Those guys really nail it :laugh3:
For the record, I'm not Gregethor. My character is Gregolas.
Very cool find acin. :2thumbsup:
Nice song.
He's also done this DA2 song which actually manages to make DA2 and Hawke's bumbling around sound epic.

Great.
I wonder if Bethesda actually wants this...
Wagner goes techno?
I hope everyone is following the adventures of Felix the Peaceful Monk. Four parts so far, explaining a purely pacifist run of Skyrim.

Thank you for that Lemur!
It's good to see someone trying something quite different. That is actually a playstyle I thought about but rejected for the same reasons he goes over: expensive spells; leaving a living crowd on the path you may have to walk again. Kudos to him for having the courage to do it, and the ability to make it work :)

The Skyrim creation kid (modding tool kit) has an automated system which uploads mods to Steam. Players can install mods by selecting them on Steam, and Steam will handle the installation itself, and keep all mods up-to-date as new versions are released. This is quite possibly the greatest modding news I have ever heard. If this works well, it means that the single most frustrating aspect of modding Bethesda games is now a thing of the past.
When I saw the Bethesda video on this yesterday I started to like Steam; just as I was worried about where I could find great mods. I've had so many problems with M2 mods. This will take the worry away.
1.4 live.
Yes, I noticed when Skyrim with Skyboost wouldn't run last night. I uninstalled Skyboost and launched the game. I noticed framerate improvement better than that provided by Skyboost: Whiterun fps with Skyboost was about 19 and with 1.4 alone was 25. However, as I travelled along roads, the movement was not fluid despite the higher framerates. Often the movement would ever-so-slightly pause every couple of seconds - enough to be annoying. There were no other processes running that should have interfered with Skyrim. I should have re-booted just to see if that mattered as I haven't done so for a couple of days. I'll do so tonight.
Would you guys be interested in me posting an AAR about my orc? I have it over at twcenter.net. If not here where would be a good place to place aars for skyrim?
:laugh4: When I saw your name in the Skyrim thread, my immediate thought was "bug him to do an AAR." Our TreasAARy is not quite as active as TWC, but you'll get a loyal following for a well written AAR, which yours always are.
Off to TWC to check it out.
horrorview from SkyrimNexus has a tiny collection of "Sexy" re-texturing collections for villages and towns, followed by Riften, Windhelm and Winterhold College for now, upon the success of the first.
"Sexy" stuff, although improving dumbed-down textures is an attraction indeed, raised my eyebrow since I wondered if warmer colours would spoil the intended ambiance of the game. You know the color palette must have been chosen carefully for an atmospheric game like this. If any of you dares trying, let me know about your thoughts on the mod.
Lol i forgot about my own thread! i havent played the game in a while since to me after the story, everything just got dull, does anyone agree with me? i might start playing again killing some random gaurds
Story? There's a story? Just kidding, I'm having a hard time paying any attention to the main story with everything else there is to do. I'm just over 1/3 of the way through the main quest. I've got a bad case of "Yes, I'll help you sir/ma'am." and "Oh look! A cave!". :laugh4:
Oh, Greg-sensei, I should have predicted long before that we are surely from the same clan.
Much the same for me on my first couple of starts. When I got a toon I was happy with, I still said "yes!" to all requests but pushed the main quest. I was afraid that waiting too long would result in the same thing as Oblivion: You might be the most powerful thing in Tamriel, but you will never! get Martin through alive!!! Muahahahaa!
As far as I can tell, there is no need to worry. Enjoy your journey! :)
ps: do NOT take any follower you wish to keep, on the last stage of Meridia's quest.

Life In The Stronghold
Tried official Hi-Res Textures DLC yet ? Anybody ?
Yeah I did. Some improvement in a number of places especially on character models and wood/tree textures, but there are still mods that have added better texturing. The one i've seen people drawing the most comparisons with is Skyrim HD, which seems noticeably better than the High Res pack.
Honestly I'm more impressed with patch 1.4 and the optimization fixes. The game now runs as well unmodded as it did when I had it loaded with half a dozen optimization tweaks. And it only took themfour months, impressive. :laugh4:
The patch seems good, although I am back to stutter-casting sometimes.
Game has a lot of content to while away the hours, but I won't be recommending it to anyone. Way too often I get to the end of a dungeon slog capping off a quest, and there is no "Hurrah!" at the end. It just makes me really annoyed to go through the whole bit, and end up having to rely on the console to complete.
I suppose I should be glad I can save the game that way; I'm not.
There are lots of "funny" Skyrim videos out there, but this short one just cracks me up every time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHbF9ynGZV0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I'm partial to this one. But you know potty mouth and all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlC6...2GLdVimB20LsZv
The vids for this game are quite a varied lot; many of them very funny :)
For all my moaning about the game I have logged over 400hrs at it...can't be all bad :p Maybe I would recommend it to others.
I just hope they announce a DLC soon.
Also THIS IS SKYRIM!

It's supposed to be a song from Skyrim. TBH I never heard it in-game but who cares. It's really well sung.

The recent Catalyst driver update for Radeon cards (12.2 - but it has been refered to as 12.3 in some places) causes graphic pixelation in Skyrim. Seems to affect water, reflected light and other such things. The only solution I've found is to uninstall 12.2 and reinstall 12.1. It works.
Go to AMD.com support page and select your card class and operating system. At the download page, look for the "previous drivers" link and select it. Find 12.1 on the page and download it. Run the installer, first time to uninstall current drivers and then after rebooting, run it a second time to install the 12.1 drivers.
Imma go hug my Xbox now.
The PS3 version is virtually unplayable after you reach a certain level. It crashes constantly. Bummer!
Quid
Decided to try my hand at modding Skyrim now.
Came up with a small mod to remove the Dragon Priest Masks from a character model.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=13371
I find it intriguing that dragons are not "treasure hoards" in the usual sense; instead of vast piles of gold and goodies you get some gold and products (bones/skin) It seems more akin to landing a whale in that respect. Given the number of dragons you end up killing that's a good thing :)
Actually Dragon lairs have some nice loot. And some times word walls.
Mounted combat
I uninstalled the game, and my HDD is filled to the brim so I cannot try it right now
Here's hoping it's like M&B or better.
Considering it's bethesda we're talking about, I dont think it would be unreasonable.
Once they know what they have to do, I don't think replicating M&Bs combat should be all that hard.
I mean they don't have to do the lances or polearms at all, nor have they done the shields as far as I know. And the horse/riding bit is already decent enough.
Anyhow by what I know this actually started out as an in-house mod at Bethesda itself. Then they liked the idea and decided to release it as a patch.
I've re-downloaded Skyrim and have opted in to the beta. I'll let you know my thoughts on the mounted combat when I get a horse, I'm quite a slow player though, so could be a few days. Unless I just steal one.
Dawnguard trailer. Better than pr0n.

That is a new breed of vampires I think.
Hope they do a PC version soon after.
All I got out of that was mounted crossbow combat. And I'm so happy!!!
Looks like they were serious about the game jam being ideas for new content. I seem to remember one of the ideas they played with was vampire master or something similiar, looks like we'll finally get a chance to try that out.
Personally I'm a little disappointed the DLC is about vampires. Almost seems a step down from the Galactus level threat that Alduin posed to the dragonborn. Still it doesn't look bad, per say, but I was hoping for something a bit more threatening.
This looks awesome. The vampire is less awesome than the werewolf in Skyrim.
I dunno; it looked like something related to Molag Bal.
I thought I saw something that looked like him in there.
You know, I'm incredibly tempted to make a My Little Pony reference.
But I won't; I believe myself to be better than that......
Even if it would make this thread 20% cooler....
Wait....
Looks ok; been trying to get my groove on in Thief again...harder than I remember it :p
As long as these new vampires don't start sparkling, I'm OK with it.
More seriously, if they're going the way they did with Oblivion, this is probably like Knights of the Nine pack. I'm pretty sure eventually they will release a much bigger, real expansion pack with an alternate realm/extra landmass.
Mounted combat very underwhelming, more time spent fighting the controls than the opponents. Then again, this is more of a consequence of the horse mechanics from the base game, I'd forgotten how bad they are (don't really know why they changed it from Oblivion, one of the few changes for the worse, imo). Kept finding myself trying to use M&B controls as well, might get better with a bit of practice, probably take a mod that changes horse controls though.
Im sorta tempted to buy this when it goes on sale on Steam, but Im not a huge fan of killing demons and ghouls. As someone who dislikes those kind of games, would I enjoy it? Dragons are awesome though.
Elder Scrolls games are more about exploration and finding cool stuff rather than engaging storylines or 'epic' quests. Yes, you are the dovahkiin and the potential savior of the world, but most of the fun of the game revolves around exploring exotic locations and uncovering lost lore. You know, finding lost trinkets, uncovering treasure maps, killing their ancient undead protectors, ect, things like that. I've always thought of Elder Scrolls games sorta like an Indiana Jones simulator with magic and swords rather than whips and guns :grin2:
If that sounds like the game for you then I'd pick it up without a doubt. If you are expecting a more traditional quest/story based experience, however, you will likely want to go elsewhere.
Ya big gurl!
Thanks!
I might play it anyway, just to make an attempt to get over this fear.
You said you're looking to buy it on Steam, right? There is a mod that changes the giant spider to bears, there may well be mods to change any of the other spooky things that make you pee your pants. :clown:
The mod integration using Steam workshop really is fantastic, pretty easy to find what you want too.
Well Im not afraid of most spiders. Just the freakishly large ones.
Like this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEE1rjkZFag
Laugh at me if you want, but I scare easily. Mostly by zombies though. A friend even suggested I have Kinemortophobia- fear of zombies.
Skyrim doesn't have typical zombies, as far as I know. Only undead vikings, skeletons etc. Those spiders are fairly common, both in dungeons and in the wild.
Those Draugr are pretty much Viking zombies, pretty much Hooahguy's worst nightmare I'd have thought. Apart from spider zombies.
Hooahguy, I've never actually got to know a Jew in real life, you are beginning to make me think all those stereotypes about wussiness are correct... :laugh4:
Eh, that shouldnt be so bad. If they act like normal beings then I guess I can look past their deformities.
But zombies and giant spiders are a big NOPE.
Ill just use that spider to bears mod.
skyrim isnt scary at all its just an rpg.
nothing like say doom or dead space. no jump outs, especially scary creatures whatsoever.
So I guess Im going to buy it. Once its on sale on Steam.
Summer sale can't be far off.
Yeah. Reddit has been crawling with complaint/shock posts how it didnt start today even though everyone predicted it would.
Ive been watching a bunch of Skyrim videos and they dont seem too bad.
All right, my opinion on the DLC so far.
Spoilers might be ahead.
I like it, but the name of said DLC was misleading to me.
I pretty much had no interaction with the Dawnstar; the story line
seemed to flow right into the Vampire's side of the story, and it was only after
the story was completed did I realize this.
The only interaction I had with them was speaking with their leader to initiate the first quest.
And that's it. The story had pretty much nothing to do with them, and it seems like
the game wants you to side with the vampires.
That being said, Soul Cairn is :daisy: awesome.
Undead dragon, and undead Horsie?
YUS PLS.
Oh, and the Forgotten Vale? One of the coolest places I've seen.
Mind the frozen Lake.
Have yet to fight a legendary dragon, because I'm only 53.
They spawn at around 80.
Might be a while.
