I just finished to compile musics for napoleon troops. I have about 12 of them.
Anybody has english, russian, austrian, and prussian songs used in combat?
These will be very nice addition to the Napoleonic Mod.
I am also working on the tech tree and it will be finalized very soon.
Any wishes, comments or other about the tech tree and the units buiding is more than welcome http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/smile.gif

THat should work.
"Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle" rides again?
I have completed a major portion of translating the camapign to the VI platform, all the province assignments are complete, just some tweaking to the names files and I have been able to declare new trade goods to the VI campaign so we can add what we like this will prove interesting and add a nice touch to the mod,For My fellow Lords in regards to the mail I sent I thank those that did respond keeping in touch at this stage is crucial we all have our assigned tasks and should proceed ahead, if any questions or problems arise of course contact each other immediatley. Thanks to all. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif
This is promising news Lord of Storms.
I can't wait for your final release of this mod
The new trade goods sound particulary cool, anything that makes this mod feel more neapoleonic, and not just Medival with a napoleonic shell is welcome.
Thanks for sticking with this mod guys it looks brilliant so far http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wave.gif

Good thing, Lord Krazy, then that there are 'persons' who are on good terms with members of the CA team. And for someone who is desperately looking forward to the first non beta compilation such as myself does his best to spread the word....
Your quite welcome Brother D. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif I cannot tell you how many Mods have fell by the wayside due to half hearted commitments and lack of communication. The Lords are trying to do the best job possible in offering you a quality Mod. Lord Krazy and Lord Black Adder have broken new ground in unit animations and have brought Movable ArtilleryWhen the doubters said it could not be done and more is to come when the people who have created the very game we love to play and Mod offer there praises that says alot http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif With the time we had to wait for VI to be released and then to acclimate to the new setup I can honestly say things are on track and progressing forward. And to you and all our supporters We The Lords Thank You for your patience in the Mods development. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gifQuote:

Just a quick update on the Napoleonic Mod Campaign , The Campaign as a whole is slowly coming together, we are learning to take advantage of the new features offered to us in VI and this will make the campaign have a good overall Napoleonic feel to it . New trade goods are being added. The portraits are all being "Nappified" http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif and Key players of the Napoleonic era are going to have a portrait to match there name. More to come soon http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wave.gif
Just a quick question. On the Strategic map, will there be new agents and ships for the Napoleonic period? And have you got all new buildings for the tech tree as well?
Cheers,
Derfel
Greetings Bro. D Our goal is to have everything we can change to have a Napoleonic look and feel to it I can say Yes to the Ships and Agents/Pieces these will be changed to reflect the era, as to the buildings we have found some good models. Lord Le Bob is doing an excellent job in working up a new tech tree. Thanks for your continued interest and support http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gifQuote:

Um.... and there is just one other thing http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/smile.gif Could you possibly please give us a rough date of when the next unit beta is going to be released to the masses?
Quick question (I know another one)
You wouldn't happen to have any idea yet how big the final file will be to download?
It's just that i am on a 56k modem, and I'd hate to not be able to get this mod if it turns out to be HUGE or something.
Tenkisora, I will be back to playing Nap Mod Mp as soon as my exams are done and I don't have to waste valuable MP time revising. Don't give up hope, I will always be willing to play it.

Hi,
I have been monitoring your mod for some time now, ever since I first stumbled across it. I have eagerly downloaded every version up to 1.7, and I just couldn't help but offer a few words of encouragement.
I love your mod. You have all done a fabulous job creating it. I actually play it in preference to the original Medieval game. Don't get me wrong, Medieval is quite a good game. But I guess it was the game we had to have before Rome : Total War.
But seriously, back to your mod. It is brilliant, and I can't wait to get hold of the completed version.
What would be heaven? Napoleon: Total War using the Rome:Total War game engine
Keep up the good work. People like you extend the pleasure that we get out of games, and give us much more enjoyment from them.

Oh so I can still play 1.7 YAY
To GreasePaintMonkeyBrains
You defenetely can help I was making some historical battles (Marengo) but since I worked on the tech tree, the music, and other stuff I let this down a little....
So here are something you could help with. Maybe you could lead in the development of some historical campaign. Starting maybe with the italian campaign (first Napoleon campaign)...I can help with the modding and finding some info.
To all, Check the Napoleon mod web site at http://napoleontotalwar.tripod.com
What can you find there, Starting tomorrow, you will have an update on where does the mod stand, some screenshots and maybe more if I have time.
The mod is progressing well as LOS mentioned. The music is done and will be probably a 7 Meg file (mp3) that will need to be changed into wav (wav are way to big to be downloaded).
If you have any oilpainting images of units please let us know and we will see if we could use them.
Thanks for your interest.
Lord Le Bob

22 you can still enjoy the Unit Betas by simply doing another install of MTW alone just change the name of the new MTW folder when prompted and your on your way http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gifQuote:

I used to do that alot in MTW but with VI I am kinda lost and I'd appreciate any help. Are there any other txts besides the above three in which I have to add something?
Becuase I've gone through the whole thing and I got the message "unknown Unit in column 2 row 183" - which is actually the first of the custom units I added.
Am I doing something wrong? bifs and txts are all in the appropriate folders.
Ros you got the idea. The error sounds like
you have messed up the prod11.
Have you just added the lines from the mtw prod11
to the VI prod11? If so this will happen.
If you can be bothered you will have to
add the units youself to the prod11.
i.e copy existing unit from VI prod11
add edit the name and add the other entries.
It's what I'm doing right now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif

I would like to see a few other versions

Hi. I just downloaded your superlative Mod, and I am really enjoying it. Your dedication and commitment shines through in the gameplay and presentation.
Anyway, I wonder if you can help me. One of the things I was excited about was the new moveable cannon. Unfortunately, when I take one in battle it only comes with 2 crewman, so it can't fire because there are 'not enough crewmen'. Also, they can't move. Is this a bug, or am I just being stupid? Thanks for any help http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif
(BTW, could you include Horatio Hornblower as a character in the campaign, maybe? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wink.gif )
I have done a fair bit of troop stats balancing by now. The Crusaders_Prod_Units11.txt and the Projectiles.txt have been sent to the other Lords with the modified values. They should be available anytime now.
Cavalry and inf stats are very well balanced now. Am working on arty. Next release soon.
-Cuirassier
I think hornblower is fictional.
You have the mod then come and play online, playing the AI is rather dull as they can beaten very easily. Arrange with a friend or something to play some games. Im always willing after 7:00pm english time.
Yes and get more people and the learn the way of the bayonet and muzzle
If you guys are trying to make a campaign out of this in VI, then there is a bug you might want to consider. Currently, every king in both the Viking campaigns and the regular campiagn in version 2.0 dies at the age of 56. It seems to me that such a bug would likely shorten the time a person could play a campaign if it is not fixed. CA is not planning on fixing this for a good long while so it may be incumbent on you if the campaign idea is to succeed.
Not too sure about Old Nosey being such a statesman. If I remember, he was a bit of a duffer at school and so forth and his family was highly dissapointed in his academia. He had really no other choice than the military since affairs of state didn't suit him. I would say a maximum of 3 Accumen for good old Wellers.
On the other hand, Napoleon ought to have a full 9 stars in his Accumen and no other ruler should come close to that.
Just my two cents.
Hi Guys,
The napoleontotalwar.tripod.com site is unaccessible to me for some unknown reasons to make changes...bordel de merde
SOrry about that...
Here are some buidings that will be added to the tech tree (unless ojections)
- Sugar Beet factory
- Administration (will replace castle)
- Light and heavy Cavalry training center
- College of Art (improve happiness people)
- college of Science (improve Weapon)
- School of Officer (improve discipline and moral)
- College of medicine (improve moral)
- Bank
- Recognition/Merit Office (recognize elite soldiers)
- Improve infrastructure
- Scientific expedition
- and many of the original buildings
If you wish to have a building included it is time now.
Coldstream thanks for the input , these pics were just to give folks an idea of what we are doing, the final stats will be adjusted accordingly before the Campaign is released. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gifQuote:

Is there going to be any "Rank Bonus" or something to represent troops going into square formation to fend off those bloody great Frogs on horseback, or are our poor chaps on foot going to be just buggered when the Cavalry is roaming?
As a matter of fact who did actually have the best and finest cavalry?
Oh by the way i have ADSL now, any of you guys want a massive huge unit 4v4 id be happy to host.
Of the major European powers (Austria, France, Gr. Britain, Prussia & Russia) one could make a very strong argument for Austria. Beyond this I believe the best European cavalry of the period came from the smaller Germanic states. Aside from the loss of prestige, political influence and manpower the defection of Saxony and other Germanic states from the side of France to the Allies in 1813-1814 also deprived Napoleon of the best sources of quality horses and horsemen.Quote:

Just a point about Welly being a poor administraitor.
I tend to dissagree. Yes, he did seem to have a poor grasp of subjects at school, but what do Lattin and Greek realy have to do with running a country?
Wellington was a master of organising his supplies, in fact he had to be so good that his army never needed to pillage from the local population.
Wellington also had experieince of governing in India, his Brother was Governer over there, and together they effectively ran the country.
I think 3 Acumen is a little underestimating his skills. 5 or even more is around about my opinion.
Oh, and great news about the progress for the mod. I can't wait. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif
I was commenting in terms of the quality of the horses and the overall training and discipline of the riders. If we're talking purely about leadership then I would say France's cavalry was the best.Quote:

I have posted this as a separate thread. No replies as yet. In desperation, I am posting the questions here. Hope someone from CA takes a look at this:
***********************************************************
I am starting this separate thread as the original Napoleonic thread has become too long and it is possible for the signals to get buried in the noise.
This is a humble request for help from the CA programmers and designers to make the Napoleonic Mod for MTW as realistic as possible.
My background in the Napoleonics Wargaming goes back to the TalonSoft hex based games. I have played Waterloo:Napoleon's Last Battle from BreakAway Games as well. All the while the longing was there for a true 3D Napoleonic game that takes into account terrain features, has decent sprites, has weather properly modelled etc etc. It was a recurring wet dream for me to imagine how it would look if somebody does a Napoleonic game on the Shogun engine.
Then came MTW with the thundering cannons and fusil-wielding musketeers. I found myself ever so close to the dream of 3D Napoleonic nirvana. The start of effort by Lord Krazy and the other good lords to do a Napoleonic Mod was the final spark. I threw myself into the fray to contribute my little iota of modding goodness.
When I look at the MTW engine for use in a Nap mode, I almost cry; it is almost there but not quite You know that feeling when a beautifully crafted tool would almost fit your needs but not quite The story is the same with the MTW engine. We need a few changes before we could faithfully simulate Napoleonics using this jewel.
To begin with, cannons were not movable. The good Lord Krazy fixed that. We now have horse guns that gallop along with charging cavaliers This is a good example of playing around with the graphics and the unit data files to get a new unit. There is other stuff that would require something more drastic. So enough of the rambling and let me come to the point.
We, the modders that are working on the Napoleonic mod for MTW would like to get some help from the CA programmers and producers on the following topics. It is understood that not all of the requests could be honoured but hey I still believe in Santa Claus We also understand that the schedules for the programmers are extremely tight but we believe that the Napoleonic mod would only give the MTW longer legs.
To aid clear communication, I have numbered the wish list items below. I have also classified them into two categories, easy and challenging. Without further ado here it comes:
1* (Easy) In the tactical battle screen does the AI have an unfair advantage if I set the difficulty level at EXPERT? When tuning the troop stats I always set the difficulty level to EXPERT in my custom designed battles (for example to test the melee results between heavy and light cavalry). I have a feeling that the AI has an unfair advantage at the EXPERT setting. Is this true?
2*(Easy) Column #45, Unit Specialties Labels in the Crusaders_Unit_Prod11.txt has the following strings and enumerated values for some of the units :"DEFENDING_RIVER(1), DEFENDING_CASTLE(1)". Are there any other strings that the AI would recognize? For example "DEFENDING_FOREST(4), DEFENDING_BUILDING(3)". I am trying to make light infantry deadly in the woods, forests and other broken terrain. I have not found a way to fix this. This might help.
3*(Easy) Lancers and heavy cavalry had an advantage when attacking infantry. Lancers had a longer reach and the heavies could just break through by sheer weight. There is a column that says Cav_Attack_Bonus. But none for Infantry_Attack_Bonus. How do I give an infantry attack bonus to an unit?
3*(Challenging) How to make infantry form square when being charged by cavalry? The square formation should be nearly impervious to a cavalry charge but should be vulnerable to volley fire from deployed infantry and should be very vulnerable to artillery. I have played quite a few battles with the Napoleonic mod on the MTW. The inf vs cav interaction is just not right When charged by cavalry, infantry almost always runs away. Rather it should form squares and weather the charge.
Could we change the animation for one of the formations, say the wedge, and change it into a square formation? The wedge is not a Napoleonic formation anyway. Is it possible to change the animation for the W command from a wedge to a hollow square and give anti-cavalry bonus to the unit only when the unit is in this formation? If we could it would be perfect.
Enough for now. More coming later. Thanks for a wonderful game.

TenkiSoratoti
Um, all oficers in the British army bought their commisions. Only a very, very small number were promoted from the ranks. It was the way the British army was run. Most of the soldiers would only trust an officer who had 'true breeding'.
The French on the other hand promoted frequently from the ranks and several of Napoleons Marshalls were originaly Privates. Napoleon wanted quality, not men with money.
Hence "lions lead by donkeys", and the war may have arguably been over sooner.Quote:

I can help you with the first concern.
I am prety positive that on Expert seting the AI gets a moral bonus of +2or3 (not certain on which). I would suggest that you test units on Normal or Hard, as on easy your troops gain the moral bonus.
I thought as much. Thanks o good brother. Now if only I could find out how make the AI form squaresQuote:

I am the (official) stats adjuster for the Lords group. Indeed I have given the infantry some additional bonus for using deep ranks. This in a crude way simulates the square. But not quite.
Have you played Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle?
No, I havn't tried it. Do you recomend it?
The only Napoleonic Computer games i posses are the BattleGround series Napoleon in Russia, and another game that i can't quite remember as it is boxed away somwhere, it was based on the 1813-14 campaign I think.
