Shrimp bisque
Big fat chunk of beef filet, nice and rare, with a teufel sauce (tabasco & red pepper cream), diced, served on brown spagetti, with a nice litre of Carlsberg.
Every 6 months or so, one of our co-workers trashes her computer, and Mrs. Kukri visits her house and fixes it.
In trade she makes us a big meal (she's an excellent cook, if a plodding Luddite with electronics). Tomorrow night's menu at Jenny's house:
Pasta Primavera
For you connoisseurs out there, what wine do I bring, in your opinion (serving 4 people)?
Pasta primavera? Nevermind it's Italian cuisine, bring two bottles of rather old (at least 6-7 years old) Rioja, if you can afford it. Well, three bottles for four people... Bring a fouth one. Trust a Frenchman! Those old spanish wines are just... brewage for the Gods, with that slight taste of cinnamon.
Thanks for the tip. I found some 2002 at my local wine merchants shop; some say that was not the best year, but WineExpress gives it a pretty good review (although they pair it with roast/grilled pork).
If there are no other recommendations, I'm going for it. Thanks again.
Great, I had a look at the link you gave, and more or less 13 euros a bottle seems a good deal. Just make sure you open the bottles at least two hours before you drink them, in order to let the wine breathe a bit, be less astringent and express all it's flavours.
Grilled chicken smothered in mushrooms, onions, bacon, and pepper jack cheese served over wild rice and with steamed vegetables.
Well I'm an aussie and we have these err 'spring rolls' called Chicko rolls. They are very different to spring rolls and very nice and cheap. So recently I had some lasagne and thought it'd be nice to throw in a chicko roll or two and see what it's like. YUM!
The ultimate easy made gourmet Bachelor food. Just don't let your girlfriend catch you eating it.
After-action report: That was a great hit at dinner last night! We sat in the cool southern california dusk, on their sunset-facing patio, snacking on black olives, sipping that first Rioja, discussing medicine, law, old movies, and comedians.Quote:

Retiring back to the patio (they had mercy on me, the lone cigarette smoker), we polished off the third bottle, and solved ALL of life's problems.
A fine evening, and full bellys, were had by all, lubricated by an excellent wine.
Pasta with red sauce with beef.
It's in the oven cooking now, but I'm sure it's still going to be the best thing I ate today.
Two pizzas made on Indian Nan onion bread with roast chicken and lots of skin(!), red peppers, spinach, old cheddar and lots of hot peppers. And a Stella Artois.
Not bad at all.
Oh man. Simply reading that just now has caused my tummy to start rumbling! I can't wait to get off work now so I can concoct something similar. :sweatdrop:Quote:

Couple'a T-bones off the grill with "tater-sacks" (aluminum-wrapped small potatoes, with onions, mushroom, green beans & snap peas... drizzled with sesame oil) on the side.
Sam Adams beer.
Now I need a nap. :laugh4: ZZzzzzzzzzz
Sirloin done medium. French Fries with ketchup, and Tostada Chips with fantastic Salsa at CHili's. O yea and capped off with Dr.Pepper
Always an excellent decision. ~;pQuote:

Have mercy! I actually clicked through all those spoiler tags, Sammy. :P
Anyway, pacific king crab legs and a glass or two of pinot grigio for me tonight. Soo yummy
Dear god, Martok, enough spoilers? I was getting to the point where I was like, "Hey, this thing does end, right?" Anyways, as for a delicious meal, well, I didn't have much anything too fancy, just a good ol' home burger with cheese. I must admit, I'm rather jealous of Prole's crab meal. Unfortunately, we don't get much crab in Iowa, let alone getting the really good crab.Quote:

For #1, I'd say my bar of white chocolate with nuts. it was excellent. (for results, see my pictues in backroom thread)
for #2.. hmmm good question. I think the sandwich with cheese and apple (I love the combo.. try some time!). I tasted quite good as well.
:balloon2:
Cheese and crackers after dinner with some pinot noir. I forget the name of the cheese but some French triple creme thing.
A couple of bagel/smoked salmon/cream cheese sandwiches for lunch followed by a homemade blueberry power bar for dessert.
Pretty good.
Long workday (11 hours; god, how did my Dad do it? He routinely put in 12-14 hour shifts his whole life.), so left-overs, with liguine.
Saturday's Roast chicken, Sunday's roast pork, green beans, snap peas, all cut to half-inch cubes, quick-fried in a super-hot pan with sesame oil for about a minute;
add the already cooked pasta, turn off the heat, cover for 5 minutes, shaking the pan a couple times to mix.
Uncover, drizzle with basalmic vinegar & olive oil.
Not horrible, for leftovers. And quick - about 15 minutes from refrigerator to table.
Beer helps. :)
