet problems. He's already missed two turns. I know another player who'd like to sub, Boyar's Son, I could ask him if Roadkill can't do it.
please, call me monkey
I'm not completely au fait with the whole pm thing, but I have zero unconfirmed message receipts which suggests he has read it
if there's a way I can look to see when he read it let me know and I'll do it...
Other than looking at your private message reciepts, I can't think of a way to tell. If you erase yours like I do, that might not work.
I'll send him a pm. I think he has another day left before the deadline (well, half a day). If he can't play the turn I'll find a sub.
I'm starting to think one could constantly be playing in at least one hotseat just by being on sub duty full time. :clown:
No burning in effigy for me, I'll just stick to calling you Maan Ki. ~;)
Perhaps ask Doug. Or is somebody else going to be available quickly?
I don't want to seem selfish, but I would rather like to play my last turn before I leave. If we cannot find a sub, can I do it again? And seeing as this is the third time, I hate to say it, but should we perhaps be looking for another player?
Roadkill still hasn't answered my pm. :sweatdrop:
Go ahead and sub the turn. You're the only one who's subbed for him, so I suppose it doesn't matter if you see where his men are (which may bear no relation to where they were when he last played anyway).
I'll see if I can get in touch with him before his next turn and work something out. If need be, we'll get a new player.
Righto. I'll get to that, and my own turn after work then. I don't want to throw RoadKill out, far from it, but its not only that we always have to wait for him he also never seems to answer the messages. Oh well. Maybe hes just got a lot on or something.
I don't know what his current situation is, or what's been going on in other hotseats but I looked back over his turns in this game, and he has only missed the deadline twice before this turn (out of nine turns)
Once over New Year's Eve (which I think is excusable), and last turn when deguerra subbed for him
So it seems like it's a recent issue, maybe with his internet as Zim suggested...
If possible it'd be great to keep the same players in the game - we've already had one switch and although luckily that hasn't disrupted things thanks to deguerra's consistency with PK's gameplay, we know from PO's experience in the Teutonic game that it can be frustrating and disruptive.
So if there's any way of getting in touch with Roadkill and sounding him out before making a permanent switch let's do that.
Does anyone have an email address for him?
I'd personally rather not have the players changed either, but I do think that with absence number 3 and with no replies to pms, we have a problem. He did play his GHC2 turn, which came up about the same time as his last turn here. I would suspect he's either having trouble with his internet connection (like EF, where it's on and off again) or having time issues.
Unfortunately, I don't have his email and his account isn't set up so I can send him one via the ORG. I'll just have to try another pm.
At any rate, if deguerra plays his turn tonight Roadkill should have about a week or so until the next one. Hopefully that will give us all enough time to sort things out.
don't get me wrong, switching players is the last thing I want, and I didn't want to sound harsh or abbrasive. But on the other hand, I do want this hotseat to continue in a timely fashion, and currently its being a bit slow. Let's hope he comes back soon
I didn't think you were being, and I apologise if I came across as suggesting that you were.Quote:

I'm all in favour of subbing this turn of his by the way..although I'd still prefer a neutral third party to do the subbing rather than another player in this hotseat...
Nothing personal deguerra...
deguerra was a third party the first time he subbed. Since he's been the guy making the moves for Wales these past two turns, it might provide some consistency in absence of instruction from Roadkill for him to sub again.
I could probably find another person, if need be, but we should decide quickly if we can.

With directions as to what to do or the diplomatic situation of the Wales (?) faction, I could do it Friday evening... if you're still lokking for a sub...
Well, let me see, Wales was just about to launch a surprise attack on England, and on Ireland, and ... on Scottland :idea2:Quote:

:2thumbsup:
Sorry, blame school. Deguerra should be my full-time sub. :laugh4:
Anyways, School is screwing me over, I hardly have enough time to even come on the forum, or play MTW2. AND TO MY LUCK!!! I made the basketball, volleyball, and football team. Don't worry though. Give me a week or two and it'll be back to normal.
So deguerra if I seem inactive don't even wait, just sub for me.
PS: I hope your a good MTW2 player.....
Thanks for letting us know RoadKill. Ok I will do this tonight then.
I have already made my offer. Which is a 50%-50% split of the original rebel settlements. I also made it clear both to you and to the previous scottish player that I have no claims on the mainland (other then what I already have, i.e. Wick).Quote:

I have never backstabbed anyone neither in this or in any other game. When I started the war I made a public announcement in the council, it was no surprise to anyone.Quote:

We've all been pretty open about starting wars in this game.
All right. I have attempted preliminary peace talks with the Norse. Can England and Ireland PM me their IC thoughts on such matters?
Glad to hear you're still in, Roadkill. After this turn I'll probably ask Tristan or another player outside of this game to sub for you. With so few players, it could cause problems having someone in the game deciding what troops you hire and where they go. :sweatdrop:
I'll let you know if I find a sub and you can send him directions in case you miss any more turns these next two weeks.
after some PMing and remembering troubles regarding the Welsh password, I finally remember. Roadkill, that is just cruel :beam:
Anyway, Norway is up:
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/Britannia-9-5.rar
Hey guys. Just to remind you I'll be gone for the next three weeks. Zim is taking over the first week and barcamartin from then on, so Roadkill be sure to let them know when its their turns.
Otherwise best of luck guys its been a pleasure playing with you and I hope you won't have destroyed me when I get back ~;)
Bump
Sorry for the delay, I will upload it today.
Bump
Cheetah?
I guess I'll see about getting a sub to play tomorrow. Probably internet trouble or something.
I will sub for him!
:laugh4:
You could sub for him for the Grand Campaign game.
good point
I won't have a chance tonight as I'm going to the cricket, but I'll drop in tomorrow some time and see if you still need somebody - pm me the password in the meantime so I can crack on with it if you're offline
vanilla 1.3 I presume? think I still have that dusty old icon somewhere...
go ahead without me if you find somebody else first, of course
I'll see if one of his allies in the game wants to first. Although I think it would be better for a player that isn't in that game to sub for him, he might object to one of his mortal enemies in this game doing his turn in another. :clown:
I think he'd have to assume I'm a very vindictive person to have any problem with that...but I take your point
If I can't get in touch with them before I go to bed tonight (about 4-6 hours) I'll pm you the password. I wish I could pm instructions, but other than going after rebel settlements I don't know much. :sweatdrop:
I subbed for Cheetah (he is in a tough spot...)
Here is the save for England :
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/Britannia-10-1.rar
I aplogize from everyone for the delay. I did my turn yesterday but forgot to upload it, I had a busy day ...:sweatdrop:
Here is me version if Zim would prefer it:
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/Britannia-10-1.rar
ps. I probably overwrote Tristan's version anyway ...:sweatdrop:
Cheetah,
Make some space in your inbox, I have news for you...
Ok, I'll take Cheetah's save, then.
Tristan, I'm sorry I wasted your time..
The uploaded save is mine from what I gathered...
Seeing how I beat he crap out of some Scot and English fleets plus took some Scot land, I know why you would prefer to play from Cheetah's save...:clown:
I wouldn't have thought Cheetah had any fleets left capable of such a thing, You seem to have a magic touch for autoresolve. :clown:
Seeing as there's apparently only one save name, I'll take whoever's save it happens to be...

Ok, although I hit the link in Cheetah's post, I think I got Tristan's save, judging by a look at my ships and Norway's ranking in the charts.
You scared me, Tristan, I thought you hit my real fleet. :clown:
Ireland's up!
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/Britannia-10-2.zip
wales is up
sorry Zim, I didn't send a pm 'coz I don't remember who is subbing for roadkill
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/Britannia-10-3.zip
Roadkill doesn't have an official sub at the moment. I'll pm him first, since he was unsure of his ability to play but didn't rule it out. If he can't, then I'll check in the Grand Campaign hotseat.
I'm up to do some mischief subbing for Roadkill...
No such luck, Roadkill isn't at war with anyone and barring extenuating circumstances (like an invasion) I don't think it's appropriate for a sub to attack anyone the actual player is neutral or allied towards. ~;p
I want to give Roadkill at least 24 hours, in case school's let up, but he did give us the go ahead to continue if he doesn't get back to us. 16 hours more and you're welcome to sub for him, Tristan.

After the practice you'll have to download the Broken Crescent mod and get in on the ground floor for the hotseat planned for that one. :beam:

I guess it would be kind of pointless to ask how the BC hotseat's going then? :clown:
I've been wondering how the units in the game would do balance-wise for autoresolve.

Well, yeah, I have absolutely no idea and according to my sub he fought no battles. From my single player experience it seems that Ayyubid often lose to Makurians in auto-resolve, atleast in the early game.
I feel bad for you Barca... Having taken two of your provinces last turn...
Is that so ? I'll just have to take them back, for the honour of Scotland and pride of deguerra (or something :p) :D
Good luck...
Thank you, I might need it ;)
Unfortunately I'm not sure he has any, except trade rights with England and a border established in the Council. He also may have allied with one of the other celtic nations, but I can't say. :sweatdrop:
