we shld hold a contest. post a pic, everyone mod it, post it, do a poll on it for both technical ability and overall theme-content, two separate items.
now, what the winner(s) would get, i dont know, a poke with a pointy stick maybe, but might be fun.
with the two categories, you wouldnt have to be a photoshop wizard to necessarily win at least the content side it; even just adding a clever caption might get ya in.
i suppose you'd have to run two polls, though, since you can only vote once in a poll thread, one for the technical merits and one for the content merits.
might be fun.

ah, learned a new technique today, soly...or rather, refined it a bit. wish i'd had it a couple days ago when i did that 'sonya liston' pic....translucent layers; great for adding homemade filters and textures. little by little i'm getting better at this.
btw, that p-shop contest i entered...didnt make the top 5 and that's all they posted. tough competition. some of these guys are damned good, so no regrets about not winning. the choices they made were pretty darn good.
i've also been watching this guy on screensavers that shows techniques with photoshop. that guy is REAL good. and watching him work with photoshop, i can see that it way outclasses paint shop pro. never realized there was such a big difference in the two programs. tempted to get p-shop now, even with the stiff price tag.

That last one...maybe you should shrink it's physical size. Not only is it pixelated, but at that resolution - even on my puny 15" monitor, the editing work shown by the discoloration around the mole is obvious, and the eyebrows have a slightly less obvious case of the same thing...

hmmm, what desktop settings are you using? cause it looks great on mine. maybe i shld have gone .gif instead of .bmp if it's showing up that way on yours. you running in 256 color mode, by any chance? i think that may be it or something like that. i can try converting it and see what it looks like.

see if that isnt a little better now. i cleaned it a bit more and changed it from a .bmp file of over 600,000 bytes to a .gif of under 200,000. that shld work better in more desktop color bit modes.

i just use "the gimp" its a great little editor with a lot of great features, it used to be for linux, now there is a windows version and its free

i use the windows version, but only because i use windows, my brother has the linux version, and its exactly the same.
its a free alternative to the ones you pay for, and be warned windows users, the windows version is still set up like the linux one, so you need to get used to the different interface
