Um... When is he gonna finish?
Patience young one (am i right there?), PBEM's are supposed to fit around your life, not take over them.
maybe he has been buggered by the mongols. How old is ythe king?
24 I think (maybe a bit older).
PS: Whoops. Didn't realize I accidentally double posted in my last post.
Patience indeed. On account of birthday celebrations, he'll be out until Monday. He's also being asked to work a little extra so...yeah. Patience.
The king is 38 (I think)
You may have to skip my turn. I just got a new computer (well it was my dad's and it's a 1 1/2 years old but it is such an improvement from my old one I don't care) so I have to get everything set up. It depends how long Omneliup takes but if it is within the next few days I may have to skip.
With the way his schedule is working, that should most assuredly NOT be a problem.
lol
could we have a screenie?
Ok can we please have an updat Demon? how long until we get the file?
Good news and bad news. Good news is that Omneleupi played the game today for a few years. It is currently 1210. Bad news has to do with a battle he fought. He was right in the middle of it when his dinner finished cooking. He sat down to eat and went back to the battle. One small problem. He didn't pause the battle. Needless to say, he'll be playing the game from the last autosave.
He's played, he has a write-up and he's working on a screenshot. He also can't log in from his home computer so that's why you keep hearing all this stuff from me.
My lord oversaw the completion of his father's citadel in Poland when news of a Turkish attack reached our lord. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif Vengeance still fresh from the hated Nordfolk, he hastened to personally oversee the decimation of the hated Turks. Already at war with the Turks, our Byzantine allies have offered to help wherever possible.
Over the next three years, my lord managed not only to sink most of the Turkish ships, but also to build a sizable army. On the fourth year of war, my lord himself led the attack on Constantinople, stolen from our Byzantine allies, and we plan to take it from them This site was chosen because most of the filthy Turkish royalty reside there, including the simpering sultain himself.
With the successful attack on Constantinople, the Sicilians assaulted us but the Holy Father himselfbroke his alliance with them and granted us his blessing. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/gc-angel.gif Again our King marches, this time against the Sicilian lord and his sole heir. In a decisive battle against the Sicilians, none were allowed to escape Greece from my lords wrath. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg.../gc-behead.gif Though their king was not among them http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...sappointed.gif, their empire was crushed none the less.
Meanwhile, his armies in Khazar, after weathering grueling battle after battle, now march upon Turkish soil. They are to start upon Georgia and march straight through Trebizond to Constantinople. While doing so we chased away several Turks from their Eastern lands but they were able to retake Constantinople. My lord has already anticipated this and again mounts a war party against them. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg.../ht_knight.gif
wooh...another one bites the dust
Is he done? If so, where's the savegame?
Also: When do the horde come?
He's not done yet. The Horde hasn't arrived yet but preparations are under way.
In a desperate attempt secure their foothold, the Sicilian king assaulted the castle in Wallachia. Though they were outnumbered 300 to 24, the brave soldiers were successful in holding off the attack. More over, they were able to send the fated arrows unto the king and his only son, quickly punishing their impudence with lethal force. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg.../gc-hanged.gif Their blasphemous actions have earned them both a special spot in the afterlife.
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/gc-devil.gif --HAHAHAHAHAHA
Another blessing has come of this. My lord's son has come of age. Through witnessing his father's battles, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/ht_duel.gif , deeds, and his own studious training, Prince Boleslaw has come of age with great skill. He has a good knack for command, and has acquired a bit of fear to his name. He marches to protect the newly reconquered Constantinople, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg.../ht_charge.gif and his natural skills as a leader show proudly as he rallies the troops.
One important sidenote that hasn't been mentioned is that there is a great need for good generals. As a result of this, Omneleupi entered the free agency market. The pickings were slim but the acquisition of Strongbow FitzGilbert adds much needed depth to Poland's command situation.
That last post was mine. Omneleupi forgot to log off when he was done using my computer and I forgot to log myself in to post. Just clarifying in case anyone thought it odd that he would refer to himself in the third person.
Anyhow, the screenshot is giving us problems. Neither his computer nor my own can open the screenshots he took. Can someone volunteer to take the files and make them display for a screenshot here?
Strongbow Fitzgilbert........isnt he like a 6* general (from experience in English Games), and how did you acquire him?
Oh and send me some of the files in a zip (angli_@hotmail.com or zentra_man@yahoo.co.uk if over 1.5 mb) and tell me which bits you need. Or go download the program IrFanview as suggested by Katank in Kingdom of Aragorn.
How did he buy a general? Didn't know you could do that...
So... Um... Is it my turn? I need the savegame...
Strongbow was sitting in Northumbria and one can only assume that he was feeling despondant over the collapse of the English monarchy. In an effort to alleviate his pain, an emissary was dispatched to offer him the opportunity to serve a new King and a new country with exciting possibilities for expansion. Strongbow's principles were already suspect so the several thousand florins the emissary carried with him were more than enough incentive to him to join the Polish cause.
Nightcrawler: I'll tell him. His workweek is a bit shorter now (From 65 hours to 50) so he's devoting more of his time to Poland. There is a limit though on how quickly he can do this while continueing to post. There is also a limit on how often I can remind him to play Poland. Omneleupi's constraints are work related and mine have to do with my probable lifespan if my best friend (also Omneleupi's girlfriend) should come to believe his gaming interferes with her time with him (currently a limited commodity).
lol...what a way o knick a general. So we havbe northumbira as well now?
Everyone involved apologizes for the delay. I witnessed a pivotal battle and figured I could do one of Omneluepi's write-ups. The year is 1221 and Emperor Konrad the Intellectual Midgit (and please let this not be the name he goes under) is 51.
Also, I figure that since Omneleupi doesn't come here very often and as such isn't likely to read this before the Mongols arrive, I can let everyone in on a little something here. He's not prepared for the Mongols. I asked and he said he was working on it but I am skeptical in the extreme. First, his income is going for other purposes in the near future. That delays troop training for at least a while. Second, he's stretched thin. I don't think he can muster the troops necessary to defend Khazar when the time comes. Third, some of his best troops are inland. Not a big deal in 1221 but if he forgets them there (which he may since he's juggling alot of priorities) then he'll encounter problems in 1230. Fourth, his generals are less than encouraging. His best one is Strongbow Fitzgilbert at 6 stars. He'll have to use him in battle to have a chance. If the Mongols invade in more than one province, (as often happens) he'll have problems finding a second good general. If Strongbow dies in battle, big problems. Strongbow is irreplacable right now. Fifth, Omneleupi is juggling alot of real world priorities. That sometimes makes it difficult to plan things with any consistancy. Sixth, Omneleupi is still kinda new at the game and has never faced the Horde in 1230(this could count as two reasons but I don't want to upset everyone TOO much). He's always playing the Germans and advances to the west at a sort of slow pace. Being relatively new to the game causes its own problems as he lacks the benefit of the sophisticated anti-Mongol tactics I've seen here. Also, inexperience shows. Don't know how it might in this case but we will see.
Also, yes. We do have Northumbria.
Hmmmm....Will he or wont he repel the mongols?...keep tuned people cos summat specials gonna happen. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/bigthumb.gif
This doesn't seem all that good. He might end up making me look really terrible when the mongols blow me away (if he doesn't beat them)...
Omneleupi is playing a battle next to me so I thought I'd give a play by play. (I asked. He's cool with it)

Diary of a nameless soldier:
We approached the last stronghold of Turkish power in sometime around mid-morning. Out in the distance of the forested hills, we saw the remnants of the once mighty Turkish army. Our own forces consisted of spearmen, mounted crossbows, and knights. The heir himself marched at the head of our army.
We thought they would first retreat to a defensible position. We were wrong. Skirmishers charged up at us at loosed volleys of arrows as they were supported by ballista crews. Men fell. Clutching at bloody throats and chests, our brave men fell. But soon we were upon them. Rather than offer battle at this time though, the Turkish army fell back. We caught up to a few of them but even that was a mixed blessing. As we slaughtered a couple of militia units, we were delayed and the Turks ran up the hill and awaited our arrival.
It was at this time that something peculiar happened. The Turkish Sultan, Murad, came down the hill and began taunting us. Numerous were his suggestions regarding what parts of our anatomies we could place in what orifaces and the varied activities and sexual prowess of our respective mothers. He became a magnet. 500 spear toting sargents rushed to meet him and soon he was surrounded with half his guard dead. The day was ours. DAMMIT The day was won We needed but to have a single spear plunged into the dark heart of that royal fool
In vain did our men strive though and soon Murad's plan became clear. His brother led a cavalry charge straight into the backs of our exposed sargents. The mass of spearmen shuddered, stood for a moment, then collapsed. Five units of grizzled veterans loaded their pants like a bunch of green recruits and ran. Twenty valiant knights charged in to relieve pressure on the craven whoresons and give them a chance to rally. The four that survived joined the rout. Another group of knights were impetuous and charged before it was prudent. They too joined the rout. Our lines had collapsed and where was our valiant heir? Still upon the hillock we started upon observing the battle.
Our men were ridden down by Murad, his brother Ali and camels. Reinforcements began to arrive and it looked like we could reform and still win. Our mounted crossbows still rained death on them and they were disorganized after their success. But at the moment our reinforcements appeared, they were deemed to be unsatisfactory. 300 men coming to aid in the fight turned around and went back to camp. I was aghast. Prince Boleslaw was supposed to be an infinately better commander than his father. WHat was going on??
I soon got my answer but it comforted me not at all. Boleslaw had been waiting for the horsemen of the Steppes. Those light cavalry men were meant to make the difference. They failed. They had some initial success and felled Ali but in vain. Murad himself retaliated and fought like ten thousand devils. Another line of our forces routed. Bloody good thing we had so many men with us. With the way Boleslaw was throwing lives away, we'd need them.
(More coming)
We should have MTW radio for the live commentary ;)
Omneluepi just got more free time just as I have less of it. Just keeping y'all informed. He also apologizes for the delay.
