Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Seems like they've changed a bit of stuff in there, according to the review, having more horses in the invertory means being able to carry more, i.e inventory space is proportional to number of horses on your charecter. Also, each of the companions, it seems, would now give a standard moral bonus or something to your rank and file soldiers.

There's always been a feature very similar to that, more horses mean you can carry more weight, so if you distribute all your weight over multiple horses you travel faster on the campaign map. Are you sure this isn't what they were referring to?

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I don't think so.That had a limitation, if you had too many horses you got slowed down as horses too were considered inventory objects then.
He specifically says if you are a trader you'll keep lot of horses in your inventory.
Anyhow, that is how it ought to be.......more horses, more inventory space.......having an inventory skill was just not realistic.......and not having access to your men's inventories was even worse......why, all soldiers had individual backpacks.

In place of the standard "woot," this deserves a new cheer, which I will invent now:
WEEEAYALAAARGH!
More of a warble really.

It's finally here, Version 1.003!
http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.p...c,45208.0.html
Currently downloading at a mighty 10-12Kb per second. With 380 megabytes of data, it'll only be another 10 hours or so .......
I hope they get some more mirrors up for this.

Yea when I checked out the thread, there were 750+ people on the forum. A lot more probably downloading it too. Think I'll have to leave my PC on during the night to let it download and sneak downstairs later to turn off the PC whilst my girlfriend is sleeping..... and maybe then play it for a bit too!

That's true, but at least you can probably transfer most if not all your visual mods (if you have any) or sounds.
I know in my .960 game i have some terrain and face textures that I'm defiantly going to port over.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
w00t, got it working. Had to readjust the anti-aliasing.
Overall, I like a lot. Prices were jacked way up for armor, horses, and some helmets. This should mean I can't just ransom a couple lords and have all the gear I'll ever need. I like the new animations as well, adds a more realistic element to it. All in all, I'm glad i shelled out 20 bucks for this game. :2thumbsup:
EDIT: I forgot to mention, they made custom tournaments based on where they were held. Swadian tourney was all mounted, nordic tourney had a ton of axes, and the rhodok tourney had just about everything; swords, axes, crossbows, mounted units, bows, etc... that was a real fun one.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
And my luck hasn't changed... No matter the army size I can kill everyone but on the last guy he'll barely wing me and it will do just enough to kill me
1-15 damage

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)

Nice! I was recently doing a tourney spiel (going from tournament to tournament), and I was getting a bit bored because of repetitivity.
Downloading now :2thumbsup:

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Lots of polish and subtle changes. Can't wait til I can afford some of the new uber-class armors (Lordly, etc.). Armor stats have changed a lot, and weapon damage was increased for many weapons in .960. The Masterwork weapons look nice, but they kick up the Power Draw or Strength requirements quite a bit. Only characters that focus a lot of their points in Power Draw or Strength can use most of them. Same with the Champion-class steeds--need a high Riding skill.
Morale for food types has changed, giving more morale than before. But Wine and Ale no longer give morale. No big deal for me there. The additional morale from the food types more than makes up for it.
Subtle changes (elevations) in the world map have made it a bit more challenging for the cavalry-based crew. I like that, as it was too easy to just run over enemies in most cases for a cavalry group.
Lords generally have a LOT more renown than before. Most of the Khergit lords in my game have between 800 and 1200. The other factions aren't that high, but higher than before. The Khergits have more lords without fiefs too, so I won't be joining them initially; I'll have to compete for the winnings less with the other factions. I can always switch over later.
I like the new soundtrack, and the new sounds for arrows and bows. Combat somehow "feels" different too, but I'm having trouble thinking of how to describe it. The new animations are nice, and I too like the new weapon-drawing motions and poses--except for the way lances are held when horsed. I liked the old way better for this. I took many a screenshot of my guy sitting on his horse with his lance out, but now, he holds it out away from his body and it doesn't look relaxed and natural.
I'm really looking forward to seeing if sieges have improved.
I'm only having one problem. I can't access Options in game. Every time I try, the screen goes black, the music stutters, and then the infamous Windows message comes up about it having a problem with M&B and having to close, sorry for the inconvenience, etc.. I've posted in the tech help board at TaleWorlds to see if they can help. Several others are having the same problem.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Is it just me, or the do the music sound it has been taken from Lord of the Rings and the origional Star Trek?
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Ok, from what I've played so far. I love the new animations, feels a lot more realistic. Also the combat seems slightly more refined. I friggin' love the new soundtrack, so atmospheric and immersing.
But, one thing that has to be the biggest plus, loading and saving times are now much faster. As is the speed of transition between different menus.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
The sound for bows and arrows might have improved, but for the swords it's bad.....it sounds like an unrealistic *thock*.........I use sword to slash at enemies from horse back and while the combat is better, but the sounds are worse........
And I've already got a set of 'Lordly Armour', had to work night and day, lol, almost literally, but it was worth it, but I still haven't found a 'champion' steed, infact first time I've heard of them is here..........are they like a different breed of just a more elite class of each breed?
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Champion steeds are a step up from Spirited mounts. They have better speed and maneuverability than Spirited steeds, and cost a lot more. The Riding skill requirement for a champion steed is two more than the riding requirement for a normal or Spirited steed of that type (a Riding skill of 4 is required to ride a Champion Courser, 5 to ride a Champion Hunter, and 6 for Warhorses and Chargers, etc.).
I am enjoying my first Masterwork weapon, a sabre ~:). And I already got my coveted Thick Khergit Guard Helmet after defeating a party of Khergit Lancer deserters, which you can't buy in towns. Yay! It took me quite a while to get a good one in my .960 game.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
From what I've seen there is now a glancing blow with the lance if your couching it.
I've hit a few guys on their far left and far right and it will do like two damage but they will spin and usually their shield is shattered. That definately caught me off guard a few times.
And for the sounds I think they are way better. Many a time have i charged at an enemy lord with my sord held high only to hear CHUNK!! Chiissshhh as I flew by.
