Vanilla, I'm not sure about Kingdoms(I know you can't call crusades, though).
Sorry, EF. Game over for Antioch.

Well, sorry EF but I guess your out. If you want, you can be the first person I PM if I need a substitute.
Ouch... that really hurts...
Well done, Zim, that was fast... Real fast...
Thanks, guys.
It was really due to EF's risky decision to put most of his generals in one stack (presumably to make an army capable of fighting mine after he had suffered some losses). With Antioch, holding the last general, already sieged. Well, that was the end.
I would like to second PK. EF, if I ever need a sub for a hotseat game, or I start a new one, you'll be pmed first.
Yeah the Jihad mechanic seems to make up for the horrible auto-resolve the Turks have.
Well played Zim, well played :2thumbsup:
I would disagree PK...
Egypt can also go on Jihad but Doug never did me as much damage and he tried (real hard) believe me... [EDIT : in the 1st game]
It's the sheer mass of troops that surely did EF in...
I tried to help towards the end but it was too late, the mass of troops was too much...
So Zim, is the Jihad over ? What did you gain from it ?
I would also like to add that I think we have the first player-faction destroyed in a MP Hotseat game. :2thumbsup:
Zim can chalk a "kill" marker on his monitor now. :laugh4:

:jawdrop:
oh dear, you weren't quite as easy to fight as the player in the last game was :sweatdrop: .
Well done and thanks for being a good sport :2thumbsup: .
Maybe now I'll have time to start up the old multi-faction PBM again?
Drat, aside form the screen, my monitor is black. I guess if I used real chalk... :clown:
Tristan, I got experience for my troops and some 5,000 florins. The jihad is over for now.
You are correct, it was outnumbering EF that did him in. I took advantage of free upkeep, lots of mercs in my territory (none extra for Jihad like in vanilla, though), and the Jihad stacks' double move rates to always maneuver myself into having a few stacks on any one of his. This way I could win with few losses.
If he could have fought my armies in detail, he'd have slaughtered them with his better troops (indeed, as long as it was single stacks fighting, he did).
I had 5 stacks on Antioch. Even though it had a good general and a large, strong army, because I otunumbered him so much I had 21 losses for 600 kills, and the otehr 600+ of his men died automatically because they were in a settlement.
With the battles autocalced, army maneuvering is everything.
Tristan, I didn't see any of your men in my or EF's territory. What kind of help did you send?
Also, you left King's Gift completely empty. Not sure if that was on purpose or not. :clown: I guess we could take turns sacking it. Poor town.
 EF, it was a good game. For a while, when we were just trading stacks, I thought I'd lose the battle of attrition. It was only using the extra move from the Jihad that enabled me to chase that four general army around. Had our situations been reversed, I have no doubt the same would happen to me.
In fact, the flu made me make some mistake like forgetting to leave one unit in that town...
I expected to use the army that took KG but it was too far, too late...
Like Pegasus Bridge...
Tristan I guess my little plan of ganging up on Doug while I held off the Turks didn't work out quite so well this time round, and what about Phillip of France!!!!! Such a shame, I blame Stig for making us start again :clown:
anway I'll still be following this thread and now  to Zim as the almighty hotseat PBM god!
What's "king's gift"?Quote:

No problem, EF... I knew it wuld be different even before we started...
We all learn from our mistakes...
Perhaps you had it too easy the first time around...
A town of about 2000 people on Jerusalem's northern border. My spy noticed it was empty and I sacked it with a heavily depleted Mujahawhatsit unit.Quote:

Aw, shucks :embarassed: . I just saw how desperate the situation was, made a drastic and desperate decision, then pounded relentlessly into EF's territories and armies. No real strategy.Quote:

What Doug and Tristan did in the last game, that took finesse and skill.
I've the habit of renaming the captured settlements...Quote:

haven't done it yet for Crusades...
The name derives from the fact that it was intended as a gift to EF... a tiny bit of help
Don't worry about spoilers...
I have a hunch about what shady deals were made behind the scene.
Something along the lines of :
A :"Feel free to take my northern provinces while I deal with that pesky neighbor."
B : "Thanks a lot, be assured that I won't interfere in your quarrel."
Replace A and B by who you know and Bang !!!
You can rename settlements? I thought the stuff in the Teutonic thread was just "story". I didn't know you actually changed the names in the game. Cool. How do you do it?Quote:

PK On the settlement screen, just click your mouse near the name of the town on top, and you can change it.
I'd be delighted to be enlighted, and I'm sure I'll learn something in the process.
I began to think along those lines long ago but there was nothing I could do...
I use to rely more on the strat map than the diplomacy, my failing perhaps...
And now i'm off to bed
It's 10PM and I was up at 4 AM...
Wow, I just noticed a faction lost in turn 5. :dizzy2:
Sorry, guys. My thumb drive, which I use to switch files from my gaming computer to my one with wireless, is acting up. I managed to go on dial-up on the gaming computer and email myself the Britannia file, downloading it to the other computer, and reuploading it, but my dial-up is being less cooperative.
I'll find a way to get that save up before Doug finishes up his Teutonic Order game turn tonight.

Finally! :2thumbsup:
Crusade-6-1 is up.
And it was something to see "Kingdom of Jeruasalem" pop up instead of "Kingdom of Antioch."
