Yeah well, the French are nuts too, and Sarkozy is just... nuts.
Who are the National Democrats? In Sweden we´ve got the (wiki translated) the Swedish Social Democratic party, the Left Party (sounds silly in english), The Green party, the Center Party (again silly), the Liberal People´s party, the Moderate party and the Christian Democrats (biggest nuts).
There´s also the newly formed Sweden Democrats, who are even bigger nuts and makes me won´t to reinstate the death penalty, but not even they are more right then your americans Republicans.
Don´t know about any National Democrats though, and if there are any, then they´re probably the kind of very small groups that only get´s any kind of public attention when they get in a fight with another very small group with extreme political ideas.
Nationaldemokraterna, I found them on Wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa...s_%28Sweden%29
From the page on Sverigedemokraterna, they sound like a far-right party, bordering on neo-nazism. Much, much worse than the Republican Party.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden_Democrats
How are you judging how right-wing the Republican Party is? What are you basing it on?
Ideologically speaking, both the Democrats and Republicans are Liberal parties. On a strictly objective left-right axis, both are left of center. On a relative left-right axis, the Dems are spread out all over the left and the Republicans occupy a very small bit of space slightly right of center.
The only appreciable difference between the two parties is their views on taxation.
I wouldn't think that either party could be described as Liberal. As with most political parties, there are members who are more left leaning than others and vice versa.
In this coming election, the Republican Party has elected a relatively centrist politician. If certain news organisations who shall remain nameless, continue in playing the race card and shit-stirring, the Democrats will elect a right-wing candidate in Hilary Clinton. I personally can't see much of a difference between them.
Oh come on, the Swedish National Democrats got 3,000 votes, they don´t count.
How anyone can claim the Republicans beeing Liberal is beyond me, but yet again there are just so many differences between Swedish and American politics. For example, it´s impossible to discuss the Union (ya know, that organises workers and makes sure they get proper pay and shit) with an american, becasue the swedish and american union is just so different.
It´s just another world, it´s hard to compare them.
And yes, Sverigedemokraterna are assholes, but hey, they´re funny at least. Here´s an actualy qoute from one of their leaders: "I want to move to land where they don´t accept immigrants". :laugh4:
The party line is small government, tax control, protection of personal liberties against government infringement, equality of opportunity--this is a wholly Liberal platform in the very spirit of Liberalism. In the course of events, party lines mean nothing, of course.Quote:

Well then...
If you don't like the Skye Boat Song analogy...
maybe, you'll like Cuachag Nan Craobh better?
1st verse
Cuachag nan craobh nach truagh leat mo chaoi
‘G osnaich rioidhch’ cheothar
shiubhlainn le m’ghaol fo dhubhar nan craobh
Gu’n duin’ air an t-saohgal fheoraich
Thogainn ri gaoith am monadh ri fraoich
Mo leabaidh ri taobh dorain
Do chrutha geal caomh sinte ri’m thaobh
‘S mise gad chaoin phogadh.
By the way, its Gàidhlig.
It is thought that the tune to this formed the basis of the Skye Boat Song. It sounds a bit like this...
http://efolkmusic.org/ArtMusic/previ..._12368_006.mp3
The words were pinned by William Ross, who lived in the late 17th century.
Right, you want the title in English...
'Cuckoo of the Trees'
and its said it was a traditional rowing song designed to melt away the labors of the day.
I said I wouldn't talk about politics anymore. To steel my resolve against its temptations, here is a funny pic wrapped in spoiler tags.

Okay guys.
Do we have an English teacher or something here? At least someone that knows a lot about English/Irish (slang). I've come across a very word figure of speech.
Ding! Post 600!
Well, I am English. Does that count?
Congratulations.
What does the figure of speech 'throwing the jar' mean? I tried googling it, with no success.
Was that throw or toss???
Throw. But if you know the meaning with 'toss' that's okay too.
I dual-majored in History and English, but almost all of my English coursework was reading Star Wars books.:no:Quote:

OMG that graphics card fellow is an IDIOT. XD XD Votes for the biggest nut, fellows?
*peers at hooahguy prancing about out there in LS*
I don't believe it, he actually believed me and went out to prance. XD
On nuts, there was a charity organisation here a year or two back whose CEO was found to be drawing a monster $600000 a year pay, and who had gold-plated taps in his office toilet. A huge hooha resulted from the public that resulted in the CEO and the entire board resigning and being thrown in court for fraud and suspicious business practices. The organisation itself suffered from a major loss of credibility that affected ALL other charities (very much less people are willing to donate now because they can't be sure the money is really for charity).
Anyway, point is this. The wife of the Senior Minister (our title for the preceding Prime Minister, keeping him as a consultant and elder statesman in government) happened to be the patron of this charity. So of course the media approached her for soundbites. And whether because she was a personal friend of the CEO, or because she didn't want to be seen as betraying the organisation she patronises, she obliged with a MAJOR soundbite that caused her to lie low for a very, very long time.
'I don't understand what all this fuss is about. I think $600000 is peanuts.'
To this day people can still not know her by her name or face, but once someone says 'Mrs Peanuts' recognition will instantly dawn. She's a public hate figure now, and her husband had to come out and tell her off indirectly in public. Even then, of course, he didn't apologise for her. She did eventually, but after SO LONG that it was obvious it wasn't from the heart. :\
I am watching Employee of the Month for the 8th time in 7 days. It's TERRIBLE, but I'm too lazy to change the channel. I recently got digital cable with all the movie channels and now I'm on spring break from the classes I audit and I'm on paid sick leave from work. Nothing to do but watch stupid movies.
EB perhaps???
Not that I know anything, but have you ever tried to sell a kidney in Singapore...
for Peanuts? I thought Tan said it is was £203,000.
lol, that charity was called the National Kidney Foundation, ironically.
Organ sale is banned in Singapore, so for peanuts or betel nuts or other sort of nuts, you can't sell one. Though I understand in other countries people do sell them for 1/10 the cost of a Singaporean peanut.

Hey,guys. Just played EB for the first time today ('today' being 3-20-08) and thought I'd put my foot in the door and say hi to my fellow EB fanatics.
...About me? Well,I'm 24,don't drink (so no vodka, whiskey, etc. for me),no gf because girls don't like me,and I look nothing like my avatar and am in nowhere near as good of shape as my namesake.
Glad to finally say I've played EB,though, after a couple verbal lashings from the EB team concerning SecuRom and Spartan Hoplites (but nothing about that segmented Roman armor of which I probably shouldn't speak the name!!!!!!!!!!!)
