Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The emissary of the Sindh rises from a private discussion table and clears his throat to draw silent attention from the other delegates.
Noble Lords I rise here to announce a treaty of military alliance has been signed into being between the Ghorid Emirate, the Malikate of Sindh, and the Sultanate of Ghazni! The primary purpose of this agreement is defensive in nature, of course, and I must make it known that any nation which makes war on any member of the alliance will face the might of all the nations. The members of this alliance do not feel it requires any special title, but if it must be referred to as something then call it the Eastern Islamic Alliance, or EIA for short.
On a smaller scale I would also like to announce that the Caliph of the Abbasids and my own King have reached an agreement over the disposition of my two western territories including adequate compensation. With that matter out of the way I humbly and officially petition for membership in the Confederacy.
May Allah most merciful bestow peace and prosperity on all present on this most glorious day!

Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Omani's diplomat is in thought.
Hmmm... If their is now word that all of the Islam powers allied. I am sure that the Infidel armies on both sides will call in more forces... I am sure that the Hindus will call in all of the man power they have from eastern India to help ... Be careful... and yes... Welcome to the confederation, Mighty Sindhs, as a first act of peace, I wish to disband our northern navies. to garenteed friendship, and most of all, trade. I have seen the Sindh's navy, and I am sure it will protect the coast from pirates. or from the raiding India's nations.

Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The kypchak looks a tad less cheerful, which is strange for him...
dear omani, why separate peoples and there lands into different cateagories, mearly through religion? if this was the case maybe you shouldnt of held this meeting, the point of this was to talk thing out while everyone is treated the same, instead i see you plotting against the indians:shame:
it is good to hear of your new pact malikate of sindh, but you must realize that you are from hindu oragin yourselves, im mearly trying to prevent war...
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Omani's Diplomat laughs.
The Hindus are not on our hitlist, They trade many riches from the fareast into our ports, Making our economy boundless.. Though... I will tell every one this, If the New nation of the Africans do not give the trade posts to the Trade empire, It will be Total War, the Trade Empire will put all force into taking these trade posts we lost not to long ago...
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
I assume you mean the Horn of Africa and the small island off of it by trading posts? In any case, the Makurians have yet to send an emissary here, obviously, and my king has received no word from them himself in several months. You may have to find another way to reach them with your deman- err... requests...
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Georgian Diplomat frowns. After a few minutes, he speaks up, in the direction of the Omani ambassador:
"A hitlist, you say? Would a peacefull, trading faction have a hitlist? Even if made in jest, the fact that you would use that word troubles me somewhat..."
He sits down, indeed looking disturbed.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Abbasid Emissary stands up and says..
Georgian, there is no 'hitlist'. My friend from Oman here have to use some better words to describe what he wants to say.
Watching the Omani ambassador with disapproval..
But what the ambassador from Malikate of Sindh just said..
The Caliphate is enlightened and happy with the new found friendship and Alliance ..
We welcome you into the Confederation!
Emissary sits and takes some papers that were just brought to him..
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Omani's Diplomat was still grinning.
Well, The main purpose of the meeting here was to at least establish talks between our neighbors. Then the Great Imam decided to bring every one under one roof. If these Unciviiii... I mean. People of Africa do not come soon, to talk about the trade posts being brought back. Then we will take them.
He would turn to the to the Georgian.
Well, You see we are very peacefull, but when animaaa..... I mean these people of Africa take our restocking location for Indian Ocean trade, and our biggest exporter of Slaves, We ship them all to the Eastern Isamish nations to help supply their armies, and their common workers. Then the Great trade empire will turn it's coins into swords. and claim back our trade posts. The great Imam can only think that the Ann...fican are using the trade posts as an invasion point. For that, We give them one year, to give up our trade posts. If they even bring a diplomat who can speak a language that we can understand...
The Omani's Diplimat turns to the Sindhs,
It is good to see that such trading brothers are now part of the confederation, If I may recommend. Your costal cities and our northern cities should be focusing on trade structures, As good people of the trade Empire, The great Imam himself wishes to help pay for any Market type or Port type structures, if you are having trouble with an income. May this allience bring coin to us both.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The emissary of the Sindh nods his head in the direction of the Omani.
Indeed, trade is to be a high focus of my nation and the development of port facilities and roads will surely aid the economic development of both our peoples. I am also considering the disposition of our naval forces; it is much to be hoped that the majority of them will not be needed for the long term.

Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
the kypchak sees all has gone silent all but a few whispers, he says...
i thought i would announce the removal of the kypchak fort army at the roman border, if they want peace, as adviced, would you do the same dear romans?
thank you also for your offer of trade rights:beam:

Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
A large man dressed in Roman garb marches into the room. He grabs some leftover grapes and stuffs them into his gaping maw. He sloshes down some wine and then opens a scroll.
On behalf of the Roman Empire, I do hereby relieve the former Roman delegate of his duties, and inform this august body that I will be speaking on behalf of the Roman people from this time forward.
Should you wish to open negotiations with the Roman Empire, send your emissaries through me, or dispatch a private message to the Roman Emperor himself. The Roman Empire will brook no aggression, and will tolerate no insult, however, we extend our hand in friendship to our nearby neighbors and those of you from distant nations.
With a large belch, the man sits down and begins consuming large quantities of wine.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
the kypchaks confused...
welcome friend! we have much to discuss, your last messenger was perhaps a tad fiery at times, i wonder why you have taken his place?:laugh4: it matters little i guess, but the agreement that i seem to have held with the last messenger was to decrease the strength of our forts bordering the danube river, to show peaceful intentions, i have, i hope your peoples can do the same
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
Greetings to yourself as well.
Rest assured, the mighty forces of Rome will not be marching into Kypchak lands. We would not be caught with our backs to our own territory when the invasion from my "peaceful" neighbors arrives.
As a matter of fact, I think the Kypchaks and the Romans would do well to cement a permanent peace treaty of non-aggression, involving the following conditions:
-Neither nation will post a garrison larger than one quarter stack in the bordering province, neither shall the garrison be comprised of anything besides Militia.
-Neither nation shall send ships into the waters claimed by the other nation, for such things are the foreshadowing of an invasion.
-There shall be a permanent peace treaty and trade rights granted between Rome and the Kypchaks.
Turning towards the Armenian, Ayyubid, Latin, and Turkish delegates:
So shall we offer a peace agreement to you, if you so desire. Rome has plenty of land in the West and does not seek to expand at this time.
A lack of formal peace agreement, however, will be seen as an aggressive position, and will invite our armies to defend ourselves before yours set foot in Roman territory.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
the kypchak appears shocked...
well...your far more reasonable than your last messenger, i am rather confused, one man tells us how he plans to war with us, while another tell us of his peaceful intentions! well as an answer to your kind question i will answer
the fort that is at your border has but only a small quantiy of swordsmen in it
my nation prefers not to use boats so that shall'nt b a bother either, im glad you see the benifit of our nations relations! and if this peace is that of an allaince, then i will give it some deep thought, unless i mis intrepreted your speech...
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The previous delegate was instructed to speak on behalf of Rome, but the Emperor has been away on matters in the Western theatre of Europe, defending the empire from Sicilian invaders. Frankly the delegate before me had nothing to say and was forced to ad-lib.
There will be no more of that. Rest assured, Rome is committed to peace, by diplomacy and reason, or by force if necessary.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Omani's Diplomat would yawn, Taking some more grapes, waiting politely for the New Roman and New Khan Diplomat to make peace.
The Great Sindh, We have sent a diplomat to your mighty fortress by our northern settlements to make the alliance clear. To this, You will be making sure that our lands that you surround are safe, I would like to also inform you that the Armies from the north were put on boats, now being moved to the mainland to make the Great Oman Trade Empire... more... peaceful like. Yes?...
The Omani's diplomat then turns to the Ghazi's delegate.
I have also sent a diplomat to your southern fort that now almost seems abandoned, We smile on you to see that your alliance has made a peaceful effort, and trust worthy Allies, So we, The great trade empire will also like to reach a hand of a defensive alliance toward the Great Sultan of Ghazi.
Then he would turn, seeing if the African Representive came in yet, sighs then just eyes the rest.
If this excuse of a Kingdom... the African Tribes does not bother sending a delegate to our meeting that we invited them to. We will have no other choice but to send them a messege with a sword inside. Please note to all of the empires on the border or trading to the Imam Empire, We are increasing our Military focus toward the south. As the possible threat of the Animmm... I mean African people has only shown violence toward the Islamic people. We hopefully can solve this problem peacefully....
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Roman delegate unsheaths his sword, and flings it with great skill to impale the wall inches from the Omani delegate's head.
There will be no more insults towards our Orthodox brothers in this manner, Oman. You are testing my patience with your militant rhetoric.
The AFRICAN Christians who have done you no wrong do not deserve this kind of sub-human treatment. Address them kindly as your fellow man, or do not address them at all.
Politeness, gentlemen, always politeness... unless you wish to behave like "animals". Animals resolve their differences by fighting to the death or until the weakest one leaves and vainly searches for a place to curl up and die. If you wish this to remain civil, you will address the Makurian Kingdom as just that, lest we consider the Oman territories to be nothing but hostages to unruly pirates and raiders.
Would you like to rephrase your less than courteous statements towards those close friends of the Roman empire, or would you like to make an enemy today? Impoliteless will be answered with even more impoliteness. Let us not turn these negotiations into an insult fest.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
the kypchak adds...
this golden crescent bond is getting shadier by the minute with an omani ruler, you encourage peace yet frown on our peoples when we try using it? and your previous comments about having a 'hitlist' also disturbs me, as you still havent reconsider that array of words, even the abbasids disagreed with your speech, be careful what you say dear omani...look where it got my previous messenger
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Roman delegate harrumphs.
If these negotiations would be better held in Constantinople, all are welcome. But let us not get ahead of ourselves... the Holy City of Jerusalem would make a fine choice, or the capital of the Great Seljuk empire would do nicely. I understand the Seljuks still hold a massive amount of influence, even if they no longer rule the Caliphate.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Oman Diplomat is Offended by this. And the Elite heavily armored gaurds come into alert, but stand still.
Are you Absurd!?, We did not call you to out to a meeting that the Omani's Trade Empire has placed in one of the great trade cities for a ROMAN to play Gladiator and Fling swords around!, We Only wish to take back our trade outposts lost due to these... these... Mutters something below his breath has Taken our peaceful Trade outposts by force, Cutting us our supplies from slaves. We only wish to ask them to even come to a meeting, For which they have all but seem to Decline my messege, of finding a peaceful way of their "Animal" like traits to expand their territorial grounds. If they wish to Expand their grounds even more, or not even bother to make an agreement to give back the Trade Empire's Trade outposts, Then they will meet the force of the Omani's empire.
The Omani's Diplomat turns and forcefully grabs the sword from the impaled wall.
Now that the Gladiator that the Romans has now sent us is now Disarmed. I will be happily to inform that no one in this present room will be threatened by his "Animal" like quality, This meeting has no rules, The diplomats come here to let out what ever their empires will, Insults is just a few of many words. But swords... If any thing that Omani's Empire will do the work by tameing this beast... One way or the other... not the Confederation.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
ignoring the omans dramatic performance the kypchak replies to the roman
indeed any of those sound fair to me, im used to travelling, and i wouldnt want to stay here any longer
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
Oh spare me the melodramatics.
You talk of invading a Christian nation, calling them animals, and threatening to kill the people there. This is supposed to be a peace negotiation, not a square from which dictators can launch threatening and deeply offensive rhetoric, backed with swords, towards the very delegates they invited to this meeting.
I was simply pointing out that such words and actions will lead to even more dire words and actions. If you behave like a barbarian, you will be treated like one and disposed of like one.
The Kypchak tribes on my northern border behave with more culture than you, sir. If you wish to reverse everyone's perceptions of you, then stop reinforcing them. Then I will not have to remind you, with the actions of an animal, how to behave like a man.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Omani's diplomat simply laughed
Oh yes, The "Makurian" Kingdom of saveges has taken lands of Islamic People, and most likely Butchered them, And now a nation from far away defends them just due to their Religion. If I am correct, You're fighting more christians to the west.. the so called "Sicilian invaders", Let me ask you this Gladiator, Do you simply let your land being taken away from you and if so, Would you just sigh, and just say that It's the Direction that the Roman Empire is going any ways? Or did you fight back the invaders, Take back any lands, With words or with swords? I am OFFERING these people words, but simply they do not wish to show. We simply wish to take back what is rightfully ours. Our trade cities.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
the kypchak intreupts the oman...
was it not a mear 20 years ago that you were controled by the seljuk empire? the africian makurias have done no trepass of your lands, there in africian terratory, and seeing as you've not long gained indepenance as a nation you are soon to claim land, the africians mayb have 'stole' the land from you, but it was theres in the first place! oman is a mear stretch the southern tip of the middle east, you do not belong to africa dear friend! :laugh4:
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Oman Diplomat gives a cold glare at the Khan.
That is where you are wrong, They sailed out to take an island off the arabian coast. And destroyed a trade outpost on that island. You could easily say that was a pure act of independance, but when an empire from africa, builds a navy and invades the Islands. Who knows what it is, Who knows if they have an army, prepairing to invade the coast... Though, I have forgotten, The Khan's people are failures are the sea. So yes, Any ways, we are hopefull that the... ... people have come to their senses, and give back the lands, and be just like the Turkish and the Sindhs as of being most understanding,
And one last thing Khan, This "Small" nation on the "Southern tip of the middle east" is far more greater in value than your vast... Worthless Tundra.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The emissary of Jerusalem is pleasantly surprised at the new Roman diplomat's attitude.
"I wholeheartedly agree with my new friend here. If you have invited this kingdom of men to speak at your capital, you should at least treat your guests courteously and refrain from addressing them as animals! Even if their diplomat has not yet arrived, they are still considered your presumed guests. I shall have to remember this the next time I am invited to dinner by an Omani..."
And the emissary of Jerusalem sits.

Hey!
Worthless Tundra might have wildlife and rivers and raw minerals and timber. What does a desert contain that's so valuable?
Mark my words, the arabian peninsula will forever and for all time be plagued with poverty. There is nothing, nothing at all underneath that vast expanse of desert sands that could possibly be of any use to anyone, especially not in a few centuries. I predict by the turn of the Millenium, the Omani people will be among the poorest in the world.
The Roman ambassador sits down, pleased with himself, certain of the accuracy of his prediction.

Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
The Omani's diplomat is in shock.
Please, Myself? You're new friend just threw a sword, and if it was to kill me, That silly gladiator would of been no longer a "Guest" and would have been exicuted by the gaurds for murder. But I am a man of reason, and for that I forgive the Roman Diplomat, for throwing a sword in a moments notice of coming to the table, Though, The Problem should be off you and your roman friend. Look what this meeting has achieved so far? I think things are going very good... besides the fact that some diplomats just arn't here still..., The only reason why we say both, is that we are able to accept the grim outcomes of this. Of possibly the people refusing to make things peaceful, to even refuse to come to the meeting. I am listing all possible outcomes of this... problem... I Envy the Caliph already due to the very simple fact that His "Problems" were understanding people...
(OOC: NO! MY GOVERMENTS WILL USE THE OIL TO MAKE US RICH! YOU WILL SEE!!! YOOOUUU WILL SEEE!!!! At least my empire didn't get wtf owned by the turks with mega cannons. ; ;)
And roman, With the sea being the greatest way of transportation of goods, We connect the Far east, with the west. Unless if some mythical Flying carpet comes to reality and makes the sea trade forgotten.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 3 Diplomacy: Progress
Oil????
HA!
That stuff is worthless. For lighting torches and nothing more, and I've never heard of any coming from the desert.
