BTW, Tomi are you intending to keep that list up to date? As I changed from [VH]NihilisticCow to RTK Caradoc a while back.

I am down to doing updates on The Code page, forum list, sending out welcome letters, and badge names to Tosa, to once a week. The only practical way to get all of these things done in a reasonable length of time, is to do them all at once.

Please rest assured that either Saturday or Sunday morning, I will collect, inspect, insert, correct, and otherwise get things brought up to date for the previous week :wink:

ive given alot of thought to signing the code of honor.. most that know me know that i have always stood for good sportsmenship.. my personal honor is something i take very seriously.. however... there are a few things about the code that bother me a great deal.

first off ive read the list.. and there are some people on there that have no business being there.. ive seen several coh members being extremly abusive online .. cursing.. fighting.. spamming.. in short.. rude.

then there is the promise "to base my stragities and tatics on applied skill, never taking atvantage of weakness in the games design or programing"

i have met only a rare few that can honestly say they abide by this.. of the 200+ signers none have ever brought elephants, chariots, ongars ect? how about camping? i know this is not true. it is a the heart of human nature to win, and most given an chance will do almost anything to.

therefore sadly, i cannot sign this code.. i do agree with it.. but i dont need a badge to prove it.. i dont need an award to feel better about my honor. and i flatly refuse to be a part of a group who lets any player join and declares them "honorable" without justification.

sorry to be the only negitive voice in this forum. it is a good idea and ive known tomi for many years.. he is a shining example of what a coh member should be. i just feel i had to get this off my chest.. my intent is not to spark debate.. so for those that wish to disagree.. plz know that i will refrain from posting in this forum. sry agin for disturbing the harmony of this place. plz continue as you were.

The Code is a seed planted in the reader. This happens regardless as to whether they will from then on claim to support it by Signing, or not. In some it will grow and flourish, in some it will wither and die.

The Codie Badge is like a sticker you put on your car that says you support something, not a certification. Even if the bearer forsakes their pledge, seeing the symbol may encourage others to at least read The Code, and in them it may find good soil.

Consider Signing like lighting a single candle in a very dark place. It may not light up the whole room by it’s self. But when enough candles have been lit, it will be a better place.

Everything has it’s time and purpose, and The Code Signing has been a wonderful experience, renewing our awareness of just how many of our fellow players do hold to higher ideals.

It has been a year now since we began discussions on what we might want in a pledge of Honour. And though the Signing is closed, The Code with all of your endorsements will live on, and continue as an inspiration to all read it.

In closing, I would like to share a letter form our last Signer, as it represents the true spirit of The Code, which I hope will always be with you.
