I just had a thought: As long as we don't go around saying "we're after the villians blood" and I hide my holy sword we might be able to run around the world unmolested, I dont think the villians even know we are the slightly less bad guys yet and while they arent bothered about casualties none of the real bad guys are actually killing randomly, as long as we dont run into the alistair guy we could be running around under the villians noses allmost indefinitely.
Happy now?

That's correct for now it can be pretty easy to lay the foundations for kind of an "underground movement". If Leon surrenders quickly to the army most of the army will probably move on and Leon will be OVyn's territory but for now it'll be pretty easy to "blend in".

(The idea is that the person whose house she was just forced into either is, or is related to, the archmage mentioned in Ser Gilford Millicent's backstory, the one who created the 'teleport Thomas to me' horn. Also notice that she has no magical items on her person currently, having used up her entire vial of enchanted sand.)
Either way, you don't need to go anywhere near Birun. I get the feeling, from shlin's story, that Birun isn't a place you want to be going to at the moment anyway.
Also, I agree with TLD about loving the sheep sidequest. Heck, forget 'sidequest'. Finding the sheep is the true goal of this party. I reckon Boreale gets defeated in the first third of the book, and then the rest of it is SheepQuest. Boreale gets written out completely in the movie adaptation.

Actually I don't think they'd have that much of a problem if we can come to an agreement that we need to work together through this...
You don't really like clerics though, right?
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [Sign-ups]
LOL, that's great. :beam: But trust me, I'm not gonna try to drag the story in that direction; it's just a running gag and a realistic fixation of Glungurd's sheltered mind.
OK, so it is OK with everyone else in the capital if our group gets on out of there? Amsel, you don't need us to rescue you anywhere?

"...You know glungurd if you help me restore my family to power I could buy you new sheep."

Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [Sign-ups]
Meh.....its more Paladins actually....
With clerics, I just laugh at them and bad mouth their gods.
You know, pointing out that I was able to...nearly...wreck Lassara.
But, Paladins have those nasty pointy swords.
And they're normally blessed.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [Sign-ups]
what if the cleric casts "turn undead?"

Chances are Morangul would realize what it is before the rest of the Happy Tree Friends (that name is staying).
If it wasn't one of the only ways to destroy Vayne, he wouldn't like it all.
@Seon: Pheh! That measly spell only works on the mindless, souless undead, like zombies and other such undead I used as my minions!
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [Sign-ups]
You know, considering you have the staff of worms you could still have some minions. Sure they'd drop dead afew minutes later but still...
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [Sign-ups]
Greyblades, according to your character description, your family is based in Tar Cantun, right? I think it's logical we will end up there at some point. Presently, I think we should at least run into the princess and her protectors. TLD, they are somewhere on the edge of Lake Birun, correct?

I could find away to recharge it....
But if I find a large enough magic source I could create another phylactery, regain my necromantic powers, and recharge my staff!
The first two are more important however.

Correct, southeastern shore... just stumble around there, one of the sentries will notice you and since you have a mmeber of House Targryn with you they'll lead you to the hideout...
Also, fluffy, the way I know Amalia (and I know her pretty well since I kinda invented her) she'll be happy to point out that you nearly wrecked Lassara

Yea....but it weren't cuz of of a durned cleric....
Just a Paladin....who happened to have one of the weapons forged from neril.

Yeah. And on the other hand I am also having a hard time seeing her join up with people who command demons and wreck cities for fun. So there. The lesser of two evils is probably to be a do-gooder, although she won't like it one bit.

It's actually a question we'll have to adress, can we have characters join Boreale? I've played both kind of FRPGs with and withouth player controlled antagonists and I have to say from experience the ones with antas didn't work out that well...

A good role though, since most of the royal treasury might be inaccesible right now... although the guard probably has some hidden sources of money
hey most chars bring less to the party so cheer up

I can't see why anyone would want to join Boreale, to be honest... Alyssa might enlist as a sellsword if she bumped into the army (but only because the alternative would probably be death or rape), but I imagine she'd leave/desert if given the opportunity once she realizes what is going on (remember, nearly nobody knows what is happening. She might very well enlist in the army without even knowing that they are led by the same people who commanded demons, I think...)

Can we do some looting first? There's got to be an abandoned bank around the market somewhere.

My character may not like siding with the princess, nor the demons... Maybe he'll strike out by himself. (Or with Glungard)
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [Sign-ups]
I guess Rufus wouldn't have a problem with it. Glungurd would probably think that's normal among humans and the buildings with the many shiny coins, so I guess it's up to Gilford if he would let the squire rob a bank secure funds in a way that's slightly illegal.

He'll probably consider it "more gold for us means less gold for the enemy". Honestly I'm abit concerned that with the new overlords my accounts could be suspended or worse put on the "Alert authorities if he tries to withdraw" list.

Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Depowered though he might be Cantun's ghost is still linked to the shard, I'd think he'd be pretty pissed if someone tried to steal it.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Doubt he'd be able to stop me stealing or using it though.
@ TLD
Grrrrrr..... :P
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
The gods or Cantus can't really stop anyone from using the shards jsut as the gods of the Void can't stop Ovyn from using Dargantas sword...
Anyway... the whole backstory of Rufus gives me a little headache as picturing a grand House like Targryn giving out free reign to kill Lassaran military si somewhat difficult... what I could see is a group of nobles that was looking for glory and got a bit carried away but I can't really see that sanctioned by the chief of House Targryn... who doesn't even hold teh power to sanction such acts anyway...

Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
It's a powerful house. I'm sure he could bribe the army commander, especially if he is corrupt.
It's the second powerful house right? I don't see it getting there and being noble and honourable. I bet he's done bad deeds. In my eyes, the major houses would do this. And they'd cover up the evidence. They're like mafia.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Still doesnt explain why he would order the deaths of his own soldiers.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
They're not his soldiers, they're Lassaran soldiers. Bottom rung cannon fodder at that. I'm sure the commander could be swayed to look the other way. A few measly scouts that a just bare recruits won't be missed. Especially the fact that none of them are high born. (Though I will change it if I have to.)
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Then you're blaming the entire house on something an uncle or cousin did? I guess that makes sense but why go after someone who was way too young to have been one of the nobles who did it?
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Yes, he's blaming the house on something a member of the house did. He went after Thomas because he was part of the house and was probably the best chance he'd ever have for revenge for the act that (He sees) Targryn house did to him.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
What you forget is that House Targryn was the second house in the realm from the beginning and sure, along the way through the centuries some nobles will have done shady things to protect or further theor power and influence but they would do not-so-noble things for a reason not to give some stupid young ones target practice... I can see these guys getting wild and attacking a group of scouts in the desert and then the head or some high person of the house covering it up by calling the scouts bandits and so on... what I can't see is that they were allowed to attack the lassaran military from the beginning ;)
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Right. Will edit it a bit then.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Not exactly well versed in inter-house politics is he? That works I guess, but why should I let him live? Even ignoring the whole trying to kill me thing, noone in the group will think its a good idea to keep the guy with a grudge against nobility in the same camp as the most important noble of all, i.e. the princess.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
He wouldn't be. He's been an outlaw for ten years. :P
He didn't try to kill you. He wanted to take almost everything away from you and leave you to whatever fate you have.
He'll probably leave the camp. After stealing the sword.
How are you going to decide whether th let him live though? When do you have a say in it?/What say do you have in it?
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Well he's the only one able to hold the magic sword for one (seriously he's linked to the sword; read the bit about when he picked up the swordm particularly the bit about the warm feeling on his hand, I've been planning this since I got the go ahead to take it) Thats going to reign in some points in the groups decision making process.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
So you and only you is the only person that can wield the sword? I hope not. Why only you?
Surely the Lich could use it (If he wanted to).
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]
Hmmm, I'm going to have to spit it out and say that I'm not really used to this style of roleplaying.
I used to roleplay alot in MMOs like World of Warcraft, and was used to a quite strict set of rules regarding actions (or emotes as they are in WoW) against other characters; you'll notice that I'll never put words into your character's mouths unless they've already been said by you, nor will I assume that because I fire an arrow at you it hits the target, like how I allowed Fluffy to decide what happened when Tah fired at him.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's in my interests to relay how my character responds to you, whether that be with word or weapon, just as I love to see how you respond to Tah's actions; only you guys know your characters, and the same applies to me with Tah/Raina.
This kinda leads me onto the HTF posts I read just now, which I enjoyed but kinda found a gripe with; I guess that I have a problem with the notion that Raina would leave her fallen mistress' side to protect the fey... if Tawariell was in fine health then the aistar would probably protect the fey without a second thought, but otherwise it just wouldn't happen.
I don't mind Raina being used in the manner that Seon has (he probably has most cause for roleplaying with her, as someone who can talk to beasts), but I'd like y'all to be mindful of her characterisation as much as Tah's; the current situation leaves me with a problem of how to proceed with my next post, as Tah/Raina were going to slink away while the others were engrossed with one another.
-
Re: Lassara - Shards of Neril - OOC and Signup Thread [In Play / Sign-ups]

I've been thinking of a way for that to make sense for a while, this is what I came up with:
It's a magic sword that links itself to the first person who uses it and was only useable by the wielder until he died, its been passed down the royal family over the generations and after the last king died it was supposed to be linked to the princess when she came of age, but she fled before taking it. When thomas took it it linked to him instead by accident. Basically you'd have to kill my character to use it otherwise it gets violent.
