Hi all,
A good source for portraits can be the archaic "Kuri" and "Kores". Kuri were statues of yang men and Kores of yang women. They are excellent of anonymous portraits and there are quite a few of them.
For the barbarians it is nearly impossible to get anything check the Skythans. For the Lydian, Phrygian, and Persian we can use mostly the Persian and Lydian wall carvings.

Since Marshal Murat asks I will give you something on where we are. The Persian was units are almost there and most parts too. But due to resent developments (DJs units) and other the development was brought to a holt. In time I will have something to show you.
Hellenes, I was looking to the Patrician review panel buildings. I have the mod, great one. The buildings are nice, but they are almost roman. I'm thinking in a way to produce new greek style icons, but Komninos has a word on this also.

I have stumbled on a CA bug ... when you define a new map "Hellenic" and you make a directory "Hellenic" with specific maps it works OK. BUT if you have more than one campaign files like we have ... then in single combat it replicates the files one for every campaign file. So if you put castle maps in that folder you end up with n times the number of maps that you had. So I have taken the decision to totally wipe the MTW files for the Ancient mods.

Maybe you´re pleased to hear, that I´ve took the time and already have some castleseries ready.
Its faster to make a castle then I thougt.
But not many landscapes have the abillity for a castle.
Not tested yet, but I think that they´ll function ok.
I built 3 castle levels: From fort, Keep to Castle with all upgrades.
I know that the castle level is not in the HTW included, but maybe komninos could add it, if its possible.
Most are southern european, but I also have dark age and islamic.
Also if you change the architecture and terrain with the startpos txt. then you have several more castles, like CA did.
8 series of castles are finished and tested.
Should I make more?
I definitly will not make panoramic pictures.
The Ultimate paint 2 (my try and buy version) is not working any more (this software was recomandet to make them).
So if you want to have this pictures, then I hope that someone of you´ll make them.

I checked the Battle-folder: CA made 12 different castle series.
Looks more, if you play them.
The possibility to define them as arid, temperate, lush, dark age european, southern european, eastern european, islamic, dark age multiplizised this 12.
So you could make very many different castle maps.
I have 9.

Kimmerian or Skythian were steppe tribes living in modern Ukraine. At there high they occupied from north of Danube in modern Bulgaria, Rumania till the Caspian Sea. They mast be related to the Germanic tribes that later rolled over the Roman Empire and most probably o the Huns. They put a lot of pressure to the Thracians in the north, they destroyed the Phrygians in the east and the Persians had trouble with them.
They were used as mercenary forces in both Greek and Persian Armies. They were excellent archers, light troops and cavalry forces. They had excellent relations with the Greeks enjoying the wine and the gold from trade. They were also excellent in Gold craft.
During the Persian wars the Skyth’s that were in Greece refused to take part in battle and remained as city guards while the Greek armies went to the front. The reason was that many Skyth’s were in Persian service and they will not fight brothers. Most probably they plaid safe fearing the Greeks will lose big time.

01_01_00,01_01_01,01_02_00,01_02_01,01_03_00, ... up to 01_05_00 for now and finaly we might get a 01_05_01 as final upgrade. They go in steps of two.

Maybe you wonder, why all the threads with the castlemaps are gone, were I anounced the links with new versions.
It´s because the versions of the castle pack became too many (sorry).
I don´t like certain insects (bugs): I don´t want to hear now: "Hey why do you release it so fast".

The mod is a historical one so these things will not be there ... and don't worry the Persian armies though vast they are thin in armour, shields and spears facing the Phalanx is more than a challenge
But it looks like you have not followed all my mods ... try to search for Trojan Wars ... One of the ideas was to build gods and special hero units ... all single man units that would be able to tear apart entire units

Well good news ... the Buildings are ready after some minor problems ... I have play tested them and they work fine. The problem is that now the Tech tree is more complicated than ever and I have to go though the units and find out what looks good and what doesn't. As I have it, it takes forever to build some hoplites if you start from 0 so I will try to make some scaling.
I have done the changes to the new part of the mod so I have to port the changes to the old part of the mod, and then work on the buildings for different periods (this will take some time). After all is well I will relish a beta of the now V.2 ... this is going to be a big download (since DJs units will be in it). After we get it all worked out the final will be available to public with 3 new time periods to cover the Persian, Peloponnesian wars and the Rise of Macedon ... the final chapter of HTW.

BTW … DJ when can I expect the final images for the hoplites … sorry for the pressure but have to know so I can take them into consideration too.

As I understand it we need a new DeadPageCoords file ... I will try to get it some time soon. For Sariza / Persians screens you will have to wait a bit longer though ready I am dealing with other things too. (like writing a moding guide "Form nothing - to a campaign")
If its impossible to add the landscapes to specific provinces: An other possibility would be to rename them, like in the startpos.txt and make them randomly like CA did.
It would be a pitty, but without them it would be more a pitty.

I am involved in an attembt of localising MTW VI 2.01
in greek now the main problem are the fonts wich i tried to change in the tga files BUT once im cone with editing a blurr area appears around the letters and if i try them in the game it CTD http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/frown.gif

I tweeked a little the fonts, not edited the tgas, that will be a huge work with no satisfatory results. The idea was to pik a diferent style font, not the Medieval style default. That is a important tip for moders, to give a better atmosfere for classic ancient mods. So Il post later a step by step guide for all. But you will get allways a english text.

On other news ... I am on final debugging of the files for the V.2.0 of the original. Some crushing bug still exists some place and some fiddling has to be done with some values to bring balance.
So I would expect the first Beta of V.2.0 to be out by next week. Many things will change till the first V.2.0 mostly in the feeling of the game and its graphics that Antalis and flip are working on.

Did you pack the MTW in a single zip file? That is great news if true for the people that have problems with the installation. Any way I found a big web space from a friend and the v.2.0 will come on a single file.
Any way I still have a problem with v.2.0 (for some reason the if you select Thracians or Peoneans the game crushes ????) so a beta will be out soon for the gifted beta testers / moders to find what on earth is causing me such grief. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/frown.gif .

From experience the main problems comes with the map image. In the Textures\campmap there should be a folder Hellenic ... in that folder there are two JPG images. You have to open them with ACDSee and save them as TGAs If you do it with PsP then it will not work
If that does not work ... please give more info on where the crushes occur.

Use IrfanView to change the 2 jpgs (MapTex.jpg and MapTex2.jpg) into tga´s: I tried it and for me it worked fine.

Open the MapTex.jpg with IrfanView and go to "File", then to "Save as" and choose "TGA - Truevision Targa", and save it.
Do the same with MapTex2.jpg.
I managed to change them into tga images but the same problem as before.I have stored them in this folder c:\program Files\Total War\Medieval-Total War\campmap\Hellenic.Have i stored them right?The problem im getting is when i choose new campaign i select difficulty then i get to campaign screen.There is writing there and the three ages u need but no picture of the map itself,and when i click on an age it just goes back to desktop.I can play with all the units and everything in custom battle but nothing else.Any ideas again.I must be boring you now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif

I can see the need of a self install mod.
The work of changing the aspect of the game to a Hellenic atmosfere is time consuming. But all going fine, you'll be atonished with final result. I'm packing all, as files get finished, step by step, to a MTW folder structure. When time comes, Komninos, for the release, I'll put the material in a server.
Is Troy campaign contempled in version 2.0? Because my changes may also afect that.

I am really looking forward playing the HTW when v.2.0 is out. Take your time and squash da bags, polish the thing as good as can be, add all the stuff and only then release it.
