Feels so good to be dead.
To whoever killed me: I'm gonna find out who you are. I'll find you, and then I'll kill you. But that will have to be in another game. You've had quite a bit of luck this time around... :stare:

Re: The House of Origin [IN PLAY]
Perhaps my retinue was not as... stalwart as I originally thought. Upon my concession to let them have another attempt at this savagery, the group huddled for an incredibly long time, whispering to each other just loud enough for me to know they were whispering, but not loud enough to know about what. After some time, however, it broke apart and the group looked around for a short moment before a scrum broke out. Myself and a few of my guards had to separate the lot by force. Finally settling down, they all pointed fingers at each other, with some changing their minds every couple of minutes. Halfway through, my scribe threw his scroll to the ground in a fit and curled into a ball, sucking his thumb. I sighed and just let the spectacle unfold. When things had calmed down, I simply asked for everyone to give me a present preference, and out of it, a fellow named God Emperor was picked by an incredibly narrow margin. The rational part of me was worried we were having a repeat of the last try. The other rational part of me argued that I was the divine emperor, and my will is impossibly perfect. Yes... I like that rational part of me. I'll go with that one. The entire three people convinced of God Emperor's guilt shoved him before me, in a sight that seemed oddly familiar. I unsheathed my sword, pointing its tip at the condemned man. God Emperor looked exasperated and irritated at the idea of his condemnation.
"This is ridiculous, I've done nothing!" He boasted. "You're all fools, it's clearly somebody else that did it!"
"Do you question my divine will?" I asked, with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, since the divine will is saying I should die, uh... yeah, I do!"
"Well, that's a shame, now I have to condemn you to death for heresy," I admonished him in the closest tone I could manage to a wise elder.
"But I was already condemned, you-" I didn't let him finish his obvious heresy, as I swung my blade down across his neck. Once again, I just missed a clean execution and had to take a few tries to get the head off. Oddly, the crowd seemed more impressed by the messy execution than anything else. How strange. Well, either way, we needed to go find ourselves an exit.
"Well done!" I complimented my retinue. "As you can see, we found ourselves a blasphemer. Clearly, it was him and his ilk who were betraying us! Now, off again! The sooner we find an exit, the sooner we can escape with our loot!"
IT IS NOW NIGHT 2. YOU HAVE 24 HOURS TO SUBMIT ORDERS.

I actually have no problem with continuing the theme.
Why not?
What are the odds TC is scum anyway.
Tincow, should I die tonight? You decide. I have no partner anymore and I'm asking absolutely NO-body for protection.
Decide someone else's fate! Please! This will be so fricking sweet.

I don't get it. Why would you need protection? Why bring that point up? Who was wondering about that?

Stop wondering about things and let me do my thing.

Let him...
...die.

Yes, I know the Roman thumbs down actually meant that the gladiator was allowed to live, but there aren't any decent images of that. At least not on the first page of Google image search and I'm too lazy to look further.

Re: The House of Origin [IN PLAY]
Wait, really?
How did we even get the modern thumbs-up / thumbs-down tradition if the Romans did it backwards?
-
Re: The House of Origin [IN PLAY]
I thought they raised it more in the middle when they wanted someone to die....or was that to live?:dizzy:
-
Re: The House of Origin [IN PLAY]
The truth is, no one really knows for certain: there are no descriptions, nor drawings...
By its name "pollice verso", is clear the thumb is "turned", in which direction, nobody knows :P

Nice.
For the record, because I have no partner, I did nothing N2.
I was obviously part of the failed kill on Ishmael N1.
If I die tonight, maybe that info will be useful, maybe it won't, I'll be too dead to really care.
Thanks for the game, gentlemens!

That was my understanding as well, that it was thumb down to live and thumb kind of towards the chest to die. As Arjos said though, there's plenty of debate over the matter.

Re: The House of Origin [IN PLAY]
I thought it was up to die and sideways to live. That's what it was like on Courage.
-
Re: The House of Origin [IN PLAY]
It's so very tempting to link to the appropriate Order of the Stick comic, but I believe that's against our host's rules.
-
Re: The House of Origin [IN PLAY]
I think it was up to live, and sideways to die. It was sideways because then the emperors thumb was pointing towards the heart. They never did a thumbs down I believe. Some painter came up with that one and everyone liked the idea.
