Re: President Obama Re-Elected
I joined in early 2006, and the total wacko conspiracy theories about Bush did not start become really popular till late 2006, early 2007. That when they started becoming mainstream and in your face, and when posters on this board were going crazy with them. Where was little Mr. Lemmy then?

Well, Lemur has claimed in the past to be impartial, and said that the only reason he posts so much dirt on conservatives is because they are so much worse. If that were true though, he would have been posting all the loony leftist stuff, but he didn't.

Education does not equal intelligence. Must of those States with lower rates of education are also the States in which there is less demand in the workplace for those degrees, so they are not as good an investment.

Or it could be that no one could bring themselves to defend GWB the 2nd by 2006 cos he deserved all of the opprobrium he got

Re: President Obama Re-Elected
I just don't get why the conservatives are so angry with Obama? What has he done so extraordinary wrong to warrant such hate, yes I believe hate is the right word?
Ok, you don't like leftist democrats but I don't remember there was such an outrage with Clinton. Obama didn't really do anything that right or wrong, no matter whether you agree with it or not.
Of the serious issues:
1) He downsized American army in Iraq and Afghanistan, with the intent of pulling out eventually. He didn't pull the rug from under their feet, it's being done gradually. And by getting Bin-Laden, it's basically a simbolic victory in the end.
2) He pushed through half-baked medical care law. Ok, some people may not like it, but that's hardly the end of the world. Do you know how many half-baked bills got through from 1776 to this day, and USA still stands?
3) he talks about taxing the rich more. Ok, I understand why some might think that is a bad idea, but again, I'm pretty sure tax rates changed many times up and down since 1776 to this day and still, the USA's here.
4) he actually improved the image of America in the rest of the world. Conservative or no, you have to give him that.
What I'm saying, even you disagree with what he did, realistically you could say that he reign so far was average to poor. Ok, we lived through 4 years, we'll live through another 4 and then we'll get somebody else. What I don't get is why people feel it was disastrous and why there are talks of secession and the country disintegrating? That's really taking it to the extreme

Re: President Obama Re-Elected
Ah they went mental with Clinton too I remember he was supposed to be a one term Prez too cos it was apparently all Ross Perots fault.
There was congressional gridlock
they had religious nuts going ape over Hilliary, also I remember they tried to impeach him and that Starr fella seems to have been on a one man crusade again him.
GWB got in because Clinton was apparently damaged goods and was supposed to stay away from Gores campaign, I remeber a tv spot where a little girl said she wanted bush to win cos she wanted a prexz to be proud of (in reality she and they really meant an overtly religious prez)
Well they got what they wanted with GWB 2 and it landed them in a hole so big that people actually voted for a black prez twice

Re: President Obama Re-Elected
Yeah, the Congress actually impeached a sitting President for perjury (which is hard to construe as a "high crime and misdemeanor" no matter how hard you squint at the Constitution), so let's not go pretending the GOP was sane and balanced under Clinton.
On an unrelated note, I find it interesting that in the case of both Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney, the public was told that they were better managers than Obama could possibly be. And yet in both cases they were clearly, painfully out-organized and out-strategized.
Surely the first test of the organizational prowess of a candidate would be his or her own campaign, yes? Any thoughts on that?

Ok, but that was over a sex-scandal, unrelated to his political ability, even if his taste in women was questionable, if I am allowed to so notice.
Were there crazy Texans screaming secession back then?

Yes there were but no paid them much heed except an unremarkable politician from Crawford Texas.
Also do you remeber how Newt Gingrich was apparently for a while more powerful than the Prez with his contract and all that other stuff.

That wasn't the point. The point is Obama got elected with help from more than smelly barbarians.

Actually, Lemur was very critical of Loony leftist stuff, because I remember me and him getting into incidents over a few things. In my defence, I wasn't exactly loony, it was more misinformed, funnily enough, from the conservative media.

Yeah, since perjury is a felony and not a misdemeanor. :verycool:
Obama decides the decades long tradition, starting with Reagan, of actually taking questions from the press after re-election is beneath him. Seems we're off to a good start.
Quote:
President Obama delivered a statement today, his first to the White House press corps since winning reelection, calling for a balanced approach to fix the deficit that included cuts and revenue increases.
The president, however, did not take questions, the first time a reelected president has done so since before Ronald Reagan's reelection in 1984.
Remember back when Bush was criticized for not having enough press conferences? Pfft... ~:handball:

Re: President Obama Re-Elected
Can you blame him? The press have had it in for him since the day he was elected.

Posting it to mock it?
Honestly, I don't remember who or in what way the "Jesusland of America" map got posted, although it's possible to find out (forum keeps all backroom threads since 2005), but in this case where Lemur is posting politically silly (and/or over the top) stuff, then him being "there", would mean more sillyness posted.

They should have scheduled the vote for "obstruction of justice" FIRST. When that failed -- and it was the only charge that fit the "high crimes and misdemeanors" standard -- the rest of the sad effort should have been bagged. The follow through as was displayed Renquist's fashion statement for CJ's and nothing else.

Education does, however, indicate a person who has had to learn mental discipline and train themselves to think critically. Education is also the enemy of ignorance.
