Hey Naggy, when I downloaded your first beta, i got the whole picture icon mixed up, can you make it more user friendly?
The Beta Tester release, has, with the new planning and such, become totally irrelevant to CTW, much of what is in it will not be in the new set-up I have devised, sorry, however there was never anything much to do on it, it was meant as the base needed for beta testers, that has no changed. Next one will be more user friendly.
The post I've been trying to do for a while should be done soon, it would have been done today however I am recovering from the flu and have been bed-ridden most of the day, I'll be working on CTW come Monday.
Centurion : Total War
Introduction
Rome grew from been a simple group of farmers to one of the greatest empires the world has ever seen, very few can even claim to match the Romans. At its height the Roman Empire stretch from the top of Africa to the very borders of Caledonia (Modern Day Scotland), its armies were one of the most efficient ever fielded and its technology was at a level which would not be matched until the Renaissance. Centurion : Total War begins at around the time of the First Punic War and depicts the period where Rome had many foes to face, ranging from the Iceni on the shores of Britain to the mighty Carthageon the tip of Africa. Your task? To achieve domination for whichever faction you choose, be it one of the House of the Roman Empire or one of Rome's foes. Will you recreate the glory of Rome or will you make a new history as one of its enemies? Decide the history of the Roman world in the total war engine and wet your appetite for the Romans ready for the release of Rome : Total War.
So what is this new structure?
What exactally is this new structure I have been speaking about for nearly three weeks? Before my organization for the project was very much muddled, I got confused as to what I had done and what I hadn't and this slowed the MOD down greatly and drained my interest in even working on it, let alone completing it. Before I had grand plans for every faction to have its own buildings tech-tree and so on and so forth, this does include plans I never released publicly as there are somethings I do not wish to release then eventually have to say "Sorry, I couldn't make them work". I will not explain them all here, but in sections, so get ready to read just exactally what Centurion will be offering you now.
Buildings
Buildings will be new, you won't be building keeps, armourers guilds and so forth because they are Medieval buildings, since when would Principes and Triarii be built at a spearmakers workshop? Buildings have been put into categories, they are as follows:
Roman
Greek
Barbarian
Eastern
Basically factions are put into these categories which will give them their base tech tree, however they will have the odd individual building that only they can build, usually as an add-on to one of the other buildings but unlocking certain faction abilities, Scipio's Hall of Reform (NOT A CONFIRMED BUILDING) would be an add-on to the Imperial Palace (Again, NOT a confirmed building).
Example
Scipio's Hall of Reform (Only for House of Scipio)
Imperial Palace------->Grand Garden
Roman Villa
None of these are confirmed, they were just thought up in my head right now, they are simply an example of what I was talking about.
The base tech tree will be relevent to the kind of buildings that faction built, excluding castles, these are the same for everyones but have very simple names (Border Fort, Fort etc). Greek factions will build buildings that are of their style, Roman faction will build buildings of their style and so on. Technology difference will be noticeable, barbarians will not be building aquaducts and coliseums, they will build low tech buildings that are quick to build to reflect their lack of building skills compared to the Romans, very few of their buildings will even require stone for example, mostly wood. It will give you the feel that you are really fighting as these factions, along with the units you can use and the tactics you employ.
Units
Units will be as realisitc and individual as possible, I don't want people to say "Well, the Triarii and the Principes are basically the same, I'll just buy the Principes because their support cost is less", I want them to say "The Triarii are great when you've weakened and foe but the Principes are masterful at weakening the foe, both work so well together" for example. Units will be different to one another, simply so you can have some depth in the armies you build, building certain units to tackle Carthage, but using totally different ones to fight the Iceni. Hopefully this will make you keep coming back to play Centurion, but also the fact that each faction will have their very own units as well as their techtree given units, this is vital to make the Romans interesting for a start, but also makes things more fun on a whole. Units should be as realistic as possible, giving variations to the armies fielded by armies also, don't expect armies of barbarians to look exactally the same, it would be boring if they did.
Factions
Here is the list of factions currently included:
House of Julii
House of Brutii
House of Scipio
Helvetii
Aedui
Nervii
Swabians
Germanii (Until further research into Germanian tribes)
Iceni
Brigantes
Belgae
Caledonians
Ordovices
Dacians
Illyrians
Carthage
Senate and the People of Rome
Macedonia
Kingdom of Pontus
Armenians
Seleucid Empire
Ptolemy Egyptians
There is certainly plenty there for you to play with, each will be as different as I can possibly make them, I don't want you to stop playing because your bored of the similarity of factions, as I sometimes find with MTW itself. These factions may change after research gets even more in-depth, the exclusion of the Seleucids is already been considered (After discussion with komninos about the Greeks in Roman times) for example. You'll notice that tribes are now included, rather than been grouped into "Gaul" and so on, the Germans aren't entirely until I research them some more.
Release Date
I am deciding not to set one, it will be completed when it is completed. I find that, if I give a date and I go beyond it then people get annoyed by this so it is best I give you a release date when I can be sure, but one thing is certain the release will happen prior to the release of RTW.
Size of the MOD
Due to the features I'm adding and considering how large these will be, expect the MOD to be of a large MB size. However I am fully aware of this been a hinderance to those with slower connections and so I will point out utilities that can allow you to download the MOD bit by bit without having to stay online for hours, then you can download it over a couple of days, or I will split it into packs as well as one huge download so that everyone can have access to the MOD.
Anything else?
Updates will be coming somewhat more regulary than they did before, hopefully. I do hope that, when CTW arrives, it will satisfy you. Sorry this took a while to do, but thing have always gotten in the way of me been able to work on it at all.
Nag
*bump* Hows the modding going Naggy? I still cant get over the main screen it looks great and seeing that MetalStorm's Rome Fan Project has stalled for a bit it looks like all are waiting on you
I was working on Centurion all of last night, basically the way work goes is that once I've started one section I finish it before moving on to another one, currently I'm on the Campaign and Faction selection screen.
Right-Click and Save Target As to see the screenshot
Tonight I will be doing all the faction descriptions as the campaign one has already been done, work on the actual gameplay will come after this and Rome will be the first to be done as far as been able to take screenshots goes.
Nag
Looking good Nag thanx for the update
So its been a while since your last update anything to report erm thats good news it has been so long that one would think CTW was abandoned...
I knew that someone would post at somepoint concerning the whereabouts of CTW.
Centurion Total War is NOT, I repeat NOT, abandoned. The lack of updates have mainly been due to personal reasons that recquired my attention (It was Christmas and all that as well so I have left the MOD alone for a while).Quote:

Hi LOS
There is something I require some help with, this is the location of certain BIF's.
I need to find where the BIF's for things like "Streongest Armies" and "Content Peasants" and such, alliances too etc.
I would be greatful if you could point me in their direction.
Nag
Hey Naggy, I think you are refering to the epic bif which has all the events such as birth, heir, etc.which can be found in Medieval/campmap/EPIC be sure to advance the frames for the different bifs, I dbl checked this has the farming, etc. so I am reasonably sure this is what you are looking for..LOS
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...c-thumbsup.gif Any news from this front?
Nothing of major note.
I have added the Agema Phalangites as a Greek unit and am getting into balancing this unit out. I have been messing with faction colours and so forth, so as you can see nothing drastically worthy of note, hence the lack of updates.
Nag
Well keep up the good http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...gc-builder.gif
is their any special instructions to istall or not
If you are meaning the CTW available on the Org, its no longer necessary to Download, files have been drastically changed so it would be best to ignore it until a proper beta version is released.
are we looking at a fairly soon release date?
Possibly, for a beta, not V1.0 however.
There is a preview of CTW on LORE's website. Check it out.
CTW Preview
The Centurion : Total War website is now up once again, check it out here.
Hi Nagatsuka Shumi,
I tried to access your website but I can't access to anything beyond the first page.
Is this normal ?
PYJ99
At the moment this is normal, I've yet to put up the rest of the pages but I'll try to get them up as quickly as possible.
Any idea when it will be finished
I have no idea when the site will be finished, sorry but it's somewhat of a large task to complete.
Maybe Komninos could borrow some Roman units you made for his Roman Invasion Expansion of HTW,think he is planning to use the old Patrician ones.If you could help a hand it would speed things up,i presume you have some usefull graphics we could use for HTW if you you are ok,let me know... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wave.gif
