I am waiting to here what pevergreen has to say before I decide on Ares. Ares already has more than enough votes to get him lynched, so my vote doesn't make a difference. I'm keeping it on FH for the time being in the hopes that it will encourage him to speak more.

Considering that I actually said something about that there was more than 1 kill rather than others (such as GH) just voting without adding anything to the vote or yet some others who just vote and have a different one liner to go with it doesn't seem exactly scummy to me.
If you are talking about me not posting much, feel free to use Sigurd analysis on my post count across games and roles.

Re: The Settlement (IN PLAY)
I find TinCow's defense of Ares a little strange, but I do not feel strongly yet that he would be like a mafia partner. I seriously doubt the mafia would risk defending their partner this early, but I can't see how Ares could be innocent. Most plausible explanation so far that I have seen was that... stone thing? might have been planted there by the mafia to frame Ares. To me, TinCow does not have the scum vibe, otherwise this is an incredibly risky tactic.
It may be worth solving this mystery once and for all by investigating Ares, dead or alive. I do not want him to escape from death as mafia, nor do I want a frame job as good as this to screw with us all game.
We need to solve this conclusively before we can move on. In the meantime, we can look at FactionHeir, I haven't played many games with him but you other guys can read him better than me. Or anyone else you want to look at.

Alright I shall Vote: Ares.
I'm not entirely sure about the evidence that it had in the night write-up - it seems just far too bizarre to be true. However, at the same time I don't believe Ares' reveal is legitimate - he left out the welcome message at the start, which indicates to me that he was deleting a PM beforehand.
A question to pever though - you say you were given a cover PM. Was this within the same PM, but written after it? If so it could help to verify Sasaki's idea in regards to Ares' PM ordering.

You can claim it as WIFOM of course, but in games where I have no role, I am a lot less active than in games where I do, contrary to most other mafia players. As you can see, I am less active than general, maybe to hide that I'm scum, you know.
The second fact being that I sometimes like to drop hints about my role in the first post after roles are given out. I mentioned loving my dirt this time around. If you then look at WE's farmer role PM, you'll notice that it mentions having a lot of dirt. Since he already posted his role PM, posting my identical one could be again taken as WIFOM/Scummy behavior as I could just have copied his.

Re: The Settlement (IN PLAY)
The most interesting thing about that confession is the battle rating of 0 which ares did indeed slip up on. Goes back to what I was saying earlier about the duels being misleading--if ares had dueled you might think he was weaker than a farmer but in fact the opposite was true.
Quote:
Agreed, but I still fail to see the motive.
Why not share the information while it's in your power to do so? He must have known he was going to be lynched. The other possibility is that he tweaked the pm to make himself look like a serial killer when he was actually mafia. Pretty much all he would have to do I think is change "vode" to "Edgar" and delete his partner's name. I would have to reread the starting story to make sure of that.

Re: The Settlement (IN PLAY)
I am looking at all the people who were VERY eager to jump on the Ares bandwagon.
Any mafia would love this. there's no reason not to jump on Ares. After all, he is guilty. Now, that's lazy mafia... not bothering to listen to defenses, discussions, or participate in any way but a mindless bandwagon on someone, even if they are guilty.
I'm joining that bandwagon now, because NOW there is no reason not to. But the eagerness to bandwagon is something I have a real problem with. It's lazy and it is a defensive form of play. The best defense is to make sure some poor schmuck gets lynched instead of you, and jump on any reasonable bandwagon.

Re: The Settlement (IN PLAY)
Finger of suspicion: Sasaki Kojiro.
I re-read everything, and everything you did in reaction to the writeup looks closed minded and eager to get someone lynched. And you were awfully eager to see that chat log. You wanted as much evidence as possible to put the nail in his coffin. You were dismissive of everyone who even bothered to point out it wasn't ironclad stuff. Turns out Ares is guilty, sure... but you didn't sound much like a townie to me when you reacted to the news that there was evidence he was guilty. You just ate it up.
Valid perhaps is your reluctance to have people send me information; but it also explains a lot if you're mafia. You don't want the masons to have more info, do you?
Sasaki seems absolutely certain this writeup is all the proof in the world. But that kind of certainty should not exist from a townie. Even the other people who bandwagonned Ares wanted to hear his defense, and wanted to discuss it. You sound like you wanted to shut down the argument and the discussion; that's my impression anyway.
TinCow defended Ares, and TinCow was wrong. What mafia takes a gamble and defends basically a known criminal? I doubt TinCow is guilty, but I get that vibe from you Sasaki. Not just a vibe, but evidence that you have a single-minded purpose to destroy someone without having a discussion about it, and promoting a massive bandwagon.
Seems to know fake roles are below the real ones, on the assumption we have 2, how would he know this?
I think we have a prime candidate for a night investigation. Sasaki, you're too good a player to be this single-minded about destroying someone. Seemed most everyone else was trying to think about it, in spite of the massive evidence. You bought and swallowed everything wholesale. I frown on that.
I'd like to hear your reaction to this.

Sasaki voted BEFORE the extra evidence about the role PMs, just based on being told in the write-up. There had been no other evidence suggested about any other person in this thread and as such I wouldn't call it bandwagoning to follow the only lead we might possibly have.

I'm just not feeling it from Beefy187 either. But I'm sticking to one case at a time.

Like a house collapses against a hurricane's gale,
That, my dear friend, is precisely why you often fail.

It's Day 1. Wait longer to gather more data and see what you find then.

On the contrary, my friend.
In secret it should be kept.
Keep it until we near end.
And hope we have not yet wept.

You might claim to be an ultra-nerd, but I still say you could beat me six ways from sunday in real life, with your bare hands. I'm the only true nerd here.

Okay, that was one long catch-up session. It's fortunate that patient I am.
Who to look at next? It's always the quiet ones who outwait the patient ones -- 'less you flush them out of the bocage. FH, Beefy, Pscyho...all keeping it short and sweet with little sense of their role.
Course, that may just be me doing too much thinkin'. Still, get 'em out in the open says I -- can't see the wolves unless they're in the open.

Vote: Ares
I don't understand the strategy behind the SK reveal, but I won't refuse a gift when offered one.

Re: The Settlement (IN PLAY)
hm....
im a little concerned about Ares' ACTUAL role.
He's been quite inconsistent with his reveals and such, and well, here's what i've come to decide:
His Latest role reveal is fake or AT LEAST tweaked. here's the reason:
Quote:
Before the man could offer his final thoughts, a large figure, clad in well crafted armor that was dark as obsidian approached. The man turned his attention to the armored figure and cheerfully greeted him: "Hiya!"
The armored figure responded in a cool, deep tone: "What is your name?" What a critical error this warrior of Vode committed as the man opened his mouth...
and compare to this:
Quote:
You are Edgar's Swordman
Background:
You were heir apparent to become priest king of a powerful city, but on his deathbed, your father decided that you would not succeed him due to your cruel and unjust nature. You killed your father because of this and thus did Edgar enter your life.
Edgar is the god of fighting. He is no friend of your people, but then again, you are not either.
notice the the different God's?
second pointer:
Quote:
0 - Before devoting yourself to Edgar you were a warrior of legendary power. Now that you are in the his service, you have truly become a vessel of illusion. You are indeed the most powerful human in the world. Yet you never show any of your power whilst dueling, doing so would make Reenk Roink jealous of your wondrous ability.
Why would a God of Fighting not want to fight? it just doesnt make sense
Another point on this is that i thought Reenk was a priest? priest's dont like strength, they like magic and stuff like that ( i assume)
Ares also doesnt make much of a defence for himself - almost wanted to be lynched.
This can only lead me to believe that if we lynch him, it might release some special power or something.
the best i recommend we do is that someone who is REALLY Strong (pref with max fighting skills) to challenge him and kill him that way, or if we have a vig or something, to murder him.
im really tempted to lynch him too, but im going to:
Vote: Abstain
just incase he really is hiding more things

Are Vode and Edgar both gods? Or is Vode a place?
Nevermind, read the opening story.

This is a good point. In the kill he is at least pretending to be a killer of Vode. As I said earlier it would have been easy to switch "vode" to "edgar". Reasons to pretend to be a SK would be:
1) just for fun
2) Because he felt his partner had revealed himself somehow
3) Because he wanted us to think that his partner had revealed himself somehow

2 and 3 are good points but wifom
i do think he's trying to protect his mafia partner, but what im more concerned is what would happen if we lynch him.

I just did a search of the thread using the search function ctrl+f, I didn't see Edgar... checking again.
edit:
No Edgar. (unless it's hidden in spoilers somewhere, or my browser doesn't work.)
