Flaming sword? Or steam-powered nail gun? Which would be better t taking out zombies?
Flaming sword, definitely.
In that case include in the next orders to search the rest of the store, there will be a chemical supplies area lol.
If you guys want to go back to the storage area, I could possibly turn that creature in pod 134 into a dog, and he could be your companion for the rest of the game
:sarcasm:
Can we unleash it on the walking corpses or make it run into pod 64?
No it wasn't! YOU LIE!
Travel back in time and unleash the creature from pod 134.
[i]You go back in time using your special time machine baseball bat, and unleash the thing inside from [b]pod134[b] and it eats you, you're dead now hahahahaha[i]
Yeah zombie dog, great way to start the game!
I kind of lost track... did you guys decide to do something yet, or should I suggest something?
Looks like no one's said anything.
What's your call, Double A? (serious mode)
Any one of those aisles appeal to you more than the other?
The one with garden supplies could have lots of cool stuff, but the hardeware section would too.
Is there any chance we'll be able to search both? Like how many times till we're gonna have to fight?
We still have our house to go to.
I don't want to spend too much time here. Let's check one obviously, two aisles at the most, and then run to the house.
Hardware sounds more useful to me. Go with the hardware aisle.
There's all kinds of useful explody stuff in the gardening section right?
I have an idea... can we go to the hardware section and take our time, then when we're leaving fuel up a riding mower and drive it outta here?
ride on mowers aren't very fast. We'd be able to jog quicker.
I imagine there could be useful things in the gardening section, but I am thinking... whatever is actually USEFUL in the gardening section will also be bulky and heavy.
And we can walk/run faster than a mower. I was thinking power tools that run on batteries, flashlights, crowbars, etc etc.
Useful but small items.
Bah I've always wanted to drive one on a street bashing zombies...
And it'd go much more faster if we could take the speed governor off.
Do we agree that flashlights, crowbars, axes, hammers, things of that nature, are lighter and more useful than anything else we might find in the store?
Matches can work too.
Well we've already got enough weapons to fight our way into Troy, so I think we should look for tools now.
Agreed.
Due to a lack of leadership while I basically abstained all round, I shall step forward and ask the great Lord With Two Minds to please allow our hero to check Section 3, or whichever is the hardware/tools section.
Matches and batteries should be rather easy to find near the front of the store somewhere, near the cash registers, since those are commonly-bought items. But we will see.
Edit: Checked Home Depot.com, here's whats in that section:
Air Compressors, Tools & Accessories
Air Nailers & Nails
Auto
Books & DVDs
Cabinet Hardware
Door Locks
Hand Tools
Hardware & Fasteners
Mailboxes & Signs
Power Tool Accessories
Power Tools
Safety & Security
Tool Storage
Wet / Dry Vacuums
I see several categories of use there.
Pick up a tool belt or three to use for extra storage.
You decide to check section 3 first, deeming the tools there the most useful things you could pick up right now, on your way in you make sure to grab a tool belt which should allow you to hold tools much easier than before, it has 5 extra spaces for tools, and two pouches for holding nails and staples.
In front of you, you see a decimated section, probably ripped apart by people trying to grab whatever they could to survive, the useless items are on prominent display, but there are likely a few gems hidden in there...
As you dig around in the mess of the aisle, you find a nailgun! It appears to be in working order, but you don't have a hose or an air compressor... as you lament over the usefulness of the item you notice it says on the side "Direct drive, power actuated model", you don't know what this means, but you assume you might be able to work around the lack of an air compressor... You insert it into one of the slots on your belt, and pick up enough nails to fill one pouch on your belt. You gain: Nailgun + Nails (x20)
Now you decide to walk over to the small tools, and stock up on smaller, yet still useful tools. You pick up a flathead screwdriver, and a hammer and sling them in your belt, never know when you could use one. You also pick up a pair of pliets, needlenose, something that would be also very common and easy to use. As you are leaving the section, you pick up a small maglite flashlight, it's heavy, durable, metal, and fits nicely in your pocket. Good as a weapon and seeing device, and it doesn't take up any inventory on your belt. You look around this section and depart, back to the two aisles.
There are several other items strewn about in the aisle, but you doubt you'll need door locks, cabnets or mailboxes, unless those little red mailbox levers actually can be used as a weapon.
You briefly ponder this, but dismiss it.
Your search of section 3 is complete.
Inventory:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Due to the high number of items, you are now moderately encumbered, it is harder for you to move around, and your actions each phase will take noticeably longer.
Where do you go, what do you do?
I vote we remove the helmet and the shoulder pads for now.
Can you list the items in terms of heaviest/most encumbering to least?
Then we'll just dispose of the items with the highest encumbrance and the least usefulness. Such as the football gear.
Done, but I would like to remind you that orders are already being done in 15 minutes at most. THey would be increased to maybe 25 at this point... but nonetheless here is your listing.
EDIT:
What I Meant by the above, is that this is in game time, what your character does, how fast he carries out orders... Sorry for any confusion.
Inventory, In order of encumbrance high to low:Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Quote:
Football helmet, with facemask (x1) (Even taking the facemask off would help some...)
Football shoulder pads (x1)
Baseball bat (x1)
Wakizashi (x1)
Shin guards (x2)
Throwing stars on hand (x10) (Because the pouch on your leg makes it hard for you to move)
Folding knives in bag (x10) (That's a lot of knives...)
Bandanas in pockets & bag (x15) (Pockets FULL of thick cloth)
Throwing stars in bag (x20)
Kunai in bag (x20)
Flashlight
Tool Belt (5 inventory slots)
Hammer
Flathead Screwdriver
Needlenose Pliers
Nailgun (Without caps)
Nails (20x)
Storage Locker Keys (x3)
Ok, I didn't dispose of all of the knives or bandanas, but we have a freaking wakizashi. Against zombies, I'm really not feeling the idea of using folding knives, and we won't need THAT many bandanas.
This is my proposed disposal list (in red). Your approval please.
I approve.
Now, do we risk searching another aisle, and becoming more encumbered, or do we go straight home now?
