Hey BKB, just finished downloading this great and awesome mod of yours, and I have started a campaign with the Byzantines in early. After eliminating the Turks, i came into more direct contact with the Armenians and I noticed they are an Orthodox faction. Did you do this because there are so many catholic factions already in the game, or was this just something that was overlooked. Historically the Armenians were a catholic nation, in fact they were the first Catholic nation on earth. Unless they converted to Orthodox for a period of time(I find this unlikely) I don't quite understand why you made them that way. Thanks.
hi bkb. how about giving the eastern peoples their compound bows? i think that muslim, ortodox and steppe factions should get compound bows with the long range trait. historically, the archers from this regions were very skilled, and now you have a turcoman or trebizond archer with the same range of a plain vanilla archer unit, when in fact the compound bow its much more powerful. i think it's unfair that only the english have great bowmen. also maybe horse archers could get the normal bow, which i think has more accuracy, and maybe you could give the mongol light cavalry archers the armour piercing effect, to match the devastation of their tactics against the armoured knight...

The Armenians in this period are divided between Orthodox and Catholics. Due to contact with the Crusaders, they switched their allegience to Rome. However, not all did. Armenians are closer to the Byzantines in religion than any other sect. So, BKB has made the right choice considering the varied sectarian allegience of the Armenians.

I agree with dire wolf about compos. bows, they do seperate the easterners from the westerners when it comes to ranged warfare. It certainly made the difference when I experimented with the PROJ STATS file that way.

I control almost all France (except venetian Touluse and navaresse Gascony), Germany with Silesia, Bohemia, Poland but except Pomerania, nortern part of Italy, southern half of England.
Unfortunately I'm fighting with two empires: Byzantium on the east and Egypt on the west (and Navarra as a ally of Egypt). Everyone around is waiting to catch my nice developed provinces...

I have an idea about the crashes now, uksiu, what was in your armies and the oppositions? Who were you by the way, france or england?
Great mod, been playing like a madman. Love the religious military orders. I do have a few questions perhaps you could answer BKB.
I remeber somewhere in this thread mention of an elite Hospitaller unit. I haven't seen them in the game yet. Are they going to be in Super Late? Also, I've seen on your web page pictures of a Royal Papal Bodyguard but haven't seen them in game. Only other question is about the Order of St. James. I see mention of them when right-clicking Rome but have yet to be able to produce them. Are these all units that come into play in Super Late?

Welcome to the Org Pax, and glad to hear you're enjoying the mod. Yes, Hospitaller Elite Guard and the Papal Royal Bodyguard will appear in Late, as will others like Lithuanian Infantry. Order of St James are infact in the current mod, but you can only get them I if you play as the Papacy and I think the Italian States (although I'm not too sure about this)
Thanks for the swift reply and for clearing up the elite Hospitallers and Papal Bodyguards. Strange thing though, I have built the province of Rome up as much as possible (year twelve-seventy-something) and there is no option to build Order of St. James troops even in Rome where they supposedly get their bonus. Strange, that. Have you ever seen them or been able to train them in the game?
Now, as to adding my two cents. Hehehehe, everyone does this, right? Why not? :) Snag a province in the Middle East and make it solely Hospitaller, make 'em a faction. Ok, ok, you'd have to be really stretching it a bit to justify making them a faction in the Mid-East, but as the various Orders rarely saw eye to eye, it would be quite interesting. Hospitallers, being the largest of the Mid-East Orders, it would make sense. Or, for Super Late you could give them Rhodes or Malta (changing the name of the Order to that of either Island to reflect historical accuaracy). Personally I think it would work out quite nicely. I would be happy to provide historical context for the Hospitallers as I study them (and other Orders) in my spare time.
This is your mod of course, and it's brilliant, so the above is just a suggestion. I think it would just add a certain little twist. When the Hospitallers took refuge on the islands of Rhodes, then Malta, they became pretty adept naval warriors. THAT could make for interesting Mediteranean scenarios.
Also, are you adding any other Orders (their troops anyway) on the Iberian Peninsula for Super Late? I thought I recalled reading something about that in this thread.
Anyway yeah, excellent job. Thank you for including the Crusader States, it does certainly add to the game in a great way. But yeah, a Hositaller faction would be killer :D
The hospitillars will be in late and own rhodes, not malta though, which they did not equire till nearly two centuries after their capture of Rhodes. They will get access to all of the Hospitaller units, and probably exclusive access to Hospitaller spearmen http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wave.gif I think I exhausted the Knightly orders for High, the only one I can think of is the Portuguese 'Knights of Christ'. Nice, and well done on the history part. My mention of Malta was with the caveat that you'd have to stretch a bit to make it work there. I love the idea of Rhodes. Accurate and d*mned fun. Good on the Templar thing, I was kind of concerned that they might be in there, glad to see that you're still sticking to the historical aspect, what with the Papacy giving Templar holdings to the Hospitallers.
And man, I'm very glad to hear the Hospitallers will be a playable faction unto themselves. Sure, they'll start small, but I like starting like that.
Portugese Knights of Christ will be a nice touch for whatever faction can train them.

Check the Crusader_prod file for what the OOSJ need - it should be the same as all the other mounted Crusader units. I think I'll keep mounted Templars but remove the Foot Knights.
Although redecorating my room is taking up a lot of my time lately, yes a late July release is still the target. No promises, but I'm currently looking at adding historical campaigns and battles. I'm looking at Granada to be a battle, and Edward's Bane to be a campaign. Their lethality seems fine to me. Playing as the Armenians my Trebizond Archers moved down quite a lot of Kataphraktoi (I was attacked by an army led by the Byzantine Emperor and four of his Princes, I captured them all but they refused to pay their ransom I was skint too http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...c-furious3.gif ).Quote:

Well they'll get a couple of new units: Ottoman-Balkan Yayas and Akinjas. They'll probably be far more powerful than in the previous periods so I presume yes they will be fairly different. Seljuk Horse Archers will go, heralding a change from the Seljuks to the Ottomans.
I got it regarding the OOSJ. You have to have a chapter house to build them. Rome is Papal land and they don't get the opportunity to build chapter houses, hence, the OOSJ can't be built. Any idea on how I can change that so I can train them?Quote:

Very good point, and one which I fatally overlooked Must have done that BEFORE I removed the Papacy's ability to build Chapter Houses and subsequently crusades. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/gc-wall.gif I will amend this in the next release.
If you want to do it now, remove the CHAPTER_HOUSE in the building requirements for the unit and save the file. Back up beforehand however in case it screws up the game.

i am not expert im orders m8 i only know the 4 militar orders that where in portugal but must be more orders(small , medium orders maybe )
There are more knightly orders, like the Knights of Our Lady of Montesa, but they are very small and I feel I've got the main ones in. If there was one I've neglected for a faction that doesn't currently have a knightly order I might think otherwise.
Hmm, another CTD this time playing the Papacy in super high, the Genoese invade Rome, clicked to save battle and it ctd, tried auto resolve battle which I won clicked on the tick and ctd. I'd really love if you made the compound bow distenction. Giving eastern foot archers compound bow, and mabye make another kind for horsearchers. And despot, the fact is their bows should be far better then they are now. In fact, theres nothing to sepreate them from normal archers currently in their shooting skills. And if you don't plan on doing this, could someone explain to me how to so I could do it myself?

I might have a prezy for u, If you want them ?? I've re-done the blank shields in Custom 4. i.e the shields for Chivserg's, Ordersergeants, Pavise xbows etc. Added some basic designs, 3d rendering and faction colours. Its my first go so there not perfect and some factions wear them better than others but I think there an improvement. The files are 1.27mb's in total. If you want to pm me your email i'll send them over. Otherwise I could upload to somewhere If I find out how. If you like these I can send you others as I finish them.

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but when plays on GA if GA's for each faction was mixed up, like the Spanish had the Russian's, and the Russian's had the English's goals. Also at the start all of the factions descriptions were mixed up, like the Papacy were described as the Polish. It's not necessarily a big deal, just thought you might want to know.
