I don't know what I did but I managed to sort it out have to pass it to the Classical file. Phrigians tested well ... They depend on Archers and light cavalry ... don't expect them to do well against the Greeks or the later Lydians. remember that in Greece the word Phrigian became synonymous to slave ... for a good reason.Quote:

Good news, bad news progress report....
Starting with the bad news...
Apparently there is nothing to control the events set in the game that means ... no Persians. The mod will have to be cut short up until the Persians get the Lydians ~540AD.
This Brings some reorganisation to the units in the mod along with a time adjustment.
So the mod starts at:
800AD Early - Geometric
700AD High - Late Geometric
600AD Late - Pro-classical
550AD Game End
So you would say what about Persian Wars, Peloponnesian War and Rise of Macedon....
Well The good news...
A new set of campaigns will be planned using the existing units but in a new file to represent the periods.
New campaign file will have the Persian War this will be the first add on. It will have the Classical period units plus ~8 - 10 for the Persians.
There will be a large Greek faction the Hellenic League composed of Lacedemonians, Athenians, Boetians neutral will be the Argians, Aetolians and the Thesalians (those were hostile actually). The Persians will cover the east part of the map while the Thracians will have a bad time since half of Thracian and all of Macedon belong to the King of Kings.
Some maps will be needed for this (Thermopile, Marathon) if anyone can do them.
Though this looks small in time frame I will let it grow. There were a lot of people that thought Greek City states should unite and I will leave it at that so you can actually unite them.

This will use the high/late units from the Persian Wars plus some more ... Sariza wise.

Yes after the news ... we are there and we are good. The final release is practically ready ... though you will still see the "Viking" names and heroes. But the rest works nicely.
I have move all things related to the packing directory and pack them ... that’s a full day job but I will try to do it in the next days.
For you ... practice some Phalanx fighting cause things are rough and it is all down to tactics

One thing to notice from this last one ...
Check the number of killed vs the captured this is very comon if you fight light armies like the Eastern ones. when they brake free you should stop chasing them unless you have cavalry near by.

Shouldn't the men be able to see over their shields? It looks really good, but the shields take up have there bodies. Maybe trim them up a little? I dont know, just a suggestion.

Your shields are indeed looking a bit large, but I guess I'm telling anything new. To avoid such large graphics I suggest you paint/paste the new shield image over an existing shield image in a BIF. Both must be the exact same size and at the same place.
For example you could paint/paste the Macedonian shield over any round shield existing in the BIF you use for the hoplites. Then you can just reuse the shield coordinates files and you will have a perfect fitting shield without too much work.

Well I actually did lower them a bit so the head is visible but this is not very true either. The Hoplon covered the Hoplite from knee to the chin. The shields are OK Duke John. When you do the hoplites you can use them but put the on a curved shape to give some photorealisom to them http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wink.gif .
My problem is that I calculated the points of movement and now the shield moves a bit odd to the body.
But apart from that ... and other problems we are at 99% for V.1.1 .... I wish I had the descriptions of the units from Rosacrux for the release.
Yeah, but those shields are covering more than their necks, it covers 3/4th the body. I think you should try to fix this, so that it covers the necks. It all looks great man, I am not trying to sound mean, I just am looking forward to this mod, and am trying to help you in anyway possible.

As ShadesPanther noticed I gave the Macedonians the star of Philip but this and the Lacedemonian Shield emblem is the only true simbles I could fined. Most are simbols from shields with the exeption of the Atheneans that I drew from the Athenean Dracma coin (now found in Greek Euros).
So The Thracians and Illirians don't have a new shield or emblem does anyone have something that we can use??
Also I think that the Northern tribes are way too powerfull at the begining due to the large number of provinces they have and the large number of rebel provinces around them. So Peonean faction will be oure 13th faction in V.1.1. They will be something between Thracian and Illirians and they will have access to some units from both sides.
The other broblem is the Ionian cities in the Ionia. They become easy pray fromt the Phrigians and the Lydians. Though they give them some truble. (It took 4 consecutive attacks from Lydians to take Ephesus and then a rebelion enaiolated them). So I am thingking of two or 3 minor factions to play the Ionians Or to give them to some factions so to establish there Identity and generate a cause for war.
What do you say???

The origin of the Celtic Horde known as the Gaul’s to the west and Galatians to the East is in the area of Switzerland so Yes it is way out of the map to the North West. They are also out of time frame.
They can be put in a later patch in the Hellenistic period when they raided Greece and ended up in Central Turkey. The place is now known as Galatia.
In this time frame and map we can make only two minor barbaric factions. these are the same actual race the Scythes or Kymerians. The first raided the northern Thracian areas so they can be inserted in the very northern parts of the map. The latter are known to be the reason of the Phrygian Kingdom destruction. I have read they burned Gordion and they might have been the ones how at some time raided Sardis. It is reported the Sardis was raided by barbarians at some point and most of its population was slained. They were driven off by the Lydians round 500BC when they expanded to capture the entire area of modern Turkey.
At the moment you can have the Scythes as mercenaries.
